ampersand you are so right about the revised timetable! It was absolute bliss listening to half an hour on Churchill this morning on R4! Generally I do love Today but Sarah Effing Montague makes me sooooo angry  and John Humphries - normally an interesting and intelligent individual but for some reason turns into a half witted, biggoted, pompous fool when interviewing people! So instead of worrying whether they would be presenting (and god forbid, together) I just listened happily knowing that my day could start in a positive way inspired by the wise words of an incredible leader!

    Anyway...
    My 5 for today:

    1) It's Friday so only 1 lesson to teach and an early finish!! :j

    2) Left work with a clear desk so no stresses on Monday.

    3) Got home to find an amazing letter that OH had written to me this morning and left on the table. Basically it just told me how much he appreciates me and loves me and understands that I make massive sacrifices for him and that he really appreciates the support I give him. :smileyhea

    4) OH is away again this weekend so keeping busy with checking bank statements and just organising finances and food and cleaning and stuff which always makes me feel good.

    5) Cuddles with the still not quite right pooch!

    My five for today:

    1. Having a lie-in and not feeling guilty about it.
    2. Receiving some nice compliments for some voluntary work I'd done. A pat on the back is always
welcome to reinforces one's sense of worth.
    3. Discovering I'd won a £25 premium bond prize.
    4. A nice feeling of not being morally bound to go out to a fireworks display tonight when I looked
outside and saw it was drizzling with rain.
    5. Settling for Gardeners World on TV and then an early night with a good book.

    Hi all,

    1. Booked an online shop so I didn't have to lug stuff home on the bus.
    2. Received a missed delivery card - wasn't expecting anything so hope it's something good!
    3. Received the CV book the other day
    4. Got a lift home
    5. Warmer weather means the heat is turned down - saving gas money
    6. Getting my bead order - wasn't money saving but it came very quickly and I'm back addicted to beads again.
    7. My car passed the MOT :D
    8. Found a couple of pairs of smart trousers in charity shop - great for work.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

Morning everybody  - looks like the possibility of a decent day - well at least it does at the moment ;).

I'm sorry if some of my posts give people the impression that everybody should do similar - just trying to be encouraging and would hate to leave anybody out of a friendly acknowledgement - you all seem to have great ideas and wonderful stuff going on in your lives that I want to give you all a :j and :T and a HScyboie_glitters.gif when you're out of sorts.

Don't be sorry.......I really really did not mean my comment to be a criticism in any way. I just felt that other posters make such effort and I should too, but there were so many posts and I just felt overwhelmed with acknowledging them all.........does that explain it any better? Probably not........Oh I hate upsetting people......wish I hadn't said anything. Sorry :o
Hope everything will be ok at work for you..........such a worrying time for so many people.
    Your food sounds yummy :)
    Enjoy your Dgd tomorrow!
    3. Popped to a local Designer Outlet store with OH (no work for him today) and had a gingerbread latte in Costa. Real treat and made me feel festive!

Is that Gloucester Quays (?) I've heard that advertised on the local radio. If it is, is it worth a visit?

    5. DD came home from school with her first senior school mid-term report. SHe seems to be doing well so that's a relief. :)
    Oh, thats great. :T

Your swim this morning sounds great. Well done for making the effort.

Good job you've managed your anxiety for the last 6 months.........at least you've got a call back now. Hope you find it helps you.
    This forum really is brilliant!

Ollie - please don't stop doing your wonderful posts - I love reading them, although I always wonder how you do it - I've replied to everyone once or twice and it takes ages (it is fun though, I'll admit :)).
I wish I'd never said anything now........I would be devestated to think I'd stopped somebody posting with what I said. I'm really really sorry.

dundeedoll - I can't add anything to what Caterina said, but - welcome! Come in, put your feet up, and post some pleasures. :D

Thank you. This is my favorite thread :D

Cake sounds lovely! What a nice idea.

sparrer - I have had a gas hob for ages as I once had an electric one and it was as Craig Revell-Horwood would say:
    'DISSSSSAAAAAAAAAAASTROUSSSSSSSSSSSSS'
Thanks for my congrats on the no smoking for over 3 months now.

Frith - The note from your son bit made me cry! Won't be able to put no tears today as 1 of my 5 now!

niksyg - How lovely to receive a letter like that. Hope the pooch recovers 100% very soon.

beachbaby - Hope you enjoyed your meal. Oh and I hope you didn't get too hot and bothered at the bonfire/fireworks :D;) :rotfl::rotfl:

pollys - having had sciatica I can say I truly sympathise. Hope it soon gets much better. :) at the flowers......how sweet!

Have a lovely evening everyone. X

I started this post just as Emmerdale started at 7pm. It has taken me ages to try to quote/copy/cut/paste etc...........wrote out a load, dropped the mouse and it all disappeared :mad:

Started again but this time opened 2 windows (no, not the 1s in my living room!) the thread on 1 so I could see the posts and reply on the other................an hour and a half later I'm about to press send :j
THAT'S why I said it must take those who do post long posts aaaages!

OH God, I've just realised...............I haven't done my 5 :wall:

    1) Another nights sleep from 1am - 6am :j
    2) Had a phonecall from the estate agent of 1 of the big houses I work for that's for sale............please please could I find a 3 hour slot for her?
(Not going to be easy, but I can swap things about a bit and manage 3 weeks out of 4, which she's very happy with)
    3) DS2 decided he didn't want to go to dad's this weekend (15 mins before we were due to leave) so I didn't have to do a 90 mile trip in the dark and rain
    4) The cat is curled up next to me
    5)My ex loves marzipan and when I was in Lidl earlier I bought him a bar..........well, I can't give it to him now,can I ? ;)
    Mmmmnnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhhh.....................very nice :D
(Right, 1 hour 50 mins after starting this post I'm ready to post it) :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi all

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - All the kind words I read here in this lovely, heartwarming friendly thread!

2 - Got the towels that were hanging out to dry since yesterday back in just in time before the rain. I love sniffing them as I fold them and put them away, with that lovely fresh clean smell of air-dried laundry!

3 - Breakfast of fried egg and beans on toast with DS.

4 - All Christmas presents for family and friends bought and stored away in my wardrobe!

5 - Free show at the South Bank with DH - a mix of storytelling, poetry and live music, very very good.

6 - Back home, we found that dinner had been cooked by DD and DS, romanesco broccoli with pasta and a very tasty salad of fennel, grated carrot and grated apple with raisins and DD's special vinaigrette. Delicious and much appreciated!

Edited to add: 7 - Watching fireworks from the window as I sit here at the computer!

    Good night everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Straightforward train journey today and getting all my connections smoothly both ways.
    2. A successful day on the project I am working on. This has been the first day nothing has gone wrong so fingers crossed we have worked out all the bugs in the system.
    3. Did lose my cool a little bit with someone I had to talk to at work today who was really rude to me but the guy I was working with was laughing so much. Glad I amused someone:o
    4. We were supposed to be going to some local fireworks tonight but the weather was foul so stayed in and watched them from the comfort and warmth of the house
    5. Still had planned dinner of chilli for dinner which was yummy and always a favourite here. Followed by some seashell chocolates that we shared, came from the Debenhams voucher and were supposed to be for christmas but oh well

Hugs to all who need them especially Ampersand to get through this tough time.

dundeedoll - please, please don't worry about it - I'm sure you haven't upset or offended anyone. We're just glad to have you here - honest! (And you're right, it does take ages doing long posts - as you found! ;))

I share your fondness for marzipan, BTW - when I was a kid my mum used to use marzipan to cover the Christmas cake and saved all the trimmings for me. I've been planning a trip to Lidl 'sometime soon', and I think it might now become 'very soon'. :D

pollys - I'm glad you're feeling better today and I really hope you're right that it's improving now.

niksyg - please give a hug to your poor dog for me, and I hope he shakes off the after-effects of the anaesthetic soon.

Linda32 - no, sniffing a Christmas cake isn't strange at all. I tend to do the same with HM bread - yum!

Have a nice evening, everyone. (Have I said that already today? ;):D)

Back after a very long break!
  • Happy Bonfire Night All,

May five for today have all come in one thing, my lovely puppy, Ian! It's hilarious watching him do normal pup things. He's only 8 weeks and not quite steady on his feet yet. He's the cutest little thing ever. He's nibbling on my slipper as we speak......
Hugs to all who need them, this thread is so warm and friendly.I'm pleased to be a part of it!
