I now feel that I should make carrot and butterbean soup for the weekend. I does sound good.

    1. A good day at work not too busy but enough to be doing something all day.

    2. Being able to leave work 5 mins early and with the traffic being quieter I get home about 15 mins earlier.

    3. Menu planning for the next two weeks.

    4. DS2 doing homework without being asked.

    5. Clearout of airing cupboard.

    Morning Folks,

Attempt 2 at posting...... I was up early like Villagelife, but not awake enough to remember to preview and save my post, so it got lost in the ether

A bit despondent last night thinking that it was half way through my hols and I haven't really achieved anything in the way of cleaning the house or preparing for school. However, getting it in perspective, I have spent time with my family. What is more important I ask myself?.......

    1. Cinema with DS2 to see Alpha and Omega. He liked it and I liked the animation. V pretty!

    2. Made Chocolate crispy cakes, gingerbread, chilli, chicken strogonoff and laundry gloop.

    3. DS2 had little friend round to play, so I was able to do cooking. (See 2).

    4. Ordered some clothes using an internet voucher. Hope it will be honoured. :money:

    5. 2nd trip to cinema with DH, and another Orange Wed ticket, to see Burke and Hare. No kids, so only had to share Poundland Toblerone with DH. :)

Off to carve some pumpkins with DS2. Have a lovely day. HE x
  • next door to me live to very young fashion conscious young ladies, they have just brought me a bin bag full of clothes they no longer want/need!:T
there's tops, skirts, skinny jeans, tshirts for me and my daughter , really good quality too, i'm over the moon, i dont even know them that well, only moved here a few months ago,
do you think they feel sorry for me? :rotfl:

    Hi all

Sorry to hear about more cyber-virus casualties, look after yourselves, keep warm and get well soon!

CCP you are right, the cafe is a little jewel, shame about the workplace (see pleasures)!

Frugalpam, well done on 21 months not smoking, many congratulations!

Here are my pleasures for today:

1 - DS made me breakfast (beans on toast).

2 - I went out for a treat bought ages ago as a mob-deal, a lovely foot scrub and massage. It was one of the most relaxing massages I have ever had.

3 - Bought a Xmas present for DS using the £5 off Debenham voucher.

4 - Haircut in a really posh salon in Covent Garden, courtesy of another mob deal offer I had bought ages ago.

5 - Planning veg sausages and colcannon for dinner tonight, found potatoes yellow stickered in the supermarket.

6 - After so many changes of mind, yesterday I made the firm decision that I shall not accept a renewal of my work contract. I shall tell them a couple of weeks after next week's big event (but I also have 2 weeks holidays to take so I only have 6 more weeks YIPPEE!!!!!) It feels very liberating to have made a decision and I know this time I shall stick to it!

Have a great evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Not at all julie, I imagine they would rather give the clothes to someone they know and like than taking them to a charity shop.

    1) Went to hospital today about the pain I am still having and got a lovely doctor who is prepared to give me another ultrasound. Strangely, I live on the border of two health authorities (at least) and the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. I was really scared of a) being pushy b) taking up someone's valuable time but I feel so much better now.
    2) Lunch at the local coffee shop afterwards - not MSE but lovely family time.
    3) Should be studying but I've done a few rows of my free jumper instead.
    4) A friend is making me and DD a meal this evening and then we are going to the local panto. I am so looking forward to it.
    5) Managed to order MIL's Christmas present. She wanted a necklace which immediately went out of stock on the internet but we rung a store instead and they are posting it out to us. Phew!

    Have a lovely evening, everyone.

Been MIA due to nasty flu bug :( so all you poorlies have my sympathy.

Please could you tell me what MIA means?

Hope all those of you who are poorly feel better soon.Reminds me of a story I heard recently,it might have been somewhere on this forum.A wee boy was visiting a sick relative with his Mum,and was looking at the Get Well Soon cards. He turned to ask his Mum why people said 'Get well soon'.He thought it better to say 'Get well now!'.

Mine for the last few days.

1 Got a lot done on my day off on Tuesday, after resisting the strong urge to draw the curtains and go back to bed for the whole day.

2 Went running Monday and Tuesday, and have walked to work these last two days.

3 Making a nice onion tart, using my own pastry.

    4 Got payed today.

3 I've managed to have a few early nights recently.I really feel the benefit.I really want to try and be in bed every night no later than 10.30pm.New resolution!

Pleased that a few of you liked the phrase crystal drops. So much nicer to say 'Oh is that a crystal drop that I see, sweet kitty' than 'Oh look the cat's dribbling again.'!

Hope you all have a good evening x

    Hi all,

    just posting and then running....

    1. Walked to work for the third time this week - my butt has to reduce some how!! plus it's moneysaving as bus fare is £60 a month

    2. My feet don't hurt as much as they did yesterday :D

    3. I went to the shops in my lunch and looked at buying more comfy boots or shoes and couldn't find anything I liked under £85 (boots) so bought NOTHING!! (except lunch from Pret :o)

    4. Downloaded some beading patterns I've had my eye on - was waiting for payday.

    5. My shopping was delivered late the other day - so a £10 voucher for me :D

    6. Worked out my mega shopping delivery should give us enough meals for 17 days - so hopefully will do better with the grocery budget this month for a change :o

    7. Reminding myself how ill I was this time last year makes me feel more thankful for my fairly good health and all my family.

    Evening all,

Marmite -MIA means missing in action

Caterina - well done in making the decision to not renew your contract. Do you think if your role was more satisfying you would be happier?

Juliet - congratulations on your haul from your neighbours... lucky you!! I wish I had nice neighbours.

Ollie - :rotfl:at your comment to Frith....

I think I have made an error in judgement at work. I got an annoying email from someone and instead of just filing it I sent a rash response...:o oh well... knowing how that person works I would put money on it being forwarded to my boss.

    1) Collecting a bag of quinces from a nice freecycler. We have "done business" before which is the way it should work.

    2) Chip testing over lunch... As usual I ate to many! :o But I think the outcome was what I wanted and all the chefs behaved themselves which makes a change!

    3) Lovely mild day/ evening.

    4) NSD (4th of the week :j)

    5) Put in my expense claim. I haven't had the time do them for a few weeks so I am really looking forward them to being paid... hopefully next Friday.

Night all... hope you all have a great evening.

    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
