    Evening all.

I was reminded of something on my way out of the office today which I thought I should pass on to everyone on here who works (although I'm sure you all know this already): when making sarky comments about the organisation you work for, make sure the Big Boss isn't standing right behind you first. :o:o:o

At least he saw the funny side!

    Anyway, pleasures:

    1) Reading a magazine-type thing I picked up in my local supermarket and finding it's all about meal planning and rubber chicken (although they don't call it that, of course). OS-ness is taking over the world! :D

    2) I've got my mobile phone back, so the brick's gone. :j

    3) Taking HM soup into the office for lunch. (OK, I didn't actually eat it as it was really hot in the office again and I couldn't face hot soup by lunchtime, but the thought was there! :o)

    4) Pasta bolognaise for dinner tonight. It's usually something I cook at the weekend, so having it mid-week is a real treat.

    5) I had to open a bottle of red wine to make the bolognaise sauce. Now, what shall I do with what's left? ;):)

    mineallmine - I'll second your thanks to the fleece-inventor - it's a truly wonderous material. :T

ampersand - I love gingerbread. Actually, I love the sound of all your cakes - I wish it was possible to buy and receive a slice over the internet, as you make me feel so hungry. :(

Ollie - I'm glad to hear you caught on to the fake window cleaner before he could do any damage. I hope the people he upset are happier now they know he's being looked out for by the police.

Ladyhawk - I smiled at your colleagues objecting to the wildlife in the veggies - personally I like seeing what passengers I've got in my veg box each week. :)

Caterina - (from yesterday's post) - I'm suffering from deep cafe envy now. :( I so wish I had something similar near where I work - it sounds a fantastic place.

Patchwork Quilt - I hope your OU essay's going well. I'm sure it will be worth the work when you get the result (that's what I always tell myself mid-essay, anyway ;)).

I hope everyone's well and getting over the nasty plague of cyberbugs.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all.

    Hope the snuffles are better.

    1) I managed to leave work just after 6pm. YAY!

    2) NSD (3rd of the week!)

    3) Text from my mum to say her surgery went well, but they are going to keep her in over night

    4) Kitty cat snoozing next to me - he is such a lovely natured animal even if he is a little skittish.

    5) Yoghurt covered raisin sample at work... just what I needed after a couple of intense meetings.

    Night all...

    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Have felt somewhat down in the dumps for the past week - I think it's mostly down to our ongoing plumbing problems - no hot water (now fixed) broken washing machine and broken kitchen tap. I can't believe how having no washing machine is making me fed up, but then I keep telling myself that if that's all there is to upset me then I'm very lucky - so my number one is...

    1) That I at least have no bigger worries in my life than a lack of washing machine.
    2) DS2 requested some hm soup so I made some Ollie-inspired butterbean and carrot soup. A huge success! Thanks Ollie :)
    3) Was hugely touched when I saw DS2's reaction to the Indonesian tsunami and volcano - he's a big fan of physical geography but seeing how these events have affected so many people really got him thinking. He has a huge amount of empathy for one so young.
    4) Helping DS2 'tick off' the errands he needs to do for a Beaver's badge.
    5) Thankful for my good neighbour - he has gone out of his way to help us with our current plumbing woes. Hope I can return the favour soon.

Have a great evening everyone. Hugs to all who need them.

    3) Froze half the lemon drizzle cake I made the other day & remembered to get it out for after dinner.("Kevin" v. impressed)

    4) Liver & bacon for dinner tonight, plates cleared by "Kevin" & his mate :j
    5) New Poirot on telly tonight. Just enought time to sort out a cuppa & blankie ready to snuggle down on sofa with DP :D

It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!
  • Mine for today, then I'm going to have a lovely hot chocolate with DD2,
    1. A grateful 'thank you' when I took some items to the charity shop this morning.
    2. Taking less than half an hour to do my errands so no car park charge!
    3. Warm mince pies with my morning coffee.
    4. Carpets looking as good as new after using carpet cleaner from DIY store. Set hire fee for 24 hours so I did my carpets this evening and my sister is doing hers tomorrow and splitting the cost.
    5. DD2 stopping with me tonight. She didn't want to go to her dads tonight as 'couldn't be bothered', although DD1 did decide to go for a change. They are very fickle at that age.
Best wishes to all on this wet and windy evening. X

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Even though day off up early to go to Wickes with OH to look at bathroom suites. Have picked the Eco one that they stock so just need to order now.
    2. Walking the 5.5 miles home from Wickes, all part of my power walk training. The first couple of miles were really hard going but seemed to settle into it eventually
    3. Treating myself to a hot chocolate from Costa once nearly home from my walk plus I got to use there toilet. Need to plan walks around where I can find a toilet stop.
    4. Sausage sandwich for brunch with DD once home
    5. Popped into the office and found out I can have the rest of the week off as originally planned so no work until Monday:j:j. I did have to do a few jobs whilst in the office but can live with that if it means I can have the extra time off

Hugs to all who need them
  • 1) Got the house cleaned up this morning, despite three teenagers slumbering in various places.
    2) Home made bread with beans for lunch for the teenagers, some leftover free jacket potato with beans for me (I'm sure they should have gone off by now but they haven't turned a funny colour yet.)
    3) Coffee with a couple of friends. I 'spent' the petrol but the coffee was free.
    4) DH needed tea on the table in 15 mins and fortunately, it was all ready in the fridge - left over casserole under the rest of the mash and the second half of last night's cake. It looked as if I'd been efficient.
    5) A copy Great Expectations in the charity shop for £1.99. It's the next one I have to study and I never realised it was so funny in parts.

    Evening everyone!

It's been quite a good week all round, so far. Some of my pleasures:-

    1) Celebrated 21 months as a non smoker on Monday - I have come of age finally :D
    2) Also on Monday -very happy to discover I'd lost another lb at WW weigh in :j
    3) Both of the above made me feel good about myself - I feel I'm taking back control of some aspects of my life
    4) My stint at work is finished til next Tuesday - time to play at last.
    5) This is a bit naughty - but it gave me a good deal of satisfaction..... I got an email at work today from a team leader, telling me off for not having sent in my stats yesterday. He'd even copied in a senior manager!! I took a huge amount of delight in re-sending him the email that I HAD sent him containing the stats, and perhaps he could re-check his Inbox in future before slapping my wrist :D

Hope everyone's well - just haven't had time yet to catch up on everyone - but am off for a good read now,

    Pam x

A quickie tonight as I'm so deliciously tired after a day doing all those small chores which get overlooked. So many got overlooked it took me almost the whole day to do them

    1. A beautifully sunny day, washing blowing on the line and dry by lunchtime
    2. The small bedroom no longer looks like the black hole of Calcutta, it should resemble the pretty room it once was by the end of tomorrow
    3. Put all my make-up, sachets of hair products, skin lotions etc in separate boxes so they're not now floating around the drawers - I have enough to last me at least a year :D
    4. nsd
    5. Fun meeting at my fellowship this evening, some newbies who probably think we're all quite mad (of course we are) but hope they come back, they too could be as nutty as us old timers if they keep coming back ;)

    Night night, sweet dreams

Hi everybody :D - what a fabulous day it's been here today - even quite mild for a while. Heating went off at 9pm and I haven't felt inclined to put it back on again :).

sparrer - sounds like you may have had just 'a little bit of rain' yesterday ;) - must have been on for most of the day, How awful!!! good to hear that today's weather was much kinder to you :) and wd on your progress with the 'black hole of Calcutta'!
villagelife - wtg on fixing that wardrobe AND on having a clear-out at the same time :T.
Frith - hmmmm - No.3 boys went to stay with your sister/No.4 Mr N came round ........ and you can't think of a No.5 :rotfl:. tutut dear girl, you're letting the team down here ;).
Rebekah - ooooooo Pumpkin Pie/Soup over the weekend .
ampersand - - wtg on finding computer access - hope you can manage to continue using it :).
Primrose - wd on your Minestrone Soup using all home-grown veggies :T.
house elf - sorry to hear about your water in the cellar problems - omg how on earth do you manage when things like that happen .
:jat your Lottery Win - hope it's a good payout.
Caterina - Hope you and DH had a good evening out :j
mineallmine - I'm another one who's eternally grateful for the invention of 'fleecey stuff' - pure genius :T. lol at your cat!.
CCP - lol at 'Big Boss' story :o - there are occasions that I'm so lucky to work alone ;). Are you still struggling to find a way to use up that 'unwanted' red wine - :rotfl: - oh yeah!
Ladyhawk - good to hear that your mum's surgery went well :j . Hope she wasn't too disappointed about that extra night in hospital, but it can be a good idea - just to be on the safe side.
Blimus - Glad to hear that your Carrot&Butterbean Soup went down well :j. Sorry to hear that you're still without a washing machine - darn nuisance, especially when you've got a family to deal with! Hope that something gets sorted soon.
jaxx - I'm another Poirot fan - that episode tonight was brill :j. I knitted throughout and had to keep an eye on my pattern and tension .
beachbaby - wd to you and your sis for being able to share carpet cleaner costs :T.
Tealady - love the idea of 'a hot choccie pit stop' part way through your power walk - sounds right to me ;). Enjoy the rest of your week off work.
Patchwork - lol at your super-efficient 'casserole and mash' meal for DH :rotfl:. I love the David Lean version of Great Expectations - I'm sure that 'Dickens purists' would probably 'pull it to pieces', BUT I still enjoy it.
frugalpam - wd on your 21mth anniversary :T. Loving your e-mail story :j. You didn't, by any chance, 'accidentally' cc it to the senior manager, did you ;)?

    Mine for today:

    1. Toasted Crumpet for breakfast followed by porridge with honey.

    2. Went to GP and left with antibiotics and an inhaler - never had one of those before. He asked me if there's any Asthma in my family, which I didn't think there was BUT my sister reminded me that my dad was always very chesty and that his brother had Asthma - I'd forgotten about that. He wants me back next week to see how I'm getting on with the anti's and for another peak flow-monitor test.

    3. Delivered notes around some of my tenants - 28 of them live near my Medical Centre, so 'two birds, one stone'! Was glad of the inhaler while going around and using the stairs in the flats :o.

    4. Took the chance of an easy afternoon and caught up on some paperwork. Lots of Hot Lemon and Honey drinks which actually help to keep hydration level up instead of drinking coffee all the time.

    5. Carrot and Butterbean Soup for evening meal - very filling with a bread roll.

Hope all those with bugs are now recovering - (((((HUGS))))) to all who need them - sleep tight - love Ollie xxx
