    Hi everyone!
Really feels like winter now, leaving work on a dark, rainy night - yuk!
    Today's pleasures:-
    1) A fairly unstressful day at work. Both my managers (aren't I lucky having 2 :rotfl:) are on holiday, so we all get a breather)
    2) Had a nice lunch - had made up a yummy salad to take in with some bread and pate
    3) Got a lovely fuss off puddy tat when I got home
    4) Debating which Christmas card to make next
    5) Nice thought - tomorrow is my last working day, then my 5 day weekend commences
    also
    6) Brother coming over for a day next week and bringing the toolbox - he'll do all those jobs I can't fix myself eg fixing a cupboard door and other DIY bits and bobs

Well done to everyone - sounds like lots of folk are catching up on all sorts of jobs, cooking nice things and enjoying life generally :j

    2. how beautiful all the trees look at the moment - nature's fireworks!! Oh I love that. Made me nearly have a little cry. I'm a softie!

    3. had LOADS of trick or treaters call round and they were all so well behaved and polite, and all looked great in their various costumes :)

    4. watching the film "White Fang" with my own Alaskan Malamute curled up by my feet :)

    5. reading eveyones posts on here - lovely to hear people finding pleasures in their day despite all the doom and gloom on the news all the time :)

house elf Hope you soon feel 100%
frugalpam Have a fab 'long weekend' and a nice time with your brother next week.
frith You lucky girl having a 'Mr.N' :D;) I could do with 1!

    1) Another night of sleep and not waking up @ 1, 3 and 5. (Mind you, didn't go to bed 'til 1, so that helped :D)

    2) Another day of no tears

    3) A HUGE salad, smoked Trout and homemade spiced plum chutney followed by homemade natural yoghurt with homemade granola for dinner. (Having a Cornetto in a minute;))

    4) One of my clients has a flat right beside the back entrance of Harrods and has offered me to go and stay in it if I'd like to go to London for Xmas shopping - how nice is that?

    5) Another of my clients lives in Sussex but has a Cotswold mansion which I look after. I saw her last week when she was here.
Went in today to check all was ok etc and on the kitchen table was a bottle of wine and a HUGE box of choccies + a card.
She said she thought I looked like I could do with putting on a bit of weight so bought me the chocs and thought I could do with being spoilt and just wanted to thank me for keeping the house so nice and for the lovely cooking I fill the freezer with.
Brought a tear to my eye..........how sweet of her.

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Free shopping trip today. Tights for DD thanks to Debenhams voucher and some bits in Argos thanks to some vouchers I have had tucked away in my purse for ages.
    2. Meeting OH for a drink after work. Nice to have a bit of grown up time.
    3. Walk to the pub to meet OH. Had to walk to through lots of scrunchy leafs. Makes you feel a child again.
    4. Simple dinner of sausage and mash for OH and DD and left over pasta bake for me.
    5. Looking forward to an early night as an early start tomorrow to get to Horsham.

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening all,

Pam - lucky you having such a useful brother... I have 3 of them who are completely rubbih at any DIY type things!

Dizzy - awww... you are a big softie aren't you!

Dundeedoll - hmm... sounds like you are fabulous at your job (whatever that is!) and your clients are lucky to have you.

A loooong day in the office (12 hours :()

    1) Wearing funky red tights to work with boots and a short skirt and getting some nice comments from my colleagues.

    2) My colleague making a spectacularly bad mistake but we agreed to sort it out between ourselves and I really hope nothing more comes of it. The pleasure was that we managed to contain it (we hope) and knowing that one day will be able to look back on this and laugh...

    3) Selling and posting off 2 books on Amazon.

    4) Yummy fish pie from the fridge for supper - nice and easy.

    5) One of our marketing managers bringing me a big bag of wool for my blanket. What a love!

    Night all... sleep well

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

I am going to borrow this 1 :D I usually wear black, but am going to jazz it up with some funky red tights and my knee length suede boots..................not sure I'll get the compliments tho'

Evening everybody  - quite mild today but typical wet November day - miserably dull :( - AND I've just heard my Food Waste Recycling Caddy get blown over with the wind.

sparrer - lol at pulm rehab still trying to teach you to breathe :rotfl: - maybe we should all have 'breathing lessons' while at school. I'd like to bet the majority of us don't actually 'breathe correctly'. oooooh luxury - king prawn salad with jacket potato .
villagelife - wd on applying for your refund :T - hope they don't make you wait too long for it.
Ladyhawk - well done on your 'teamwork' - true co-operation:j.
Rebekah - mmmm Parsnip&Carrot Soup - that's a combination I hadn't thought of trying and it sounds delicious.
Blimus - wtg on timing it right for some good whoopsies. I find around 6.00pm starts the better mark-downs. wtg on your tawashis. A couple of years ago, I made lots of knitted/crocheted dishcloths for family/friends. Then I had the idea of making up extra presents for the 'men' in my life (DS1, DS2, DD's b/f, my OH, my brother) - they consisted of a shoe-box packed with bottle of washing up liquid, hand-made dishcloth, dish-wash brush, panscrub and a new Christmassy Teatowel and were labelled 'Only for a very special man in my life - NOT TO BE SHARED!' - the expressions on their faces was :rotfl:.
Frith - wd on your financial plan - hope it works crossfingers.gif.
missmoneysave - wd on venturing out into the open and welcome to the thread. wtg on your grocery spends and great that you've joined the grocery challenge.
house elf - wd to your ds on his swim.gif. lol at your Hallowe'en theme lessons :T.
betterlife - sounds like you and your boys have had a brilliantly tiring day :j.
niksyg - hope all goes well for your pooch with the X-ray tomorrow.
frugalpam - enjoy your 5day-weekend (be lovely if they were all like that!). I'm sure you'll find lots to keep your brother busy all day ;).
dizzylizzie - :hello: - good to see you; come and play :D.
dundeedoll - wtg on getting a full night's sleep - makes a big difference when it happens :j. oooo my mum was a housekeeper before retiring - she loved it.
Tealady - wd you on your free shopping trip :T.

    Mine for today:

    1. Got dgd1 up, ready and out for school on time - she left the house at 8.00am to get the bus - AND she'd done her homework last night too :T. She also took a couple of slices of Banana&Date Cake with her.

    2. Brekkie of porridge with honey, then decided to be greedy and had toast as well :o.

    3. Almost finished my anti-biotics and need to go back to GP tomorrow - fingers crossed.

    4. Carrot&Butterbean Soup for lunch. OH full of compliments - said it was as good as B*x*e*s - that'll do for me :j.

    5. Going to try to do a couple more rows of my shawl before getting off to bed for the night.

Hope everybody has a good night's sleep. ((((HUGS)))) for all who need them - love Ollie xxx
  • 1) Car repairs came to £230, which is much less than we expected.
    2) A microwave tea - several different portions from the freezer and fridge, with a few fresh veggies. Last of the fruit cake for afters, with cheese.
    3) Had to do a presentation to my colleagues this morning. I was visibly trembling. However, one of them, who usually annoys me, was sitting and nodding at me encouragingly and on purpose, so that I would calm down. I was so grateful.
    4) Started the sleeve of my free jumper.
    5) A jam jar, saved for me by a colleague. They have posh jam so I'm hoping she doesn't mind saving me some more.

Hi missmoneysave, welcome aboard :D. Sounds like you're off to a good OS start already
niksyg thanks for the chuck it recipe, I'm one of those too. Things seem to be better than if I weigh this, dice that, grate whatever in neat little ounces. Will keep everything x'ed for your doglet tomorrow :)
dundeedoll congrats on 2 months nicotine free :j think of all the money you'll be able to spend on your Christmas shopping spree!
Ollie hope all goes well at the doc's tomorrow, and that horrid infection is well on its way out. Wish I liked porridge, it's such a healthy, warming starrt to a winters day
Patchwork good news about the car repairs :D. Well done on getting through the presentation, and the encouragement from your colleague was thoughtful.
    Caterina hope all's well

    1. Up early and bedding blowing on the line by 8am
    2. A very kind freecycler gave me some strawberry plants which I collected this afternoon.
    3. The garden centre delivered my fruit tree/bushes - well, they delivered a 4 metre plum rather than the 2 metre 'pixie' variety I ordered! If I planted that I'd have to go round the neighbours gardens asking if I could collect my fruit at harvest time :rotfl:Fortunately they realised their mistake and are bringing the right one on Friday
    4. Speaking to DD on the phone this morning, she mentioned she's found 'the dress' but a little of of her price range at the mo. She now has her Christmas present on order - good old Mum. It was a bit expensive but as it was over a certain price it was p&p free. I'm trying to convince myself that's OS :o
    5. It's been so mild I still haven't needed to turn on the heating :T

    Night night, sweet dreams
