    Evening all!

Have had a fairly relaxed day today:

    1) Had a good 8 hours sleep with no fretting pooch waking me up.

    2) Took said pooch out for a walk at half 7, it was beautifully misty and quiet in the woods.

    3) Had a letter from Pompey police to say that my purse that was stolen has been handed in!!!! Hurrah! Can't get down to pick it up until Wednesday - really hope my lucky shell and photos are still in there.

    4) OH's mum gave me 2 tins of beans, 2 tins of plum toms and a tin of spaghetti when I popped round earlier. Didn't really understand why but always nice to get free food!

    5) Had a bit of a text conversation with a friend who I used to work with and is going to Afghanistan soon so it was really nice to catch up with him before he goes.

    6) Re-reading OH's letter from yesterday as he is away. :lovethoug

    7) Eating the spicy pumpkin soup I made the other day for tea, followed by some choccy icecream that had been lurking in the freezer (Chocolate....lurking???? I was confused when I found it - normally gets eaten straight away!!)

    8) Sitting in my lovely cosy living room with some lovely smelling candles, a brillaint book (The Other Side of Silence) and the Hours soundtrack playing.

    9) Looking forward to OH being home tomorrow.

and finally 10) Having a text message from a friend who I gave jar of my apple and blackberry jam to saying it was Deeeeeeeelicious! :)

Hello everybody  - I can't believe that I've just got half-way through a post and lost it - yet again .
As i said, I did that last night and then this morning I wrote out another post and my internet connection went off, so lost the lot ....yet again, it truly is
Hope you enjoy new cake and well done on the washing - did 2 lots, hung out and mostly dry, just finished off 10 mins in TD. :j

You know the saying, 'some days you're the windscreen, some days you're the fly'....

This post totally sums up what I was once told:
There are some situations in life you have absolutely no control over............what you do however have utter and total control over is your reaction to them
I know that isn't strictly true as sometimes your body reacts different to what your brain is thinking.....but I think the general gist of it is so very true.
So sorry you've had such an awful time, sparrer. :( (((xXx)))

    1. Still listing things on ebay - I have enough clutter to keep me going for months I think but things are selling and its a nice bit of money coming in which is needed.

I'm desperate to list on e-bay but so confused about registering as a seller (have account as buyer and PP account) as I looked on help section and it said you can only sell so many items and only receive a couple of PP payments as a private seller.

I'm going to post this before it goes AWOL and do another post. ;)

Evening all, from a somewhat grumpy CCP (see 'pleasure' 4).

    4) Planned to go up to my local pub to watch the Portsmouth match, which is, very unusually, on television this evening. The pub was so packed I couldn't even get in through the door, though, so I'm back at home listening to the football on the radio. :( Pleasure - at least I've saved some money by not buying drinks at pub prices.

Disappointing............but worked out in the end :)
Dundeedoll Thank you so much for your lovely comments. Yes, we went to The Quays in Gloucester. Its very relaxing to walk around if you can in the week or in the evenings, beautiful marbled floors and very new and gleaming. OH says the shops are mainly designer clothing ones he would never go into, but I find it quite good. There is a M and S outlet, a Next (though I never seem to find anything in there TBH), a great Gap outlet, a White Company, a Villeroy and Boch china shop for indulgent purchases (!!), a kitchen shop, a furniture and homeware shop and lots of other clothing stores...I know there is more info online if you want. Parking seems quite cheap and the Quays is opposite the Peel (Peal) complex with Cineworld Cinema and restaurants so you could always combine one of those for a full day out...
If you wait until after 6pm to buy your items you can get an extra 10% off too.
Thank you for such a detailed reply! Me and my friend are having a 'me' day next Thursday and we were off to Leamington Spa but I may suggest The Quays.....+ my eldest lives near Sharpness so could get him to meet up for a coffee.

    Evening all,

I have been very lazy today and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to having a few days off work next week...:j
    How lovely! :)

    1) A lay in until 9!
    2) A lovely day.........totally the opposite of the forecast
    3) Lovely PMs from 3 different people.........thank you very much.
    4) Nice txts with 1 of the above
    5) My living room looking so cosy with my candles lit......nice and warm too after GCH on for 1/2 hr
    6) My gorgeous puddytat cuddling me on the sofa
    7) A cyclamen plant given to me by 1 of my eldest son's friends. It is her 21st birthday soon and I gave her an hours session at a local photographers. She went this morning and enjoyed it so much and just wanted to say thank you.

5 for Friday, if that's possible. :-( Felt rubbish all day.

    Oh Frith  HUGE (((((XXx)))))

    5) MrN came round. I don't know what is happening there and am tiring myself out thinking about it. I don't want to be pushy and question him as to his intentions. He is tired and stressed and I am partly insane. I don't know what he wants, now or in the long term. :-( I don't even know if I am his girlfriend, really. I don't know if he has told anyone! He would quite like to move (not far, I don't think) and I know that would be the end of any relationship because the only way it works is that his house is 2 metres from mine. We literally would not see each other at all if he moved. With his job, our massive amounts of children etc, I know the effort involved even to meet up once a week would be immense. I don't want to go from a cup of tea at the end of each evening to meeting once a week anyway. But he seems very blase about it and looking forward to going. I don't know.

Isn't it horrible - as well as exhausting - when it all just goes round and round your head and you don't know where you stand?

Do you think there's any chance he's waiting for you to declare your feelings to him and he doesn't want to ask you as he knows you are mega stressed and doesn't want to put any extra pressure on you/upset you/be rejected??? May be totally off the mark..........just a thought. ;)

CCP and dundeedoll - many thanks for your words - marzipan in it's 'own state' isn't exactly my thing, but I love a bit of it underneath icing. Years ago I had a 'little old lady' tenant who lived a very sparse lifestyle - so sparse she would buy a quarter of boiled ham and a box of French Fancies and make them last her nearly a week. She once mentioned that, as a little girl, she loved being given marzipan trimmings by her mother when she baked Christmas Cake - so I bought her a pack of marzipan fruits for Christmas. The look on her face was reward in itself.
I get more pleasure out of giving than I do receiving..........although that is lovely too!
That generation certainly knew what living frugally meant, didn't they?

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone...................X

Dundee - what's puddy tat's name? She looks very imperious!
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Ollie your story of the lady with her marzipan fruits reminded me of one of my tenants who always had a bowl of almonds on her side table and would offer them to anyone who went into her flat. It was some time before we realised they'd started life as sugared almonds - I needen't tell you what happened to the sugar coating before the nuts got put into the dish . Fortunately I'm not keen on almonds and never accepted, but know a few who did!
villagelife congrats on ebaying, I can't register for some reason but my DD and neighbour will sell bits for me if needed. Yummy toad in the hole, real warming food :D
(((Frith))) never say never, if you and Mr N want to see each other you'll find a way no matter how far apart you are. But right now you're only a few feet apart so please don't worry as there seems nothing to worry about today and we never project very successfully :).
CCP rotten luck about the pub footie, but as you said you saved some pennies on drinks. Good for you deciding to have extra time in bed with the moglet, they're such cuddly creatures
Purple kitten another one with toad-in-the-hole, must be todays menu ;). Good news about the starter motor, a good job well done
Ladyhawk so pleased you're getting some time off - hope you use some of it to relax :D. Congrats on the freecycle offers, you should get a good machine from among all the offers
Gingerjar good to see you posting :). What a lovely long walk, pleased the weather stayed fine for you
niksyg what a relief about your purse, hope you find it intact. Bless your DH for the letter, there aren't too many romantics left out there so he's definitely a good 'un :D
dundeedoll what a lovely moglet, s/he seems to be saying 'make sure you get my best side' :D
Ginger Snap hope you have/had a good time watching the fireworks. I love them but have to sit with the dog and mogs so don't see many. I do see a lot of spent rockets in my garden though, which I'll collect in the morning.
Caterina thank you for the pm :), will reply after this. Hope you enjoyed doing the things you had to do today

    my 5

    1. Everyone's kind thoughts about yesterday. As they say, this too shall pass, and it has. There are still bits to sort out but today has been much more fun
    2. Neighbour's DD came over and we planted the plum tree and strawberries, and prepped the area the raspberries will go in, when they arrive
    3. Postie brought me a Boots voucher for surveys, and a sample of anti wrinkle serum. Seems they haven't quite given up on me yet!
    4. nsd
    5. Susan Boyle on Piers Morgans Life Stories. An amazing woman, not just for her voice.

    Evening

Carrieparkinson - When my DD had chickenpox we were told to put bicarb soda in the bath as it is soothing and doesn't dry the skin.HTH

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Sausage sandwiches for brunch
    2. Really busy day cleaning the kitchen decided to empty the cupboards and scrub the inside of them. Plus scrubbed the tiles and book shelf. Have only got half way and will finish the other half tomorrow. Did find some museum piece tins lurking in the back of one cupboard though:eek:
    3. Trip to the local tip to get rid of another load of decluttering rubbish
    4. Found out the school that is really close to us was having a fire works display so went along to that with OH and DD. Took our own hot drinks so just paid the entrance fee. Fireworks were lovely
    5. Home to a simple dinner of pasta followed by a guilty pleasure of artic roll

Hugs to all who need them
