Evening all,
hope you are all well.
Sparrer Hope you are feeling a little less upset today
Ollie Your fairy cakes look amazing! Definitely put mine to shame!
I had relatively good day at work up until about 5pm when by pure chance I realised the project that is causing the most amount of stress in my life at the moment, which was due to be completed in the next 2 weeks now has to be delayed by a month because someone gave me some duff information. GRRR!!!
1) NSD
2) Took yummy soup into work with a HM bread roll. Absolutely gorgeous!
3) My London colleagues were nice enough to complement me on the cupcakes I took in for them, even though they weren't fantastic.
4) Snuggling into my new dressing gown this evening.
5) Um... Being offered a seat on the tube. I didn't take it but it was nice to be offered. Hope he didn't think I was pregnant!!
Night all
Sleep well
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Frith I do like the idea of eating pigeon. There were nine on my lawn yesterday morning and I think if I want to grow vegetables they could be a pest.
1) DH and DD perched on the sofa looking at the laptop. They were choosing a dog together. We are not getting a dog. However, I started them off by saying I want a pigeon-eating cat, preferably from a rescue centre. DH thought a dog might be better.
2) Trip to Primark with DD. Went in today as I finally threw my nightie away at the weekend and got two lovely ones for £8. DD was typically modest and bought a little vest.
3) Went to the allotment this afternoon and cleared my fallow patch. Lots of potatoes have sprung up and so have planted the reasonable ones for next year.
4) A query answered on the knitting thread. I do appreciate the help and experience of other MSEers - you can't ask YouTube a question even if you can remind yourself how to psso.
5) Bolognaise sauce from the slow cooker. It's that time of year again. It's especially good if I'm digging all afternoon and come back tired and mucky to have a ready-made tea. Last of the apple pie afterwards.
sneaky 6) Lots of strawberry runners planted in the garden at home. They're like weeds at the allotment.
Hugs to you all.0 -
Evening
Pleasures for today:
1. DD loving all her birthday presents and nearly all have been bought throughout the year in the sales:j
2. Finding out I don't need to go into work tomorrow and can take the day as holiday:T:T:T
3. Lovely dinner out with OH, DD and the inlaws. We had a voucher for BOGOF on mains and as we had birthday cake no need to buy dessert:money:
4. DD loved the giant chocolate muffin I had made for her birthday cake and I managed to keep the cake moist (was worried it might be a bit dry)
5. Lovely quiet hour or two to myself today to just read in peace
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all,
Feel very sleepy so will need to get some shut eye soon.
1. Cat dominating the bed, as usual, the cheeky thing!
2. Watching comedy programmes on catch up, God bless catch up.
3. Using self - tan, it makes me feel a bit brighter, its only a gradual tan but still.
4. A crisp evening outside.
5. A roof over my head and a warm home.
Nightie!Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Evening everybody - it's been such a beautiful day here - but oh so cold brrrrrrr!
Thank you all for your comments on my fairy cakes - baked with fingers crossed because I've not done them for absolutely ages.
villagelife - enjoy your friends' visit on Saturday - great to be able to play 'hostess' occasionally. wtg on 'doing a Reverbe' - incidentally, has anybody seen anything of our resident 'coin finder' recently?
Frith - wd to you and Mr N for being able to meet in peace for once :happyhear.
Caterina - good to hear that your bug is now going and that you managed a cough-free day in work.
newlywed - wd on noticing the beautiful sunset to end your day.
We don't actually live on the coast, but close enough to get some wonderful 'skyscapes' in the evenings.
carrie - wd you on still managing to hold out on the heating - hope you enjoy your day off tomorrow.
CCP - All MMM's (Monday Morning Meetings) should be BANNED!!! mmm - lol at your furry, dribbly puddy tat - how we still miss ours.
marmite - what a lovely phrase - crystaldrops.
Blimus - congrats on having a OH who can manage to cook a roast dinner :T - where did you get him from, are there any left and can I get one with Tesco Club Points???
Ladyhawk - what a shame about your work project - but better to discover the 'duff info' BEFORE the project was completed :j.
Patchwork - lots of pigeons around here - bit of a nuisance. Are they all edible, or only securely bred ones? I'd be a little concerned about what they'd been eating - seem to be scavangers around here. wd on sorting out your potatoes and strawberry runners :T .
Tealady - wd on getting your DD's presents sorted throughout the year :j and wtg on your 'chocolate muffin birthday cake'.
mineallmine - hope you manage to enjoy your early night with your 'bed partner' lol.
Mine for today:
1. Got a load of washing in the machine early and then out on line for the day. Brought back in and only needed 10mins in the TD to 'finish them off'.
2. Porridge with honey for breakfast - just the right thing for this weather .
3. While throwing the covers back on the bed to air it this morning, I managed to kick the corner of the bed-base. Have to admit to saying some very naughty words that I didn't even know I knew. Sat with foot elevated with a pack of frozen peas on left little toes, while making my morning intercom calls lol.
4. Used up some Pork and Apple Burgers (long-time freezer lurkers) with oven chips and mushy peas (frozen left-over ones) for evening meal. Bit more space in freezer now :j.
5. Have felt a cold coming on me ever since last night - started with lots of non-stop sneezes. Have had a mug of Lemon/Honey and boiling water and swallowed 2 paracetamol - also sucking boiled sweets to keep my mouth from getting too dry - breathing through the mouth doesn't help matters.
6. Had news that my lovely new great-nephew has arrived home from hospital this evening. Can't believe how things change so fast in Maternity Units. He was only born Saturday lunchtime by C-section PLUS she's a first-time mum. I suppose the fact that they have a secure home-life and a good support network around them must count for something. Apparently she has passed comment to the effect that 'she is very tired and can't wait to get home' lol. So she is of the opinion that she's NOT going to be tired after getting home - wonder what Book of Fairy Tales she's been reading :rotfl:.
That's me done for this evening - now off to bed, to see if I can get some sleep. Olbas Inhaler Stick up one nostril, tissue in one hand and roll of loo paper under the pillow - should get me through the night. If things are STILL bad tomorrow, then I'll try the boiled wine rememdy
.
nitey nite all - love Ollie - I'm not giving out hugs tonight as I don't want to spread my germs.0 -
Caterina a friend gave me the seeds but I've only used about half. See my 5
Ladyhawk yes thank you, not too bad and I know it will get better. I've decided I need to brave the world on my own, see my 5. Re the seat on the tube, if you look preggie I'm a dutchman. I have a friend they've named a yogurt after - Skinny Cow. Please don't be offended, you have much the same shape as her- oh boy, is my green streak showing!
Ollie the cakes do look nice, it's ages since I've seen proper butterfly cakes. The gooseberry hasn't gone entirely to waste, I bent some of the dead but very thorny stems into U shapes and pushed them in the ground to deter the cats from digging up the garlic patch. Waste not, want not
Frith and Patchwork I had pigeon in Morocco, it was very nice but of course well spiced so I don't know what it would be like 'English' style. We certainly do have to do something about them here, they were talking about a cull a while back but nothing came of it, more's the pity
my 5.
1. A round robin day to save petrol - went to my exercise class, picked up DGD2 as she's on half term, went to KFC for lunch (which is not at all OS but the first one I've had for months, and I didn't need dinner this evening), dropped the chest off at the tip then back to DD's for a cuppa. I had advertised the chest on freecycle but no takers so sadly it had to go
2. My friend has found a travel agent in India which has cheaper fares than the sites we've looked at. It doesn't mention flying carpets or fakirs so should be alright
3. A beautifully sunny day, raked the leaves up in my little garden. I know it has to be done but I always think the rich autumn colours look so pretty on the lawn
4. Washed the kitchen floor - I haven't done it for over a week
5. After much humming and hawing I've decided I need to go out and meet people, and thought what better place to start than MSE, as I know a little about some of them and not quite as nerve wracking as meeting complete strangers. I believe there's a meeting coming up in November so am going to get in touch with the very nice lady who's organising itbefore I lose my nerve. I can contribute a few wild garlic seeds, not much but I know she'd like them...
Night night, sweet dreams

Caerina - RED is enjoyable and we all laughed at bits of it and it was a good evening out and I wouldn't have minded paying for it. I have paid for a lot worse films in the past.
My five
1. My car started eventually.
2. A HM beef stew with plenty left over and already in freezer.
3. Washing drying outside.
4. A bluetit sitting on the shed there are a lot of them around it seems at the moment.
5. Buying a new bathmat it was reduced and has made the bathroom look so much fresher.0 -
Morning Everyone,
1. I have just spent a very pleasant hour catching up on a few pages of this thread. (No time to reply to all in an Ollie style post, but I do enjoy reading about everyone.)

4. Yummy fish and chips for tea. (20% off with our Merlin cards).:money:
5. Doing some of the rides in the dark.
Have a lovely day. Planning a trip round the charity shops, so wish me luckHE x

Morning all. Olliebeak, please send one of those cakes my way. Here are my five for yesterday,
1. More tidying in the house - trying to make it more mine and the kids.
2. Dog walk in the beautiful sunshine and seeing the squirrels.
3. Pizza for tea so no cooking required.
4. Going to the cinema and laughing at the film with my girls. Took our own cola and popcorn to make it OS.
5. DD2 sleeping in my bed - very snuggly.
Best wishes to all. X0 -
5 for yesterday (Monday)
1) My sister got her mortgage approved - hoorah! Perhaps she'll be in by Christmas :-)
2) Went to Sainsburys with no children so had a look around.
3) Washing machine man came (again) and it's working now.
4) Made a roast for tea.
5) MrN came round. :-)
Apart from all of the above, am getting a bit stressed again :-( The ex decided not to bring the boys back at 1pm (as per the court order) but to appear at 2.15 by which point I had invented all sorts of catastrophes in my mind. :-(0
