    Evening all.

Frith - that's great news about your sister's house - fingers crossed she gets in by Christmas.

sparrer - I hope you enjoy the OS meet up. They always sound great and I'd love to go to one, but I don't fancy trekking up to London from Portsmouth, particularly in November. Ah well, one day!

Ollie - I hope your cold hasn't been too bad today. I'm starting to agree with whoever said it must be spread via this thread (beachbaby, was it you?) - I think just about all of us have had it now! :(

Tealady - WD on the giant muffin cake - it must have looked wonderful. :) I hope your DD had a lovely birthday.

marmite - I love the term 'crystal drops'. :D I'll have to remember that next time my mog is dribbling - sorry, crystal dropping - on the sofa. :);)

    My pleasures for today:

    1) My first mince pie of the year courtesy of a generous colleague who went to the bakers for one and came back with a whole bag full. :A

    2) Got a message to say my broken mobile phone has been repaired and I can collect it tomorrow. I know I should be grateful to the store staff for lending me a phone while mine's being fixed - ad I am, really - but it's a horrible old brick of a thing and I can't wait to get my nice new one back.

    3) Popped into the shops to get some cat food and found the cheese I need for next week's meal plan on RTC. :)

    4) Changing my mealplan for tonight to have casserole with dumplings instead. It's naughty from an OS POV, I know, but it's such a miserable night that dumplings are all that really appeal to me. :o

    5) Putting my breadmaker on when I got in from work, and knowing that, by the time I go to bed, I'll have a nice, fluffy, HM loaf for the morning. :)

    Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Hi all,

    1. Seriously busy day at work means job security for the moment ;)

    2. PAYDAY :D:D:D

    3. Getting some jobs done I've been putting off - booked the MOT and the time off work to get it done, got keys cut for step son.

    4. A nice breezy walk to work - I love cold dry sunny days.

    5. Being offered a lift home as it was tipping down :)

    6. Sainsbug order is due so in a little while I'll have a full fridge and freezer.
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • Hello again. CCP, yes it was me who said the bugs were being spread on here - cybergerms!
    My five for today,
    1. Going out for some lunch with my sister and her family.
    2. One for the whole week. I'm off work.
    3. Managing 5 miles on the treadmill this evening. Worked up the courage to go to the gym on my own for the first time. Unfortunately nobody really spoke as they are all wired up to their i-pods.
    4. Hot chocolate with my girls. My second of the day. The one I had with lunch was covered in marshmallows. At least I worked them off doing number 3!
    5. My little dog in her red jumper - so cute.
Going to finish my hot chocolate now. Love to all. X
  • 1) Finishing off my OU essay. I'm rubbish at organising my thoughts and I agonise over whether I've got all the right things down so I can just forget about it until the result comes in.
    2) Using up some stock and bits of pork from the fridge to make a risotto for lunch. We fell off the MSE wagon this summer and so I'm trying to be extra good at the moment.
    3) Used the breadmaker and the slow cooker today.
    4) Have now finished the back of my chunky jumper and am starting on the front. I'm not getting much pleasure from the bright blue wool but it was free and I've decided I will dye it charcoal when I'm done.

    Can't think of a 5th but since I had 6 yesterday, that's ok.

    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Another day off work and I can have tomorrow off as well as the project I am working on has encountered some more problems. I'm hoping they won't be resolved this week so that I can have the whole week off as originally planned.
    2. Few reduced bits in Waitrose including a cooked chicken for £2. So Rubber chicken this week. Already had first meal out of it and will use some more tomorrow for OH lunch. Also got some lovely treacle tarts, naughty but nice.
    3. Free lego with a 45p newspaper put away for nephews xmas
    4. Printed out some free £5 Debenhams vouchers thanks to MSE to use either for more presents or some nice towels for when the bathroom is finished
    5. We bought the glass tiles that we are using for a feature in our bathroom. We had changed our mind to what we originally where going to have and they are half the price:j. Just as well as have found a nice flooring which is twice the price:eek: as one originally going to have. Thank goodness we only have a small bathroom so dont need too much. Starting to get quite excited about having it done now, not sure I will be saying the same when everything has been ripped out and we have no bathroom for a week:eek:

Hugs to all who need them

    Hi all

Today I was at work all day but luckily today was also my Friday (see pleasures)!!!

Ladyhawk, sorry to hear about your work stress (I feel your pain, believe me!). Treat yourself extra-nicely in your personal life while going through difficult work times, it helps!

Ollie, I hope your cold is only a short one and clears soon (sorry for having passed my cyber-germs to so many people!).

Sparrer WOW, what can I say, such good news, I am moved! Not only the lovely surprise of your trip to the meet but also wild garlic seeds! Do you need any Italian veg seeds? I shall bring a fair few so come armed with some cling-film, sellotape and labels!

VillageLife, thanks for letting me know about Red, I shall book to go and see it with the kids!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - Breakfast yellow stickered teacakes with the blackberry jam that my Italian colleague left for me on the desk yesterday - yummy!

2 - Lunch at the vegetarian cafe near my work, that was a delicious stew with salads and couscous. I have made the decision that even if the lunches cost me more than a packed lunch, they are very healthy, they are warm food in this cold weather, always at least 3 portions of freshly cooked, sometimes organic veg - they also make my workday a little less depressing. While I am in work and earn a salary I am going to treat myself to proper hot lunches (mostly), after all it is only a couple of days per week and also helps support that lovely little community cafe.

3 - Wonderful surprise, my boss said that she does not need me tomorrow so I have the day free! It is going to be a bit harder next week when I have to make up the hours but as we have a big event on Monday I shall probably do a 10 hour shift - at least - and that will go towards rebuilding my flexitime credits.

4 - After work, salt cave with a colleague, on a free introductory visit. They say it takes at least 5 visits to feel the full benefits but I feel that my chest and nose are much clearer. It is a lovely peaceful relaxing room with all the surfaces covered in sea salt and a machine sprays a fine mist of rock salt. There are comfy chairs and magazines and fairly dim lights. Both my colleague and I fell asleep! I still have a deal voucher for two more visit and we agreed we will do it together again next week!

5 - Dinner with the family, Approved Food tortillas with special offer Felafel, with hummus, salsa and chopped lettuce. Simple, quick, delicious and healthy - what more can one ask for?

6 - The Courtesy Club, which I have started, has a lot of takers. I am a bit worried as it is going to be moved to the Arms, which is a thread I find a bit intimidating and not as friendly as the OS one. But we shall wait and see...

7 - Sparrer is coming to the meet!

8 - And she is bringing me wild garlic seeds!

    Good night everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all,

As it turned out the delay to my project was a blessing in disguise... phew! I think that the out come will be bigger and better than expected now we have 4 weeks more to complete it in.

I had a really vivd dream lst night (yeah, I know... other people's dreams are boring)... basically it centred around me being chatted up by a man at a bar and he then left me with the bill for £188 for the drinks. Anyoe who reads anything into dream may deduce that I have an issue with not trusting men... moi?

    1) NSD! Took in a nice HM roll (half whole wheat/ half white with linseeds), roast lamb, HG tomato and HG lettuce, followed by a HG apple that a friend gave me.

    2) Getting a few boxes of lovely fresh veggie samples that I could share with my colleagues. They were organic and people complained when they realised there was wildlife in it... a few slugs and snails never hurt anyone and really was just proof that they were organic! Can't please everyone!

    3) Cup cakes that were left over from yesterday

    4) A little sleep in this morning. I decided to give myself an extra half an hour sleep as te roads would be quiet on the way to work. I still got in just before 9am though.

    5) Laughing at my poor kitty cat who was curled up next to me as I was watching my periennial favourite, Don't Tell the Bride... poor little mite got hiccups and didn't like me laughing at him.

    6) Cheeky 6th... got a call from someone who was responding to my freecycle ad about horse manure. I was really dubious about the contact when I first got the email asking for my phone number. Anyway the lady seemed really lovely on the phone so I am going round on Saturday morning to pick up some poo! If don't post on Saturday evening then please call the police... i might be buried under a pile of manure!

    Sleep tight

    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
  • Hi all, I've been slacking with this again. I hope you are all well.

1 - Resisted buying a magazine for the train and took a book instead
2 - homemade soup for lunch
3 - homemade pizza for tea

Evening  - cold, grey, miserable day here - needed to 'fast forward' the c/h timer at teatime! lol at the comments about cyber-bugs :rotfl:.

sparrer - wd you on deciding to go to the next meet-up. I'm sure you'll have a great time - only wish I lived closer to London :(. What a lovely idea to share your wild garlic seeds :T
villagelife - amazing how something as simple as a new bathmat can make the bathroom appear 'spruced up' - :j.
house elf - wd on your great family day out AND using discount cards as well :T.
beachbaby - ok then hun - here you are, CATCH ;)! sounds like you and your girls are enjoying the half-term break :).
Frith - sorry to hear that your ex is trying to push your buttons - very :naughty: of him!
CCP - wtg you on sorting your mealplan and wd for having it flexible enough that you could 'shifty' something around to suit yourself :T
newlywed - good news on the job security for the time being :j.
Patchwork - wd you on getting so much done - cooking, assignment, baking AND knitting :T
Tealady - Hope you half-term continues to be a good one.
Caterina - enjoy your free day off tomorrow - hope you find something interesting to do :).
Ladyhawk - well done on all your freebies - veggies, cupcakes and horse poo - great stuff :j.
RainyWednesday - :money:- great moneysaving from you :).
fairylittle - join the 'bug club' hun ;). Great excuse for some B&J's lol.

    Mine for today:

    1. Porridge with honey and a slice of (whoopsied) Burgen bread toasted with marmalade for breakfast mmmm .

    2. Visit from my Housing Officer this morning. Not seen him for 6mths cos he's been off following a hip operation - great to catch up on office gossip and hear about 'life in their world' and how the cuts are affecting them all. Much grumbling in the ranks because the FREE tea and coffee for all staff has now been stopped - lucky them that they had it at all!!!

    3. Heard a tale about somebody trying to pull a stunt on some of my pensioners. A guy telling them he's a new window cleaner and will do their windows for £10 up front and nothing more to pay until January. Think it may have unnerved them a little, BUT now reported to Trading Standards and local Police. Cheeky bgr - he's now got a fight on his hands  !

    4. Made an apppointment to see the GP tomorrow - think I need some antibiotics to shift this as it's now become a chest infection. The toe is now turning a really glorious purple colour and it's gone into the next toe as well!

    5. Savoury Mince, mashed potatoes and braised cabbage with leeks for evening meal. All out of the freezer - so virtually free! It also leaves me with some spare space in there :j.

    6. Have taken a big tub of 'Carrot and Butterbean Soup' out of freezer for tomorrow's evening meal, so no cooking tomorrow ;).

That's me done for this evening - nitey nite all - hope all the 'snifflers' are feeling a little better tomorrow - love Ollie xxx
