Sunny Girl - I've just been giggling trying to 'catch' this lovely smiley (so happy & says it all) from your post to borrow it for Muppet - that's wonderful news.
Oh, and I've just read your post Redsquirrel - (((Big hugs))) to you.

Muppet - I'm so pleased for you and your loved ones. <<<BIG hugs>>> and whoops of joy coming your way, wherever that is!
A few from the past 24 hours or so:
1. Beautiful blue skies and sunshine, so I dried a load of washing on the line yesterday afternoon.
2. We had a gorgeous frosty morning today. My boys and I saw four geese flying over the river as we queued in rush hour traffic today and then I saw a fabulous view over flooded meadows with mist, frost and a low orange sun. It almost feels as though this was saved up for 1st December. In the past I've resisted putting decorations etc up 'too soon' but I'm redundant at the moment and I want to make the house feel festive. Having frost on the first day of winter (according to the Met Office) feels fabulous!
3. Collecting a free dressing gown which is perfect for DS1 and will last for years if DS2 gets it afterwards - through Freecycle. (And passing a bag of clothes and shoes on to someone else through Freecycle for ongoing Karma!)
4. Getting 6 boxes of Christmas cards for £4 from Matalan - all half price and Buy 2 get 1 free. (MSE is a wonderful thing!)
5. Having my nearly 10-yr-olds fall hook, line and sinker for our Christmas elf's letter from Santa. They are very excited indeed!0 -
Hi all
Quickly because I am freezing my sorry A** having been on the computer already longer than healthy for a frail little thing like me...
First of all thank you all for your kind messages of love and hope, you really make all the difference.
Thank you Alisong for the wise advice, I am thinking on these lines already even if no decision has been made - the only scary thing is that I won't be able to dump my job quite yet, just in case I decide to cut and run...
Muppet, what great joy I felt in reading your gloriously good news, I am delighted for you!
HariboJunkie, thank you - wanted to reply but your inbox is full.
RedSquirrel80, very sorry to hear about the loss of your grandfather (((((HUGS)))))
Flu update: I hope yesterday was the worst day, it was HORRID - coughed for hours and hours non stop, but eventually had a reasonable night and feeling much better this morning, hope it is on its way out,
Marriage update: Still in spare room, but no longer thinking of it as the spare room, more like my refuge and shelter. We are speaking peacefully and can hug each other - but long long way from healed. All the history has repeated itself so many times that this time around I am not about to let him sweep the situation under the carpet. Am staying put in my new little room and will take things one at a time. He seems sincere in willing to change behaviour (but I have heard it all before....). No dramas though, this is a good thing.
Here are my pleasures:
1 - Breathing - don't we take it for granted? Until such time we cannot catch breath. I am so grateful for breathing, which I am managing much better today.
2 - All the lovely messages of kindness here in the forum. Thank you!
3 - All the lovely messages in the pm box, too! Thank you!
4 - Muppet's great news of good health.
5 - Today I was a "victim" of Nonnymouse! This morning in the post I received a chocolate and a beautiful handmade card from Nonnymouse, lovely lovely - I am so delighted and touched!
6 - DD has been an absolute SOLDIER while I have been unwell, she is nursing me to health with loads of lovely cups of tea, dinner, shopping, errands etc. She is just back from the library now where she picked up some books for me to read while recovering. Great girl.
7 - Speaking with DH - he seems to have got the point and is respecting my space. We are at peace (if not exactly "getting along well"), it is the best I can offer at the moment.
8 - Even DS has been helping a bit and in his own closed-up ways has shown some concern for my illness.
Got to go, feet freezing and need to lie down.
Lots of love, thanks and hugs to all, and many many hugs of support and solidarity to those of you who need them - sorry I have been a bit self-absorbed recentlyFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi all
Bit late as so busy but mine for yesterday are:
1 Getting a lie in. Teacher training day at school and all the kids slept till 8.30!!
2 Finisheding dd's sock monkey for xmas.
3 Kids playing tidily - only one toy out and then put it away before getting another one whilst I was cleaning kitchen. Ok, so it only lasted the morning but still thats more than usual!!!
4 Getting the ironing up to date BEFORE there was a huge pile so it didnt take long
5 Not needing to put heating on as I was ironing so very warm!
Muppet - thats great news.
I will be back later to do todays!0 -
Firstly, I have to say a huge thank you to everyone for your kind welcomes!
It's been a busy few days, but I've been keeping up with all your OS pleasures when I can (even if I haven't had chance to post).
Muppet, what fantastic news! I'm so pleased for you and your family. It sounds like you had a wonderful day! (I'm slightly envious of you getting to go to Bravissimo, I love their stuff, but it's so pricey!)
Acey, I'm glad to hear you and your boys are back on the mend. Take it easy!
Ollie, thank you so much! I'm rather proud of my HM lasagne, it was much easier than I feared it would be. OH is very pleased with this batch of HB, so impressed in fact he's already started the next batch! I'm glad your line manager listened to how you were feeling in your review. Maybe she'll be able to think about relocating you clearer after the festive season is over? (I laughed at the 'mulling things over' joke, btw.)
Kittikins, I hope your DD is on the mend.
Caterina, *big big hugs* I am thinking of you. You seem like such a strong person, I know you can get through this, whatever you decide to do. I'm glad DH is respecting your space and you're 'at peace' atm. *more hugs*
Nuttybabe, your truffles sound yummy! I've been planning on making some for people's Christmas presents. How long do they store for?
I'll consolidate all my OS pleasures from the last few days...
1. Making lots of HM meals, including: honey and lemon muffins, pork rogan josh, pumpkin and butternut squash soup, fajitas and stir-fry.
2. Having a couple of beautiful, clear frosty days over the weekend and even seeing some snow on top of the fells at the weekend! This combined with seeing some pretty Christmas lights in a local tourist town has started making me feel very Christmassy!
3. OH and I spent the Saturday in said tourist town with his parents who have travelled up to visit us; a great day of catching up with them both, going shopping and getting a surprising amount of Christmas shopping done (hurrah), stopping off in cafes and having a delicious tea in the pub with them. We ended up going on a lovely walk by the lake with OH and his parents and watching the sun set over the fells. Beautiful. A really great day.
4. Enjoying the evenings being curled up with OH in front of the TV munching on roasted chestnuts. Another thing making me feel Christmassy!
5. Getting lots done on my to do list today, including a huge tidy up of the flat ready for OH to put up the Christmas tree and decorations when he gets in from work tonight! It's our first Christmas together in the flat, so we're rather excited. :T
Hope you're all well and having a good day.

1) Cupcakes and sweeties for the staff this morning - leftovers from a 'do' last night.
2) Eating some of my bottled potatoes for lunch. They're not actually that brilliant but it does mean that when I haven't got any gluten-free bread left I can just pop open a bottle and make some lunch with ready-cooked home-grown potatoes.
3) The weirdest rainbow. I wished I had taken my phone out with me. It was just the very top part, with no sides touching the earth. Frost in the atmosphere or something?
4) Lunch for tomorrow is sorted. Called at the local Mr T's petrol station for fuel and they had reduced all their sandwiches in the little store that is attached. DS has a mince and onion pie, which will please him.
5) Still eating leftovers for tea - risotto with the chicken stock, DD's cheesecake or some of my sponge for afters. I love leftovers. However much I spent on the original meal, it still feels like something for nothing.
Good to hear from Muppet and Caterina. Hugs to everyone else that needs them.0 -
Miss I, I dont think they store for that long. A week in the fridge as they are covered in chocolate so will go white. I wanted to make some for presents as well but I think I may go for fudge (baileys, of course) instead. Just need to find time for the practice run to make sure i can do it!!!!! :P
I just had one and it was very nice and still looked just as good from whatever day I made them (friday I think!!)0 -
Muppet sooooo glad to hear your news:j:j:j:j
Oh the joys of today:-
1. Arrived safely in Yorkshire.
2. The cottage so comfortable and warm and cosy on this very cold day.
3. Just off to cook the food I've brought for tea, about as OS as it gets today, we're in the lap of luxury.
4. Oh, and I have brought some hm almond tarts and chocolate brownies.
5. Can't think of a better place to spend a December holiday and of course it is cheaper out of season so that bit is OS too.

Hello everyone. I am sorry that I have been out of touch for a while, things here have been very difficult and last week I was too upset to focus on any daily pleasures. I won't go into the details but I am glad to be back now.

4. Turning the heating up (bliss)
5. Wearing lots of snuggly layers, to keep the chills awayTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0
