5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Hi again
Beachbaby sorry to hear that you had some difficult times, I hope that things settle for you soon, in the best possible way.
Ginger Snap, good to see you again! I loved reading about your chickens, in my heart of hearts I always hope that one day I can have chickens myself!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1 - Lazy morning, not much done - and not feeling guilty about it either, nyah nyah nyah!
2 - After my bout of laziness I did get to feel a bit guilty so I got into gear and got the towels laundry done and DD put it out to dry for me. (Towels are the most difficult wash to dry outdoors, which is great as today was such a mild day!)
3 - Also managed to get dinner cooked in advance, as I am going out this evening.
4 - Late afternoon, one hour spent with the knitting group at the Reminscence Centre, treated myself to a cup of tea and cake.
5 - Looking forward to my evening outing, to a Volunteers evening for a charity that I have been volunteering for, and neglected for a while after I started working. I shall be delighted to let them know that in a month or so I can start volunteering again!
6 - The thought that in 7(ish) weeks the days start getting longer again!
Have a good night everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Right, I am going to pull myself together and be POSITIVE. My five for the last couple of days,
1. Finished work until Sunday evening.
2. Rotten weather tonight but I dont need to go out. Going to have a nice hot shower and my candles are already lit.
3. Deciding I am not going to instruct a solicitor or make any decisions about getting a divorce until the new year. It will also save me making any rash decisions. Time to get my thoughts together. I feel calmer and in control now I have decided this.
4. DD1s bedroom is actually quite tidy now.
5. A bit of a wicked one again. After getting really frustrated and angry at DH (not very D anymore) I threw a plate, not at him just at the floor, but I was amazed at how good it felt. Great therapy.
Love to all. X0 -
Sorry to hear you are upset beachbaby but I'm glad you're not doing anything while you feel angry. We still have a stainless steel bowl with a dint in it that I kicked around the landing when I got to a point (two tiny children and husband out at work all hours) that I couldn't stand it any more.
1) Scoured the house this morning. I always feel so much better when everything's put away.
2) Saw a friend for a coffee and a chat in her lunch hour and then mooched around the charity shops without buying anything.
3) Got DH's anniversary present - a big cuddly jumper from M&S. Not very MSE but then while I was in there, I found some lovely gift sets for various people at 3 for 2 and some half price chocolates.
4) DD is cooking again this evening. Paella, apparently. So I am knitting and taking it easy.
5) A lift from my lovely neighbours to the Gardener's meeting this evening.0 -
Evening all.
beachbaby - I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time at the moment. Hugs to you.
Ginger Snap - it's nice to see you back, and I'm glad you're feeling a bit brighter today.
Keeping Positive and dizzy lizzie - welcome to the thread! (dizzy lizzie - sorry I missed your first post when I was catching up the other day - I promise I didn't mean to ignore you!)
My five for today:
1) Watching a kid playing with the fallen leaves on his way to school / my way to work.
2) Finishing my work for the day a little early and spending the last ten minutes or so reading a discussion on the Guardian website about jacket potatoes - there's so many ideas there I'm going to have to try.
3) Jacket potato for dinner tonight as I realised I don't have time to cook what I'd planned to cook. (Well, it will be a JP if the flippin' thing ever cooks - it's been in the oven for an hour and hasn't even started to soften.)
4) Making a carrot cake for the charity cake sale at work tomorrow. :A And eating the last of the cake mix from the bowl afterwards.
5) Meeting my dad later - it will only be for an hour or so while he's waiting for his ferry, but it's still nice.
Have a lovely evening all.
Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello
Sitting here and reading has really cheered me up. I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself having been laid up with sciatica for a week.
Pleasures today - my DS2 getting a "congratulations - on excellent work and behaviour in Humanities" comment in his school journal. DS1, 2 and 3 doing the washing up after tea without arguing over who is doing what. Having my mum and dad visit and help out with the school runs. A friend offer help. Being able to stand and make myself some lunch- no chance of standing that long this time last week.
Thank you for cheering me up, do you mind if I join you?

Evening everyone!
My five for today are;
1. Having the oven on for an hour and a half but managing to sort 12 meals in that time. 7 baked potatoes for the freezer and 1 for lunch and 4 portions of roast tomato and chilli soup.
2. Not very mse but going into town to get the last few things sorted for the puppy who arrives tomorrow. Managed to do well and get most things from the pound shop but then we saw some lovely ceramic food and water bowls and blew the budget. They weren't masssively expensive but the fact that I knew I could get basic water and food bowls for a pound made them seem so.
3. To counteract the splurging on the pup I had some good freebies today. Received a sample of Britney Spears perfume in the post, a vial not one of those annoying postcards! I also bought this month's Glamour mag and got the free Warwick Avenue Nails Inc varnish, good for £2 but I paid for it with a gift card I got from a complaint so it was truly a freebie.
4. Watched 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' that I recorded during Sky free movies weekend. Got settled with a large cuppa and some top brand bargain chocolate mis-shapes, I love the element of surprise you get with these! The perfect way to spend a couple of hours.
5. Starting to feel at home in the mse community. Finally somewhere that all my quirky money saving ways are appreciated rather than laughed at!
Have a nice evening everyone.Comper, Blogger & OS-erCompetition prizes: £6/£20150 -
I came on here earlier to post but felt a bit overwhelmed about commenting on everyone else's posts, so didn't post.

Hi dundeedoll,
I just wanted to respond to the point you made above, because I understand that it can look like that. Sometimes I also have felt that I ought to respond to more people directly, however over time I have realised that this is not necessarily the case and nobody takes offence here if you do not mention every single person who posted before you!
We all support each other but sometime there is no time or, as you said, it can look a bit overwhelming, or simply there is nothing that you want to add to someone else's post. It is ok! I hope I speak for others too in saying that all it takes is the posting of our own pleasures. Choosing to share our little moments of happiness, and sometimes sadness or disappointment, too, is what makes us human and this is what is really valued here.
So please always feel free to post your pleasures without feeling that you ought to post more than what you wish. Then, if someone else's post particularly jumps at you and you feel you want to respond, do so by all means, but only because you want to, not because you should feel obliged!
I am rambling, but hope it makes sense and that it is helpful!:)
Edited to say: madam, I am shocked! You take porridge with BROWN SUGAR AND CINNAMON? I thought you were Scottish and as such you would only have porridge with top of the milk and a pinch of salt (or at least this is what I had to endure during my first marriage to a Scot - it took me many years to be able to eat porridge with sugar and cinnamon, delicious, without feeling that I "ought to have it salty"!) tut, tut....Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Evening all,
I didn't post yesterday as I was away with work, so I'll post for yesterday and today.
1) My very scary presentation to all our very senior managers went really well (thanks to rescue remedy!!) and I got some lovely feedback from a lot of people. The topic was quite challenging and I completely messed up the rehersals... but it was all alright on the night.
2) Popped in to see a collegue/ friend on the way home from the conference who was hosting an jewellry and accessory party. I bought myself a lovely new necklace as well as another necklace which will be a christmas present for someone.
3) A random text saying "Ladyhawk (well my real name obviously!) has anyone told you lately that you are a beaut". I am assuming this is from someone who has seen a rather large picture of me in a trade magazine... Anyway I am assuming that it was meant nicely!
4) Having a drink with an Irish colleague yesterday evening. We had a bit of a heart to heart and she gave me some advice about dealing with the emotional baggage from a previous relationship, which, 10 years after it ended, still affects me.
5) NSD yesterday.
Night night all... I'm shattered!

PS. Caterina - could I have your quince recipe?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -

Thank you for such a long lovely reply, Caterina. I did kind of know that, but I see all those posts where people DO comment (it must take them aaaageeessssss ) and I felt guilty and selfish just writing mine.
