Muppet - I was thinking of you just now while I was in the bath (that sounds odd but you know what I mean!!) and I logged on to see if you'd written.

    Excellent news!!!

Muppet - that is fantastic news. :T:j:T:j:T What a relief for you (and all your loved ones), so don't waste a minute feeling even a little bit guilty about being so happy - it is well deserved and absolutely right that you should feel that way!! :D

Five pleasures for me today...(some more OS than others!):

    1. Mr P had his hair cut - it cost a fraction of what it used to cost when we lived in London (about 20% - I couldn't believe it!) and it looks fabulous. My tummy flipped when I saw him standing outside the salon afterwards  - which after 17 years together is no mean feat!!!
    2. We didn't wake up to rain coming through the bedroom this morning (unlike yesterday! :p), so the patch repair job on the roof that Mr P did yesterday was not too bad after all. We have somebody coming to assess the situation with regards repair "officially" tomorrow... :o
    3. Christmas shopping this afternoon - managed to buy several presents, including Mr P's aunt and uncle (always tricky to get!) so was pretty pleased with our outing.
    4. My internet order for my Mum's perfume arrived this morning and everything is perfect (always a bit nervous the first time I order from a new internet company...). Managed to get 5 things for her, for less than the price that I would normally pay for one thing - very pleased! :xmassmile
    5. Dinner this evening was entirely from leftover stocks in the freezer - rice from one meal, meat from another and veggies from a third. Tasted fabulous and took no effort - thats my kind of cooking! :rotfl:

Ollie - well done for talking to your Line Manager. All too often it is easier to stick with the status quo for an easy life, so I think you are very brave for speaking up. :T

Hello all, here are a couple from me-
1.Choir practice singing all the carols etc that we're doing in the concerts coming up. I had to wait for a year to 'get in' to the choir and just love it.
2.Managing to arrange for my DD and Mum to come to the main concert, I know my Mum in particular will really enjoy it.
3.I often have a 'dog-based' pleasure..today it was the lovely wiggly greeting when I got back from choir.
4.Cancelling my window cleaning..I need to make some cutbacks as my income is reducing, I'll miss the window cleaning but it was good to feel in control of making the cuts rather than carrying on regardless and worrying myself to death.
5.Reading my brand new book from the library in bed last night all lovely and cosy, can't beat it!
    Sleep well all, Ali.

    Morning all,

Great news Muppet. Very brave Ollie. Now famous family on telly. Job interviews. Lots of crafting. It's all happening here. I feel a bit lazy!

    1. Buying some teacakes yesterday (for some reason a rare purchase) and loved one saying ooh you bought some teacakes. It's definitely the small things in life.

That's all so far. Will catch up later. Great day all. :T
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

 Good Morning everybody - not sure what kind of morning outside, too dark to see anything yet, but at least it's quiet (ie no rain/wind).

Kittikins - thanks for the reminder that i-player/itvplayer can be mse, as in no tv/digibox switched :D - I often forget that it's 'there' to be used . Don't worry about setting a precendent where your DD is concerned. You only have the one child, and these years NEVER COME BACK AGAIN - it's up to us to make them as special as possible and fill them with memories that will last her a lifetime. You haven't gone 'total financially crazy', PLUS she's an appreciative child NOT a spoilt brat. I'm sure that you both will have a wonderful Christmas in each other's company . No idea on the sloes, sorry.
Patchwork - wd :T on being brave enough to attempt the 'wash in conditioner' trick on a work day -glad it worked for you . Enjoy 'The Faraway Tree' - I have a supply of 'Enid Blyton's' on my bookcase for 'mopey days' - re-read Valley of Adventure a couple of weeks ago :o.
Broomstick - wtg on finishing your mitts :j. Not sure if I was brave or stupid speaking to Line Manager so honestly - but I thought there was no point in being 'scared' at my age - she can't exactly sack me for being open in an 'appraisal' when she's asked me for my input. Besides that, she had a piece of my Lemon Drizzle Cake in her hand at the time ....... ;)
    Muppet81 - cheerleader3.gifHSstars.gifcheering.gif - bestest Christmas pressie E-V-E-R!
Haribo - good to hear your twin is 'on the mend' and how lovely to have your OH around for the day :).
piglet - wd to your OH on his quick 'fix-it' on your roof - make sure you get a couple of quotes to have your roof properly sorted - have to watch these guys you know ;). Well done on your pressie shopping :T.
alisong - wtg on getting into the choir and hope you all enjoy your concerts etc over Christmas. Used to love it when our old dog 'wagged her body' as well as her tail to greet us :) - can ALWAYS tell when a dog's happy to see you - cats just sound as if they're telling you off for being late home like a disapproving parent/partner .
mineallmine - mmmm toasted teacakes with butter - where's me bib ?

Not got much to add since last night:

    1. Watched for ACEY's dad on the i-player - which has now opened up a whole new world of entertainment for me. Didn't realise how much 'missed tv' was waiting to be watched on-line - thanks for the heads-up on that :T.

    2. Had a good night's sleep - not as much coughing - but still only managed a couple of pages. Dig in the ribs from OH around 4.00 to turn my light out .

    3. Waking up to read Muppet's news on here :j.

    4. Taken some SmartPrice rump steak out of the freezer for tonight's tea - the last lot we had was absolutely gorgeous, so fingers crossed that this is the same .

    5. Trip around both of my sites planned for today - need to deliver some laminated notices for tenants to put in their windows. One side is to tell visitors 'NO CALLERS WITHOUT APPOINTMENTS' and the other is a reminder not to open the door to strangers without Id Badges.

Will be back in again sometime later. Hope we all have a great mse/os day - love Ollie xxx

    Morning everyone.

Caterina The biggest of HSarmhugs_9780.gif for you & to say that I'll be thinking about you xxx

Muppet yay.gifblissysmile.gif Such good news! xxx

Didn't get to post yesterday as the children took over the computer last night but my five for yesterday are:

    1. My friend came round for lunch then we went into town.

    2. Tea was a lovely spag bol that I'd put in the slow cooker in the morning so it smelt gorgeous & was very tasty by teatime.

    3. My next door neighbour loves Christmas & all the decorations and has 'trimmed up' already. It makes me smile to see it all in the window & garden too even though it's not my style.

    4. Lovely sunny day.

    5. I went to watch the Lancashire Fusiliers home coming parade through our town. I was so proud to watch them all & remembered the 7 who didn't come home with them.

I'll hopefully be back later & will be thinking about you all today xx

Was just coming to see how everyone is and straightaway have 5 springing from reading here -

    1. New member ACEY Dad and Bruv Spotters' Club:D

    2. Yes, reverbe - with kittikins and bella, have noticed you lurking, not posting. Picked up 5p at rainy bus-stop last night and thought of you again. I am often fearful of mentioning peeps too much by name, in case it comes across as snooping, or 'Princess Pushy'.

    3. Patchwork - I read that Thread, too. My hair is long and straight, but Mother Genome cut off the colour supply some years back and College students play with it now, diff. shades sometimes[seems so un-me to have broken through this particular barrier]. I wondered about trying this, but then again, read about some conditioning products being harmful. I also read children's stories again - Mouse Caf!, about Lollimops and Mr Hodges, is wonderful. Also Cats' Eyes - Antony Tabor. Reading and writing gives enchantment for Life.
    4. Kittikins - haven't had time to find sloes yet, but L. thinks they're still about and told me exactly where to find them in the woods. This was last week, so I'm sure they can still be used...except for the min. 6weeks needed for steeping[but I'm sure someone will say 'You don't need to...'etc.] The Preserver's Year is always an interesting Thread.
    5. Muppet -:T relief!!!!:T Of course you were right to treat yourself. Old-style giving of thanks is not NOT OS...with me? Feeling good beams off you and gives OS pleasure to those with whom you cross paths, so there.
    6. Ollie - that was truly well done, lucid, thoughtful. I felt myself taking that big breath with you as you began to speak, and knowing it is right.
    7. Alisong- cake's going in now.
    8. Broomstick - I was thinking about Borders staff, too. Bought Glasgow Streetfinder there, in G, in May, and liked the staff very much[ditto Glasgow's Primark staff - it's that North of the Border thing?]
    9. Need to post things, thankyou ebay and Amazon.
    10. Mrs Wifey's outside with collared doves, robins, finches, dunnocks, et al....all out on the food trail, laid earlier on scrunchy grass on a stunning frosty early morning. It is a beautiful day.
    11. All that this particular chapter of birdy Life has to offer is there, every time I look out kitchen window. Mini and major domestics, learning, coupledom, survival, continuity malgr! tout....
    12. OD colleague has a solution for sth with NZ a/c/funeral thing.
    13. A is 41 in 4wks...I will be there. Will I be there, or wander off elsewhere in France? Big Age diff. always gives me pause, esp. post-his stroke and now set change in personality, and I wonder....[esp. in view of someone's recent situ.]
    14. Hearing DAB 7 and Alan Partridge just now - prefer him to Ricky Gervais, v. clever and funny.
    15. Caterina, sparrer, kiwiblue, - OS pleasure is writing your names, thinking of you, which this Thread has made possible. I hope Thriftlady, who began it, feels the spirit burns strong and true.

Lots of hugging always available here...........:T:D:j

    1. My plan to have a lovely day off have been thwarted by DD having a fever and tummy ache again - she's already on antibiotics for an ear infection, is taking a while to get back to her perky self. So, whilst giving up my daydreams of a day mooching about with no responsiblity, I'm happy that I don't have to feel guilty about work and can save on childminder fees this afternoon!
    2. Thanks Ampersand for sloe confirmation - I've already bought the hooch to steep the berries in, and am going to wrap the empty bottles and label them IOU one bottle of sloe gin in a few weeks' time as I make it in demijohns (if I can get out and gather enough). If DD is up to it, I'm going to drag her out this afternoon for a "nature walk" ;)
    3. Not OS, but have put the heating on to keep DD happy and am drying a few small items of clothing, so the house won't look like a laundry for too long I hope!
    4. DD was very excited by day 1 of the advent calendar :)
    5. Planning on making some bread, Twinks and a nice big beany stew whilst I'm cooped up at home today, yum yum!

Hi all. Really pleased to hear your good news Muppet.

Ampersand - you can send me the socks although I've not tried heels yet, could be erm, interesting.

I'm struggling a bit with this today as my grandad died yesterday, we weren't close and it was expected but what I didn't expect was the depth of emotion I would feel - I do have nice memories of him and I also feel sad and angry at the family squabbles which mean that the next few weeks/ months will be harder on everyone than they need to be.Yesterday would have been my sister's birthday too, she died when I was very young, she would have been 33 yesterday.

    But still...

    1. Families - in all their happy and sad variations.
    2. OH for being there and giving much needed hugs.
    3. Cosy winter clothes on freezing cold morning.
    4. Farmers market tea last night - mmm mushroomy mushrooms.
    5. Advent calendars, you can't beat them really.

Have a good day all x
