frugalpam wd on your 21 month non-smoking anniversary
Caterina wd on deciding not to renew contract, good luck tomorrow
beachbaby we enjoyed the minions' antics too, the photocopier incident was hilarious. Hope you're feeling better soon
Mine for today:
1) starting the day with a mini lie-in and a cup of tea
2) attending dd's friend's build-a-bear birthday party, provided by a local company
3) very polite, well-mannered trick-or-treaters of all ages visiting this evening
4) enjoying my first serving of sprouts in the lead up to Xmas, as you can tell I'm a sprout lover
5) CDWM"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
Evening everyone, hope you've all had a good day.
My 5 for today....
Cooked a chicken for dinner & there's enough left for another meal for the 4 us plus soup.
Baked two cakes (1 lemon & 1 chocolate) and some scones.
Put out some of the birdie treats I made yesterday & my 1st visitor was a robin.
Sat as a family & watched cats & dogs, think it's the longest we've all been in the same room for ages
All the little trick & treaters bless them.
Beachbaby, the little fish are soo cute, just starting to turn orange & as far as I can see there's 4 of them.
Night All xSometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
Good luck for tomorrow Caterina ((())) Will be thinking of you.
I had a very nice OS day today:
1) A NSD
2) Despite the wind and rain it was still reasonably mild outside so the heating is still off.
3) Spend a couple of hours finding out about Amigurumi (cute Japanese knitted toys) and made a little penguin. Now I can follow crochet patterns I hope to be trying a lot more. Really, really enjoyed that today as I'm so NOT a crafty person!
4) DH made the annual pumpkin pie which we had after tea with some cream. Yum!
5) Watching scary Halloween stuff with my big brave (;)) DS1.
Looking forward to getting back to lessons tomorrow.
Hope everyone else has a good week.DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

I don't often come on here but love reading
I will post 5 but not all were today
1. Making pompoms with DD's out of Wilkos wool and cut up cardboard box
2. Watching Red Kites (birds of prey) from Dad's living room window
3. Making crabapple jelly from my own tree planted in memory of my late Nana
4. Leaving the housework and chaos to spend time with DD's - they will soon grow up and the dust will still be there
5. Watching a lovely little Robin feed on scraps I put out for the birdsInc a handful of suet.

Evening
Caterina - Good luck with tomorrow sending you hugs
Pleasures for today:
1. Lovely lie in and DD bringing me tea in bed
2. Toasted teacake for breakfast
3. Didn't need too much on my weekly shop this week but decided to stock up on store cupboard bits. Also had a £8 off £40 spend so used this to full advantage as well as a few 3 for 1 and bogofs. Saved over £20 on what should have been the total. Cupboards, fridge and freezer now full to the brim.
4. We don't do Haloween in this house so rather than trying to ignore the doorbell we had a family night out to the Cinema to see RED. DD loved it and laughed so much, she has such an infectious laugh.
5. Also had dinner from Nandos so no cooking plus had a voucher for a free half of chicken which will be used for tomorrows lunches.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Ollie You should buy a lot of those little wedding cake boxes and send us all a piece of lemon drizzle cake. On the other hand if you're crafty you could be very OS and make them
. Re the drill, I never let a man do what I can!
frugalpam good luck with the weigh-in. Did you know that every cake spoken about on here instantly loses all its calories
beachbaby you didn't hold me up at all, it was a pleasure to sit down and chat for a while. So pleased the evening went well, and I'm sure the quiche was yummy
CCP it was an old gardener who told me about using polystyrene, apparently it doesn't break down even when it's wet so should last well. I'm another one who thinks that banana cake is exactly right for beakfast, I eat cereal at night, so it evens the balance of things
Ladyhawk good for you finishing half the blanket, you've worked hard on it. Love the story about the robin, they're so friendly and 'tame'.
Caterina hope all goes well tomorrow, you'll be just fine. This time tomorrow it'll all be over and you wont have to think about it again.
Marmite the scones sound yummy, although I've never tried soda scones it's always fun experimenting so well done everything turned out well
Can't keep my eyes open, the hour has thrown me and I didn't have my siesta this afternoon, so will say night night and repy to everyone I missed (sorry) tomorrow
Sweet dreams

Mine for the weekend!
Saturday
1) Boys went to stay with my sister overnight.
2) Went to mum and dad's and played lots of piano duets with mum - something I haven't done in donkeys years.
3) Took brother's dog for a massive walk up to sister's house-to-be (mortgage arranged, just waiting for solicitors to actually do something!)
4) Went to Mr N's to watch a DVD and for dinner.
Sadly, then spent Saturday night going to pieces (lovely return of ptsd) and filled with doom and gloom. Went to sleep at about 7am... Weirdly, having only 2 hours sleep really gets rid of any tension and stress! Tiredness is much better. :-) I often have a good day after a truly appalling night. Which leads to.....
Sunday
1) Cleared my whole wardrobe out (such as it is). I am now wearing a T shirt a friend gave me years ago after she cleared out HER wardrobe and I know she wore this when we were at Uni - pre 1996!
2) Cleared through ALL my paperwork.
3) Went to mum and dad's where my sons were waiting (after staying overnight with my sister) and had almost a reunion with them! I had to laugh as I got there because I could hear them shouting and laughing as I got out of the car...... They were bouncing on the trampoline and I couldn't see my sister but she was so exhausted she was just lying in the middle of the trampoline while they bounced round her!
4) Had a lovely walk round mum and dad's followed by tea then a bonfire where all my old paperwork mentioned in point 2) ended up. :-)
5) Cooked a date and walnut cake following my favourite recipe that I found hidden in.... the old paperwork!
6) Watched Casualty.
7) MrN came round. :-)
Soooo..... feeling absolutely fine now and still none the wiser as to why one minute I am normal and the next am too stressed to talk or even answer the phone. :-S0 -
Hugs to all that need them.
1. DS1 coming with us to watch DS2 play rugby.
2. Managing to do lots of housework with the extra hour so less to do today.
3. A NSD
4. No heating on till late evening.
5. A family day.0 -
Morning everybody - :hello: - very mild at the moment though it's been raining overnight. Isn't it good to be up in daylight again - though not for long lol!
villagelife - good to have some 'mum and son' time - gets harder to find space for those kind of moments as they grow up. I love having some time with mine ON THEIR OWN sometimes - think our relationships have much improved as they've matured - particularly my DS2 who is now a well-mannered, handsome hunk as opposed to being the 'Teen from Hell'. Hope you all enjoyed the rugby game.
frugalpam - fingers crossed for your 'post-cake' weigh-in - I'm sure that it won't have made all that much difference - butanyway.
beachbaby - hope you found lots of inspiration and ideas at the Garden Centre :j - ours is having a fireworks event next weekend, so may take a trip up there.
CCP - wtg on your bargain on the household insurance :T - and thanks for the ghost game - dgk's will love it :rotfl:.
Ladyhawk - would love to have everybody round for a coffee 'n' cake morning :rotfl:. wd on your hike, but be careful of that hip - don't neglect it hun.
Caterina - good luck for today ((((HUGS)))) - hope it all goes well for you. Sounds like you've really taken advantage of the extra-hour this weekend - such a busy time.
marmite - wd on the scone making :T and take time to relax while having your manicure this evening. Only ever had one once - but enjoyed the hand massage part of it. Don't like the feel of nail-varnish on my nails though and scraped it off with my teeth within 10mins of having it put on. Putting 'nails in mouth' is NOT GOOD PRACTICE for a reformed '50yr nailbiter' like me.
Primrose - sorry to hear your weekend didn't go to plan - no wine - no walk - no sunshine -especially for you.
GirlySquare - wd you on having well-mannered trick or treaters :T - some of ours are just greedy little monsters  - especially the 12-14 boys who appear in a big group AFTER the littlies have knocked - they know that nobody would open the door to THEM so they hide around a corner out of sight.
jaxx - well done you on looking after our feathered friends - they'll reward you with their company through the winter months.
Blimus - wtg on having a go at Amigurumi (never heard of those before). Just had to 'go google' and came across THIS site - have you seen it before?
Frugal - what a wonderful way of remembering your Nana - planting a fruit tree - she is still contributing to your lives :j.
Tealady - Great spending there :j - and a great way of spending a family evening for folks who don't 'do Hallowe'en' :T.
sparrer - so pleased you shared that snippet about 'cake shared on mse losing all it's calories' - what a fabulous thought :rotfl:. I'm quite a 'dab hand' with a drill myself, BUT I won't use one up a ladder. I'm a bit of a 'Pansy Potter' at the best of times, and would never be able to remain on the ladder while trying to do the drilling at the same time.
Frith - sounds like you had a great weekend - how lovely to be wearing a T-shirt that your friend wore in Uni - that most hold some fabulous memories for you both.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Baked a Banana and Date Loaf before going out to DD's. This one is for US though.
2. Managed to get to church on time to meet DD (got there before her) - great service - dgd2 made a little handpuppet of 'Samuel's mum' with a sad face on one side and a smile on the other.
3. Called at the Co-op on the way back to DD's and found some good whoopsies for teatime :j.
4. dgk's got dressed up for Trick or Treat and went out with their older sister - just around the street. While they were gone, DD and I had a 'sock matching session' and a good laugh/natter. Told her she needs to get rid of dgs1's baby socks as he's now 9 and won't be needing them again :rotfl:. Going to make her some 'sock bags' for their bedrooms to try to keep some order to the darn things! Still got lots of left-overs.
5. Visit from DS1 and his g/f on their way to her father's house - cadged a lift back home with them :j.
Need to get a shifty on this morning - have to be back at DD's this morning for 9.00am - she's going for an Endoscopy and wants me to either take dgd2 out OR hold her hand - think I'd rather have dgd2 for a while :rotfl: - she's a little :A.
Think I should have arranged to spend last night at DD's!!!
hope everybody has a good os day - speak again later - love Ollie xxx0 -
Hi everyone
Doesn't it feel like winter, now it's going darkish at only 4.30pm!
My 5 for today:-
1) Another loss today, bringing it to a total of 9lbs :j Thanks for your congrats and encouragement
2) Didn't have to get up for work today - that pleasure (not) is tomorrow. (And by the way Caterina - very pleased for you that you made the decision to pack in your job. Hope the work event went ok. And I love your hair colour!)
3) Away from the weekend hordes, had a good browse round the supermarket and picked up some good food bargains.
4) Worked out my WW daily points and had enough to have a small piece of lemon cake
5) Got 2 more Xmas cards made today
Sparrer - very glad to hear that any cake mentioned on here has no calories :j I'll definitely go with that theory !
Hope everyone's had/having a good day,
Pam x0
