Evening all,
Hope you all have had a lovely day and have enjoyed the fireworks displays.
1) Being invited by my lovely colleague J to join her, her daughter and her dad at the local fireworks display
2) The fireworks being really good, despite it being a tad damp
3) My boss and the big boss calling me to compliment me on yesterday's presentation. I am one of these people who really need external validation so it really made my day.
4) Nice atmosphere in the office as all the directors were out.
5) NSD as my lovely colleague J2 bought me lunch.
I am going to sleep so well tonight. I hope you do too!

I wish I'd never said anything now........I would be devestated to think I'd stopped somebody posting with what I said. I'm really really sorry.
dundeedoll - please, please don't worry about it - I'm sure you haven't upset or offended anyone. We're just glad to have you here - honest! (And you're right, it does take ages doing long posts - as you found!)
I share your fondness for marzipan, BTW - when I was a kid my mum used to use marzipan to cover the Christmas cake and saved all the trimmings for me. I've been planning a trip to Lidl 'sometime soon', and I think it might now become 'very soon'.
Thank you
I'm not a HUGE fan of the marzipan, it's the ex that loves it, but I just got the munchies and needed something nice. Plus it's all covered in yummy chocolate which I'm NOT supposed to eatbut every now and again................;)
The marzipan from Lidl/Aldi is soooo scrummy tho'...........you MUST go and treat yourself!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

Hi all, another lurker introduction..I’ve been lurking for a while now, reading peoples posts, and appreciating all of the things that make people happy.
I’ve had such a nice day I just wanted to share with people who may also appreciate the little things.
As finances are more than a bit squeezed, actually finding some bargains was lovely, as most times we tend to meander around and there’s absolutely nothing. So while it wasn’t a no spend day, absolutely everything we bought was either extremely marked down or voucher.
1. Up early for a hospital appointment that went really well.
2. Picking up a whole bunch of bargains from Costco/Ikea and B&Q – (and in Costco we even stuck to our list which was a major thing and it was £100, but we won’t need to shop during the next week at all, we veered off only for a yard of jaffa cakes £2.99 which will be a Christmas present.
3. Sorting out 4 interviews for next Monday and Tuesday and having everything crossed for them! The only downside is I will need to buy some shoes, which will be more expense but I have been wearing black trainers for the past year further to a serious leg accident.
4. Chatting via email to my mother in law.
5. A lovely home cooked dinner and cuddling up with my husband while watching the free fireworks spectacular at the end of garden each year as we happen to live locally to it so free feel good annual entertainment.0 -
It's a good while since i've posted in here, but i do still read the posts from all you lovely people, and am heartened when i do so, by the wonderful pleasures you all find in your days :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Hello everybody  - I can't believe that I've just got half-way through a post and lost it - yet again .
Blimus and Caterina - Thought these might interest you both, and of course anybody else who's thought of making tawashis and amigurumis:
http://freeamigurumipatterns.blogspot.com/
http://arpelia.blogspot.com/2008/09/super-simple-tawashi-flower.html - one lady on this site mentions making a double one with the other side made out of 'plarn' (plastic bag yarn)

purplekitten - hi and welcome to the thread  - wd on your bargains AND for sticking to your list in Costco. I'm rubbish with lists unless absolutely skint - so would rather send OH with a list on those occasions.
I'm absolutely shattered this evening - so will just post my five for today:
1. Porridge (made with water) but sweetened with honey for brekkie and proper coffee for a change.
2. Discovered a pack of ham needed using up today, so made ham sandwiches for lunch - phew - quick rescue there!
3. Made a BIG PAN of Leek&Potato Soup this evening using the Pressure Cooker - which got rid of a couple of huge leeks that were sitting at the bottom of the fridge along with a couple of sticks of celery, three small onions and three potatoes. Now that it's chilled, I'll put into containers to freeze and will do us for the next week or so.
4. OH and I 'saw off' the last of the Banana&Date Loaf from last weekend - I reckon that we've been very restrained with it this week lol. I've got another couple of manky bananas so will do another one tomorrow morning.
5. Planning on having dgd2 tomorrow and overnight - IF we can get her to stay over. She's three now and has suddenly become a bit clingy with her mum - but we'll see how it goes with her during the day. She can help me with my 'whoopsie hunting' in the evening :j.
6. Watched the fireworks from our upstairs rear window. We're on a bit of a hill and have a fabulous view of the Liverpool City skyline all the way down to the Mersey from here, so lots of fireworks to be seen.
I'm heading off for my bed right now - really tired now - nitey nite all - love Ollie xxx0 -
You know the saying, 'some days you're the windscreen, some days you're the fly'....
1. Went to pay all the cash my friend and I had saved into the bank and pay for the tickets, got there and realised I'd left the envelope at home. Pleasure - it meant two 12 mile round trips through the villages in beautiful sunshine rather than just one.
2. Back to the bank, paid in the money, got back to the car. Some ******* had left a dent in the off-side wing so the metal was touching the tyre. 'Pleasure' - I didn't need to drink or smoke over it.
3. Arrived home at the same time as the very nice man who came to swap the plum trees over. Went indoors to have a cuppa, and as I stepped out afterwards to plant the new tree the heavens opened. Pleasure - at least I have the right tree, and it got a good watering
4. Kind neighbour tried to pull the dent out but it's too deep and left a 'crease' and cracked paintwork which he said might or might not go all the way through. Pleasure - the people on the motoring forum giving good advice
5. Looked up train times for the OS meet to find there are works on the tubes next Saturday. Pleasure - not actually worrying about it, if I have to leave early to get there I will
Pleasure - being able to find something good in all the bad, or as they say give me a lemon and I'll make lemonade
Night night, sweet dreams

5)My ex loves marzipan and when I was in Lidl earlier I bought him a bar..........well, I can't give it to him now,can I ?
Mmmmnnnnnnnnhhhhhhhhhh.....................very nice
Marzipan is my one of my favourite indulgences. I certainly wouldn't pay the exhorbitant price being asked for these fancy marzipan fruits so I find a block of it stored in the fridge, with a wedge shaved off for an after-dinner nibble with coffee is a much cheaper way of treating myself. Not sure if it's VATable when being sold as "confectionary" and non-VATable when it's being sold as a product in the bakery aisle? Anybody know?0 -
Oh Sparrer!! What a day!! Well done for staying so positive about everything!Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry.
