Oops, i forgot to post last night after all so here are mine for the last day or two:
1. Took the kids for a swim this morning and managed to get 80 lengths in while they played with some dive toys. (They are good swimmers so I can afford to take my eyes off them for a few seconds now in order to swim)
2. Last night ended up watching the local city's huge firework display from our balcony. We had driven out to a hillside viewpoint but found we were too far away to really see anything so returned home. OH brought me a sherry (!) while we watched in the comfort of our own home and DD and I drove OH mad by describing the fireworks as they appeared. We thought they reminded us of "Golden dahlias", "silvery waterfalls", "lime green anemones" and "volcanos exploding their fiery lava". As you can imagine OH just wanted some peace and quiet!!!
3. DD cooked lunch for herself and her brother following a recipe she had been given at school. She produced some delicious HM cheesy pasta and even helped (a bit) to tidy up afterwards.
4. Yesterday afternoon finally got the courage to take a birthday plant down to the churchyard with DS and DD to put on late husband's grave. Its been a few years since he died but I still hate going to that place and feel at a loss as to what to do once I am standing there looking at the gravestone. Anyway, it was okay as visits go and the children suggested a walk around the park and lanes nearby so we spent a happy half hour kicking through the autumn leaves and chatting about old times. (we used to live nearby when the children were small)
Hope you all have had a good day...I might be back later to add a few more happy thoughts...:)0 -
Morning all!
I have been feeling really despondant recently with having no money so I made a list of my money saving achievements and it cheered me up no end!
Here's a selection;
1 chopped up some old lemmons and froze them for cold drinks in the festive season. Saves throwing them out!
2 Made a tray of rocky road as a treat for DH and myself. used all Mr Ts value ingredients and it tastes great
3. Tidied out paperwork drawer so I have better access to my desk
4. Am about to embark on sorting out the spare room (wish me luck)
5. froze some leftover wine into cubes for cooking
5. beef casserolle in the slow cooker
6. Was given some whiskey by a girl at work who had it at home but didnt drink it (result! I love whiskey but cant affort it these days)
7. going to feed the ducks later and have a nice walk
8. cleared out kitchen drawers so I now know exactly what I have in and wont buy things I dont need!
Thats it for today! Hoep you all have a lovely Sunday!0 -

Having left over wine?. That really is an achievement !:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
(I didn't think alcohol froze, which is my excuse for using it all up in one go.! ) We have a bottle of Mirto Italian licquer in our freezer, made from myrtle berries as it's supposed to served from an iced bottle. It's been in the freezer for months and the contents have never frozen. But perhaps wine has a lower alcohol content and thus does freze.0 -

4 Eating sensibly today and yesterday.I've got a tendance sometimes to comfort eat,and can feel my clothes getting tighter,so need to pay attention.

Wishing you all a pleasant evening x0 -
Hi there all,
Have had a great weekend and mainly because I stopped being a miserable old moo face and went to see a friend I haven't seen in ages and had a great time.
I'm not actually that miserable and I do get out quite a bit really (!!!) but have found that I now just love being at home when I can and so I'm often reluctant to give up any time at home. Obviously time out to see friends is not time wasted and was lovely to catch up and have made plans to do similar again soon.
So yesterday's 5:
1) Visiting the mentioned friend and having lunch and mooch (and some spends) in the shops.
2) Making a plan to see my friend again soon and looking forward to it already.
3) Coming home to lovely DH who had cleaned and tidied kitchen and other bits so meant I wouldn't need to today.
4) Glass of Irish Knights (ASDA cheapo version of Baileys).
5) Being able to drive back from friend's house in clean, warm spanking new car. Love it.
As for today:
1) Getting up early and reading with tea on sofa.
2) Making casserole whilst also making breakfast- love my new slow cooker.
3) Finding that at last two other MSE ers have replied to my diary so I feel less like billy no mates- feel free to say hi if you can.
4) Further reading on sofa.
5) Doing my maths plan in record time. NowOctober NSD challenge 7/10:o
November NSD challenge 3/10 so far
SPC # 413 (but waiting until next year for grand opening!)

Thanks for the tip!
I have just made some (sort of) dumplings and chucked them in the casserolle so here's hoping they come out nice !0
