    My five for yesterday,
    1. My new (to me) car is doing great, even in this weather. It even got me places I didn't think it would.
    2. Two loads of ironing from the lady I iron for. She is away next week so I dont have to go - a day off!
    3. More supportive text messages/phone calls from good friends.
    4. Walking DD2 to youth club in the snow with my sister and dogs. Lovely and quiet along the cycle path.
    5. An unexpected text message from an old friend I have just got back in touch with. Said he hoped I was tucked up nice and warm and ended with a X !!!

Did he mention 'coffee' at all??? :D;)
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Be careful out there peeps. X

Glad the car is serving you well............seeing as you were regarding it as an omen it's even better :)

    1. Yippee, the rain has washed away most of the snow and we were able to get out today :)

    2. A nice man in Waitrose let me take the innards of the Daily Telegraph for free as the main, outer, news section was missing, after I explained that we would really like to do the crossword :):)

    3. Cameraderie of people whilst out shopping, you could tell everyone had been going a bit stir crazy over the past few days, lol.

    4. Went to guiding fete and DD got to meet Father Christmas, she was very impressed!

    5. Spent a fortune on goodies there, a couple more Christmas presents for me from DD :)

    6. Saw the 'big man' again in the nearest town giving cart rides, thankfully DD didn't notice his beard had got a lot longer in the 10 minutes since we'd seen him......

    7. Nice librarian agreed with me that my fines for overdue books due to being virtually housebound recently were a lot smaller than the cost of just one book and happily renewed the other books I'd forgotten on the sofa so I won't incur any more fines, phew!!

    8. Really loving the buildup to Christmas this year, DD is really involved with everything.

    Evening all,

    Hope you are all well.

    1) took my car in to get washer pump fix which is why it failed its MOT last week. Turn out that its fine... the numpty hadn't checked to see if it was frozen last week and assumed it was broked (even after I told them that this was the most likely reason)

    2) Looong sleep this afternoon on the sofa with Kitty - just what I needed though I have had a slight headache ever since

    3) Finished a square for my knitted blanket. Its been a few weeks since I last sat down to do some knitting.

    4) Tidied up the lounge which was looking rather scruffy

    5) Chatting to my friend in Herefordshire on Facebook.

    Night night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening

Sparrer - Hope you are feeling better
Caterina - Glad you enjoyed the taste of Christmas Show, I'm going tomorrow with my friend. On free tickets of course:money:

Pleasures are a bit difficult for yesterday as had to work in Manchester yesterday and got stuck in Manchester Airport for over 7 hours last night, got home at 2 this morning eventually. I was tired, cold and hungry and BA were rubbish:mad:. Also been unable to have a shower for 2 days as new bathroom taps are not working properly:mad: plumber reckons he can't do the work until mid jan to fix. I think he may have to rethink that one, really not impressed as just paid out £4k on the new bathroom.

Anyway enough moaning, pleasures for today:
    1. Actually getting home and not spending the whole night in an airport which was looking very likely
    2. Local taxi company that we use all the time with work getting a taxi out to pick me up really quickly even though they were busy and the driver knowing exactly where I live and just taking me home:T
3.Even though tired took DD shopping in Kingston this morning as had a top to exchange. Also got the telegraph offers of scarf and chocs that she can use for christmas presents. £1.80 well spent
    4. Bought myself a new scarf that has a hat attached to it, will be ideal for walking home in the cold and wind
    5. Lovely sleep this afternoon

Now heading for my bed. Hugs to all who need them
  • For Saturday,my five pleasures:

1 It turned into a sunny day despite the bitter cold.

2 Went for a walk again. There were people out running in the park, but a lot of the paths are still quite slippery,so I don't dare.

    3 Hand-washed some woolens.Never like doing it,it's so fiddly.

4 Chatted to Mum on the phone.

5 Very proud of this:after much faffing about have made two Black Buns (a rich, moist fruit cake, baked in a pastry crust.Traditionally served on Hogmanay/New Year's Eve in Scotland).
It was touch and go for a while,as I struggled to line the loaf tins with pastry (and briefly lost the will to live),but they're out of the oven intact.Just hope they taste nice.

    Night all x

    My five,

    1. Had another snowy walk with my dog but the snow is melting fast.

    2. Managed to get out to the shops and no bread or milk anywhere. I still have milk in freezer and supplies to make my own bread. I needed fruit and veg.

    3. DH managing to go to work with very little hassle.

    4. DS1 ringing for a chat.

    5. Doing some baking.

Morning, everyone. Here are my five pleasures for yesterday. :)

    1. A traybake I made (a total experiment that I've never made before) turned out to be fabulous. It was a pastry layer topped with mincemeat, then spiced apple slices on top of that and finally layered with crumble mix. Mmm...
    2. That and a coconut cake were very well received by our host when we took them to a friend's house.
    3. We went to watch the lights being switched on in a nearby town then went back for jacket potatoes, chicken drumsticks, sausages, pasta salad - a real spread!
    4. I was given a lot of meat to take home, which means I'll have plenty for tea today.
    5. A good night's sleep, with DH bringing me a cup of tea in bed this morning. :)

It looks like most of the snow has gone from here - a big relief as it means I ought to be able to take the car tomorrow to work - yay! I did drive it last night, but I'm really looking forward to using it to get to work again. (((hugs)))

    5 for yesterday (Saturday).

    1) Went into town with my sister and got a few stocking fillers.

    2) Read the Guardian at length.

    3) Wrote most of the Christmas cards.

    4) Sat in bed with my sons to watch an old episode of Top Gear. It was the one with the cars from Communist countries racing a Morris Marina - I learned to drive in one of those!

    5) MrN came round. :-)

    4) slow cooker is filled with pork shoulder, so I don't have to worry about dinner later

  • Morning all :)

    My 5 for yesterday:

    1. Had a busy day around the house, going through all the baby clothes sorting out what is being kept and what is being ebayed/charity shopped. Few tears :o at some of the laughably tiny things DS had but mainly smiles putting aside things to be passed onto the new baby. Also went through the kids dvds and books, just toys and clothes to go through. Feeling better for a clear-out and reorganising.

    2. Sitting in DS's window watching DH & the kids sledging on a nearby hill, i was a wimp and stayed in the warm lol

    3. A few more presents wrapped, oooh i love wrapping!

    4. Putting the Xmas tree up together, DD did really well decorating and DS 'helped'. DH does the lights and stays well clear of baubles cos he says im too fussy. Moi?!

    5. HM burgers and wedges for tea watching YBF & Harry Hill then putting DS to bed and me, DH and DD watched 'The Grinch'.

Take care in the snow all
