  • In responce to the leftover wint comments! I had opened a bottle and filled an ice-cube tray before I poured a glass.

Otherwise I sometimes open a bottle just for cookigne which seems a waste if I dont feel like a glass that night! Otherwise I am FORCED to drink wine!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Damn, damn, damn posted yesterday's and todays but needed to edit as I hadn't finished and didn't realise I had to save it to post it and all gone- duh!

So will have to be a more brief one now- poopy pants.
    Yesterday:
    1) Had a fantastic afternoon with friend I'd not seen in ages. Was great to catch up and chat. Also good to make me appreciate friends more. Sometimes I get so caught up with work and my own little world that making time to see friends becomes a kind of 'hassle' which it really shouldn't be and I'm now determined to be less of an anti-social meany!
    2) Driving there and back to friends in lovely warm, clean, spanking new automobile- love it.
    3) Coming home to find that DH had cleaned and tidied kitchen and other bits meaning I wouldn't have to do it all today.
    4) Having a glass of Irish Knights with ice (ASDA cheapo version of Baileys- just as good and only £3.97)
    5) Knowing that I have booked in another visit to said friend and the reformed me now looking forward to it.

    Today:
    1) Getting up early and having tea and snuggle on sofa with book.
    2) Making chicken casserole whilst making breakfast- love the joys of slow cooker.
    3) Planning Maths for week in no time at all. Few bits to add to it but main thinking done. Only got to check Literacy plan and a little marking but will do in front of something on iplayer.
    4) Love having DH around but also loove being at home on my own- lucky because I am a lot due to his work hours- have an evening to myself- will catch up with iplayer bits and read and generally bumble around.
    5) Finding I have had some replies to my diary on Debt Free diaries so don't feel like such a billy no mates. Please say hi if you have the chance.

    Greedy one more

    6) Planning to make some healthy ish banana muffins for breakfast and work to avoid overspending on cardboard like supposed healthy snacks.

Enjoy rest of the weekend folks xxx

Haven't posted in a little while, but I actually have some pleasures to post today. :) So here goes:

    1. I've made my Christmas Cake! I've been soaking the fruit in various spirits for a week or so and finally got around to making it today. It's only a light fruit cake as we prefer a lighter one, and instead of icing it, DH has suggested that I give it a heavy coating of icing sugar. I've wrapped it up in greaseproof and clingfilm and will ice it when I get some more icing sugar.
    2. DH commented (and I agreed) that the house smelt of Christmas. :)
    3. Watching the Moto GP 125 race and seeing Bradley Smith win his first race of the season. Sadly it's the last race, but it was good to see him win.
    4. Sausage chilli for tea with sauteed potatoes. It was delicious!
    5. The Fireworks display last night. It was great to see; we met up with some friends, watched the big bangs and then went for battered sausage and chips.

    Have a good evening, everyone.

  • Hi all,

Hope you have had lovely weekends, it's been great weather, although it's getting cold now!

Does anyone happen to know of any reccommended christmas cake recipe's at all?

    My 5 for today:

    1. A long lay in
    2. A bacon and Philadelphia brunch
    3. Buying my first pair of shoes for over a year since breaking my ankle, very slowly aiming to working my way to a slight heel!
    4. Emails to and fro with MIL
    5. Relaxing for the evening, researching for interviews tomorrow.

    Evening all,

Hope you have all had a fabulous weekend. I very naughtily still have no cut my lawn in preparation for winter. I hope that it will be dry enough for me todo it when I am off later in the week.

    1) Made some lovely quince jelly

    2) Made some lovely quince and apple jam

    3) Made my great grandmother's ginger bread finally which is really yum. I have put a few slices in the freezer so that I don't guzzle it all.

    4) Made some soup for supper... it wasn't so lovely. I am not sure what went wrong - it was supposed to be a simple leek and swede but ended up with a nasty after taste.

    5) Using the left over apples and quinces to make appley quincey crumbley.

    6) Doing the ironing - I hate doing it - but I also hate it not being done.

    7) Chatting to my mum on the phone

Sleep tight everyone and have a wonderful week

PS Marmite - I really like Ree (the Pioneer Woman) - her recipes always look so easy.

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Cup of tea in bed thanks to DD
    2. More kitchen cleaning and tidying done today. Emptied the crockery cupboard and washed everything. Cleaned cupboard and all put back. Did get rid of a bag of mugs to go to the charity shop not quite sure how we have managed to collect so many.
    3. Cheap cooked chicken in Mr.T has managed to do sanwiches for lunch, chicken curry for dinner and lunches tomorrow.
    4. Another lot of washing dried outside, love that can still get washing dried outside in Nobember.
    5. DD doing some ironing bit less for me to do.

hugs to all who need them.
  • 1) Risotto for lunch with left over chicken stock, wrinkly veg etc. Cut up the end of a lettuce to go with it and had just enough flapjack so that when DD's bf's Mum called at lunchtime we had enough to share.
    2) Coffee date with DH after he finished work.
    3) Pea and ham soup for tea made with some ham stock I froze months ago (but no ham. You can't win them all.) It's DS's favourite and DD's bf, who was there again, actually complimented me on the food today.
    4) DS's first day at his job at the local cafe. Poor thing, he's so tired but I'm so proud of him.
    5) Have been doing something for work all day but am just about to continue with the rib on my second sleeve.
  • Hi everyone!
Can you all remember a couple of days ago when I said my new puppy was all my five....I take it back! He's as lovely as ever but a nightmare at bedtime. We have him in a training cage in the living room to avoid wrecking everything and he is fine and chilled about it but he wakes up every hour of the night screaming bloody murder.I go down and take him into the garden to do his business which he is impressively good at already (a godsend) but when he goes back into the cage he whines and yaps and the only way to get him back to sleep is to put my hand in the cage and he falls asleep on it. I'm in a quandry as the 'books' and other folk say that he will get worse as I'm rewarding his whining and to ignore it but he's getting me up to go to the toilet which is what I want him to do.Does anyone have any advice??? I had a dog when I was younger but have no idea on training. I think I will keep getting up to take him out to toilet but when putting him back that's when I should practice ignoring him.I've put one of my jumpers in tonight and OH is sleeping on the floor out of his sight so he doesn't have to keep getting in and out of bed. I did the last two nights and I am so tired so he's kindly offered (read:been forced into) sorting him tonight. Anyway sorry for highjacking the thread. At the moment I'm far too tired to think of 5 pleasures but tomorrow maybe a different story after a good night's sleep.Night all x
p.s I will attempt to post a picture of Ian (if i can work it out!!!), you would never believe such a cutie could be such trouble!

Miss MoneySave - try posting on the pets forum - they had really good advice when i was having problems with the kitty cat.

Just don't forget that it is you who is the leader of his pack and he needs you to behave like the leader.
