Frith so pleased to hear your sister got her mortgage, and the horrid wait is over :)
CCP I'll be going from Bedford area to the meet but I'm fortunate that I don't have any commitments to keep me at home, a neighbour sees to the dog and the moglets look after themselves for a day. Pleased your phone is fixed, bricks are so heavy to hold to your ear ;)
beachbaby sorry to hear you exercised in silence. Folks are far too dependent on ipods, mobiles etc today, they wouldn't know how to enjoy a few minutes peace and quiet!
Tealady I hope you get your wish for the week off. Good idea to use the Deb's vouchers for gifts, I didn't see that offer (and I'm usually hawk-eyed for freebies) but sounds like a really good one
Caterina I'm intrigued by the salt cave, never heard of one other than when I lived in a small town that had old salt mines underneath. You certainly do find some interesting places to visit. Thank you very much for the offer of seeds but I've decided my gardening days are almost over, and am turning my patio into a mini pot orchard with tub fruit trees and bushes :D as they're easy to look after. Quite excited about going on the tube 'by my own' as DHD used to say :)
Ladyhawk what a horrid dream, pleased that's all it was but I'm wondering what on earth you could have drunk in one evening that came to £188  ;)
Rainy do you knit flowers to make brooches from? If so it sounds a really lovely idea. But what's folksy and etsy? Craft sites, perhaps? You can tell I don't know much about these things, can't you ;)
Ollie Good that you found out about the rogue 'window cleaner' in time. Hope you haven't broken your toes, and the doc comes up with some good anti-b's for your chest infection :)
    my 5
    1. A lie-in, all snug and cosy under the duvet while I listened to the rain against the bedroom window
    2. A long, hot shower which drowned out the sound of the rain against the bathroom window
    3. A brunch of bacon, egg, mushroom and tomato on toast while I watched the rain doing it's worst against the dining room window
    4. Cleaned mirrors and pictures to the sound of rain against the sitting room window
    5. Had a nap in the afternoon and woke up to the sound of silence. It stopped raining! Which was a real pleasure as it meant I didn't have to make the pets go out, they went a little more willingly :D

    Night night, sweet dreams

Hugs to all those that need them.

    1. A NSD

2.DS2 walking the dog in the afternoon so I didn't have to get wet when I came in from work.

    3. A dry but dark walk with the dog in the morning but the ice had thawed on the car before I left for work. It meant that I got in a few minutes earlier than normal so had time to enjoy a coffee before I started.

    4. Had LO vegetable pilaff for lunch.

    5. Managed to fix broken wardrobe and it gave me a a chance or made me sort out the clothes so now have to ebay them.

Quick Bonjour - using village College computer as I'm now 17 and 12 days respectively sans 'phone or i/net and, at last '24>48 hours' broken promise call, found Primus's own systems were down. 'We can't even log in...'
So, five pleasures? It feels a good exercise to look for them atm.

    1. Pretty much Solo at Charity Showroom yesterday as L on hols. Foul day, windy, wet, but it drove some newcomers in. Took sticky gingerbread with orange flower cream topping - a v. nice recipe, will use again. Delicious with nice cuppytease.
    2. 2 x reverbe 5p's on Mr T's petrol forecourt, along with 5p off per litre tillspit[as I never spend £50 to receive one of my own these days].
    3. J, another NZer volunteer, recently to Uni for expensive, much anticipated post-grad. course, returned briefly and all is not well...many doubts, bridges burnt etc.[has paid up fully in advance AND 6 mths lodging next to Kent motorway], but we had long talk - our first real one - and txt this a.m. at least reassures re:her safe return, although much to sort out and decide. Fingers crossed for her and her decision. Set out some bullet points/plan of action, which she cannot now find.
4.Thinking of mot, was very conscious of keeping the hour throughout the day, for 2 months since Tony's passing last night.
5.Have earnt sth towards cost of 2 new car door locks(£75 + VAT and fitting)needed desperately, as car cannot be locked and until then, feel I cannot load it in advance, leave it loaded anywhere, put new tax disc in.
    6.Something found which was lost.
7.Knowing to be grateful for use of this limited putah access while eagerly[if wearily]anticpating restoration of own services.
8.Finishing 'Cape Breton Road', 'Markham Thorpe' and now started on the extraordinary Stella Duffy...
    9.All o.k at surgery earlier.
10.Mild-ish, if blustery, and sun is out for now.
11.In Cambridge, managing, via Bus Pass, to attend some of the wonderful free events for this week's Festival of Ideas. See here:

    http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/whatson/ideasfestival/

Kevin Crossley-Holland and the Icecream talk clash - pity.
Until next time, hopefully from home squat....

Catching up after a few days out of circulation:

    1. Laundry drying outside after wet day yesterday
    2. Mending a pair of OH's trousers to keep them in use.
    3. Ministrone soup simmering on the hob made entirely out of home grown vegetables.
    4. Winter lettuce seedlings under bottle cloches all survived recent frost. The nastursiums have all been killed off though.
    5. Visiting farm shop and stocking up on several varieties of winter squashes to store and last us through the winter, so plenty of roast winter vegs and vegetable curries soon to appear on menu.

    Hi,

Spent a pleasant lunch reading through recent posts on here.:)

Quick 5 for yesterday as I need to zip out to collect DD from dance class.

    1. Made apple crumble and dog biscuits. (Aiming to make something every day of the hols).
    2. Trip to the local charity shops, 'by my own', and enjoyed mooching and not buying much. DD v pleased with her River Island jeans.
    3. Stayed in snug and warm as the weather got worse. (Water in the cellar going down even though it was raining, so Severn Trent must have fixed a leak somewhere. They keep telling us the flooded cellar is weather related!).
    4. Accidently put the mouse in the bin with a bag of pasta. At least I have solved that problem!
    5. Text from colleague who runs the lottery syndicate at work to say we have one line with 4 numbers! :j

See ya later with 5 more! HE xx

    Hi all

Sorry for all the cyber-bugged people and best wishes for speedy recoveries, and hugs to all who need them.

    My pleasures:

1 - Ah the delight of not being at work!

2 - Friend came in and we shared breakfast (we often do this as she is very busy during the rest of the day, it gives us a chance to catch up).

3 - My friend brought (and left me) a jar of rhubarb and grapefruit jam that someone gave her, it is truly delicious, a combination I would have never thought of, but it makes sense - the grapefruit provides the pectin to hold the rhubarb together (unlike mine that runs like a sauce! hehe).

4 - The Christmas present I bought for DS through an internet offer came through the post and it is lovely (a Tshirt with an image I am sure he will love).

5 - Meeting up with DH tonight, we are going to have an early (cheap) Chinese meal in Soho and then go to a talk about the environment (our old chestnut:rotfl:).

6 - The sun is shining through the clouds! I might put a wash on if I have the time before going out.

Have a great day everybody x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Evening all,

    1. Warm house.
    2. Fleece blankets, god bless the person who invented fleece.
    3. Yummy meal of mash, beans and a veggie thing. Something so good about mash and beans (baked, non posh variety!).
    4. Admiring my lovely dark purple nail polish (Maybelline and after 4 days still going well).
    5. PUshing the cat out of the bedroom - and bribing her with having the heating on, one settled cat, one good nights rest. Deal!
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Less things. Less stuff. More life.
