Caterina pleased the day is behind you now. Well done on the YS plums, my favourite fruit, I think.
Marmite good for you doing hand washing, not something I do if I can avoid it. Then I have a huge pile and promise myself I'll do it more regularly, but....:o
CCP great news about the cashback, hope you get that sofa delivered before the C word :)
niksyg pumpkin soup sounds interesting, do you have a recipe please? Wel done on stretching the turkey, sounds nice and warming
Tealady didn't you do well with the Lego and watch, and oh, those SHOES! They're gorgeous! I used to wear heels like that at one time, now I'm down to very sensible courts :( Enjoy every minute of them while you can :D
mineallmine oops about the croquettes, but I think jackets are nicer anyway ;). Congrats on the declutter, makes you feel good, doesn't it?
fairylittle well done on getting the wipes, I couldn't work out for love nor money how to get them and now they're all gone. Never mind, I'm sure the others who got them needed them more than me. I agree about the trees, I think this year they're much brighter and more varied than ever before
Ollie I hope all's well for your DD, it's sounding good so one thing less to worry about for all of you. Congrats on the Argos bargain, and you still have £1 left over :D

    my five

    1. is really from yesterday, re the Hallowe'en visits. The children, all with a parent or two in tow, were so good, well behaved and polite, and loved the toffee apples. Fortunately I made some extras so the girls next door got one each this morning too
    2. Pulm rehab this morning, it's now over a year they've been trying to teach me to breathe - I'm pleased the nhs hasn't given up on me yet!
    3. Visited DD after class and saw DGD2 as well as she's at home on an extra day off, teacher training, inset, or whatever they're called these days.
    4. Called into the newly made-over Sainsbugs on the way home, 'just for a look'. Bought some reduced king prawns and had a few with a jacket potato and salad for dinner
    5. Made a tea loaf but varied it by using chopped apricots and decorated the top with halved walnuts. Very, very yummy indeed :D

    Night night, sleep tight

    My five are

    1. Went to a friends for a chat and coffee and

    2. Saw her new gorgeous puppy who is tiny - a jack russell.

    3. The trees were spectacular colours on the drive there.

    4. Found 3p outside the post office when I sent off my ebay parcels.

    5. Looking at DS2's photos and he was telling me the story behind them all.

    6. Chased up a refund owing me - I will probably have to do it again but at least I've started the process.

I heard that evenings start getting lighter from Dec 12th. Days are still becoming shorter for a couple of weeks more as the mornings are darker for longer but its the evenings that have the largest impact on life I feel.
Hugs to all those that need them

Sorry Villagelife... you will need to wait until the 22 Dec for the evenings to start getting lighter :(

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    2. OH bringing me copious cranberry juice & fruit to fight off my kidney infection

  • Ollie - thanks so much for the Amigurumi link ((())). I hadn't seen that one and I already have my eye on several patterns to make for stocking fillers :D

Here are my pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Heating still off. It was freezing out when I took DS2 to his swimming lessons but we didn't even need a fire in the evening. One of the benefits of living in a teensy weensy cottage!
    2) Doing an evening shop meant that I was just in time for the best 'whoopsies'. Unfortunately (or fortunately, it depends!)there were 29p boxes of cupcakes. So I bought two packs  Very nice for pudding (and then again later with a nice de-caff cofee ;)).
    3) Watching a 'Some Mothers Do 'ave 'em' episode and both of us :rotfl::rotfl:at Frank Spencer. DS2 now does a very good 'Oooh' impression.
    4) Found another crochet pattern for 'Tawashis' (Japanese crochet washable dish scrubbers). Have made some for the kitchen and one for the face. Have yet to test them though.
    5) Found two nice balls of wool in the local charity shop - fuel for my new obsession!

Will be back later for today's pleasures (got a few racked up already :))

    5 for yesterday (Monday).

    1) Looked after MrN's youngest son thanks to his school having a different teacher training day from the school my sons go to. Or the high school that his older brothers go to.... You'd think some of the schools would talk to each other and have their days off at the same time! Anyway, we went down to my mum and dad's which I was worried would seem a rather rural and slow moving environment to him. He seemed OK though, looking around the farm, walking the dog and eating pheasant for lunch - a first for him and I hid the shot I found in mine! :-D

    2) Got some financial type paperwork sorted out. STILL waiting for some charges to be refunded by HSBC. When they've finally done that, I am going to offer 50% lump sum on my final debt and see if I can be debt free. Hopefully by the end of this year!

    3) Made quite a nice tea - roast chicken etc.

    4) Played the piano for a while. Could really do with some new music so will have to pop to mum's and nab some of hers.

    5) MrN came round. :-)
  • Hi everyone I'm a long time lurker and love reading through all your posts, cheers me right up. I've been mentally doing my 5 a day but have decided to bite the bullet and join in! So for today;

    1. Stardrops Tuesday- My favourite day of the week, everything gets a good going over with stardrops and I get a lovely clean house.

    2. Free dinner for me and OH, we have just moved into our first home so whenever mum is making a roast she makes extra and drops ours off.

    3. Going through last months receipts and being pleasantly surprised by our grocery spend, thought it would be more. Joined the grocery challenge thread though as I think with some effort I can reduce it.

    4. Made a really nice decorative candle plate to go on my bargain £20 coffee table. It's looking like a posh expensive table for a fraction of the price.

    5. Lovely Autumn day, wind blew lots of leaves off the trees when I was pegging the washing out this morning. Was really nice being surrounded by all the beautiful colours.

    Evening Peeps,

    Welcome missmoneysave.

Sent home from work after lunch as had a dizzy/sicky spell. Drove home with all the windows open and have only just warmed up! Still feel woozy though.

    5 recent pleasures.

    1. DD won 3 golds and 2 silver medals at swimming comp on saturday. V proud mummy.

    2. Spending our £5 vouchers in Debenhams on Sunday. (A few stocking fillers).

    3. Halloween buffet evening on Sunday. Kids enjoyed dressing up.

    4. Halloween themed lessons on Monday. Got the kids to measure the temperature of green slime (Lime jelly), Entrails (Spaghetti), Spider tank (Plastic!) and answered questions on where witches go for their hols and the best place to start a mandrake farm. :rotfl:It amused me!!

    5. We have borrowed a cat to sort out the mouse problem. It is lovely to have a cat around again. May encourage us to get a kitten.

Have a lovely evening. HE x

    Thanks Ollie! :)

Sparrer - no I don't really have a recipe, just roasted the pumpkin in olive oil with some salt pepper. Then chopped up and fried off some onion in some butter, and added a chopped sweet potato and then the pumpkin. Also chucked in some chilli powder and turmeric as pumpkin is rather bland. Then added a good pint of stock, let it simmer, whizzed it up and added a blob of cream. mmmmm! Sorry that's not very precise but I am a bit of a 'chuck it in and see what happens' cook!

villagelife love the sound of your friend's puppy - mine is all big and gangly now, a real dog now!!

    My 5 are -

    1. Comforting chicken and pasta soup for lunch.
    2. Cheap like the budgie tea of spaghetti on toast.
    3. NSD!
    4. Getting some really good support from my line manager over a very difficult student
    5. Being able to catch up with some college work tonight whilst OH is training.

The pooch is having an Xray tomorrow under general anaesthetic - so fingers crossed all will go well.

Ooooh - ETA that I had another pleasure - OH is a member of the Fullers club thing and we got a letter rewarding us with a free pint of ale! Now, OH is not drinking until his commando tests are over in May which means I get the beer!
