5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Comments
-
Evening everybody - lovely day today, but very nippy and looks like a frost settling for the night.
mineallmine - - I've been back about a week - good to see you again. All is fine thanks - had comp/internet probs and now having to resort to the 'old comp'. Good for you with your fave jam - a little self-indulgence now and again is :j. I've got a jar of Pink Rhubarb Jam and it's very  - found in B&M Bargains :T.
beachbaby - Glad you all enjoyed Blackpool AND that it was fine enough for you to get onto the beach. wow you were quick getting that laundry sorted after your trip :T.
Jolaaled - - you're right, that recipe does sound great.
Kitchenbunny - wd on your early driving lesson :T.
Caterina - [STRIKE]Hope[/STRIKE] So glad you enjoyed your trip to the [STRIKE]coast[/STRIKE] Physic Garden - looks like a lovely 'oasis' in the crazy city that is London. Great that the weather stayed fine for you.
Ladyhawk - I wish my lot liked mincemeat-y type things - I wouldn't DARE make that recipe. I'd just end up eating it all by myself . How lovely to be able to use recipes that have been passed on through the family in that way and a great way of having your life touched by your great-grandmother :T. wtg on the lottery win.
grateful - well done on starting you 'diary' :T - hope it works for you.
newlywed - lovely to see you again  - well done on conquering the white sauce recipe :T! Hope you manage to get the finances for your stepson sorted out soon. Sounds like you've had your hands very full indeed ((((HUGS)))).
Jaxx46 - what a novel way of using a Rock Cake/Bun recipe - another one I'll have to try out. wd on conquering the pressure cooker and wtg on your DS's behaviour - 'Kevins' are very funny on TV screens but NOT in real life
.
CCP - I know just what you mean about overhead helicopters! They're around here quite a lot - only for quite different reasons - usually involving teenage boys and various 'borrowed' modes of transport !
Patchwork - wtg on your freebie wool for a jumper :j.
marmite - lol at the image of the cat and the 'naughty Q-Tip' :rotfl:.
house elf - Hope all goes well for your daughter with her Uni place. I've never heard a French person say 'Ooh la, la!' - no doubt the Fortnum and Mason's coffee prices warranted it.
ott09 - hope you enjoy your well-deserved half-term break - my sister is also on half-term and she now has her gorgeous new grandson to go visit.
Blimus - what a lovely way to spend an unexciting sunday afternoon - under the blankets with a book.
frugalpam - good luck with the craft room conversion - would definitely be a priority for me, if I were in your position :j.
Tealady - thanks. wd on finding that cupcake mould - great bargain :j.
sparrer - wd on your wild garlic - but what a shame about the gooseberry bush.
Mine for today:
1. Didn't manage much sleep last night - combination of v-e-r-y late night and early morning, but managed NOT to fall asleep today.
2. dgd2 (age 3) delighted with her present - a doll almost as big as herself! http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zapf-Creation-Sally-Toddler-Doll/dp/B001CZJWGA - £19.99 online Amazon/£15.99 B&M :j.
3. Helped DD to do the food for the party and we had some good laughs at the same time - not often we get the chance to 'work side-by-side' like that. Last night's fairy cakes went down well - basic butterfly cakes and triple chocolate (chocolate cakes/chocolate chips/chocolate buttercream) with mini marshmallows on top.
4. Spent a good few hours singing along with discs of 'old-fashioned children's songs', doing the Hokey Cokey and playing party games.
5. Now heading for bed as I'm completley 'done in' - should sleep well tonight.
nitey nite all - speak again tomorrow - love Ollie xxx0 -
My five for the past couple of days are
1. The sun being out - it has been cold but I feel so much better if it is sunny.
2. Collecting lots of chestnuts.
3. Friends coming over for a meal on Saturday.
4. A NSD yesterday and finding 2p.
5. Went to cinema to see RED ok but used vouchers so didn't cost anything.
6. Tidy house or at least downstairs is.
7. Sold some things on ebay and listed others - it all helps with the money and decluttering.0 -
5 for yesterday (Sunday).
1) Had a good tidy up - changed my bed, hoovered upstairs and cleaned bathroom.
2) Had lunch at mum and dad's - pigeon!
3) MrN's children (and mine) were all away yesterday so we were able to meet at a sensible time and not wait until they were all asleep!
4) Lit the stove and the house was/is nice and warm.
5) My sons came home and we all had a nice dinner.0 -
Just a quick pop-in
. Wanted to show you a pic of my fairy cakes from yesterday - not made any for ages, so very chuffed with myself.
Hope everybody is keeping warm on this chilly morning and that you're all enjoying the same beautiful sunshine as we are here in Liverpool - love Ollie xx0 -
I had to go there for a meeting last year and couldn't work out what was psychic about it... :rotfl:
Ladyhawk, they grow CANNABIS SATIVA there! More psychic than this I don't know.... when nobody was looking I snipped a leaf to take back home to DS and he was well chuffed, thought it really cool - but I told him he should not smoke it, just keep it as a memento. He said he is going to frame it!:rotfl:
FrugalPam, I read your plan re. spare room to become craft room with great interest, because this is also my plan (and also a work in progress, very much at the beginning of progress!). Will wait for more news, maybe it will spur me into doing more to make it a reality!
Tealady, warmest wishes for your aunt's speedy recovery.
jaxx46, I am so glad you mentioned bluetits in your post, thank you, it reminded me of adding "bluetit" to my pleasures - see below.
Sparrer, I didn't know you could plant wild garlic, I love it, where do I get the seeds/bulbs? I have so much shade in my North facing back garden that I bet it would grow really well there!
Ollie, what amazing fairy cakes, well done you! And also well done for helping make the party a success by joining in the singing and Hokey Cokey!
Villagelife, my kids and I really want to go and see Red, is it good, is it worth paying for (I mean, I know you went free but would you have regretted paying for it?), or should I wait that it comes out on DVD?
Frith, well done on the housework, it is a great feeling when it is done, no? I don't much enjoy the process, I have to admit, but absolutely love the result!
After a very dodgy start of the day (I really felt upset at the thought of going back to work), I have to say that once I was there it was much better, so I have a few pleasures to report:
1 - Arrived at work early and nobody was there yet. I stood outside the front gate waiting for someone to open and reading my book, when I saw a bluetit fly and then sit on a branch of a nearby tree. This was an amazing thing to see, right in the middle of Central London! I felt really privileged.
2 - Being at work was better than I feared. Also my health held fast and I did not cough a lot (that was one of my main fears, that I would cough and cough and not be able to stop).
3 - I managed to book a visit to a man-made salt cave for free (trial visit), together with a colleague, for tomorrow. Supposedly it is very good for breathing issues and will do me the world of good. Will report back after going there.
4 - On my way home I stopped at the supermarket to get some pasta for dinner and found a lot of yellow-stickered foods.
5 - Lovely dinner of pasta with beans (still the Borlotti from the allotment), then I invented a pudding: 2 layers of lemon muffins (yellow stickered), covered with applesauce from Approved Food shopping and topped with cream (for the dairy eaters) and soya cream (for me). It was delicious, almost a trifle!
Good night everybody, hope you are all well, (((HUGS))) to all who need them. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi all, thanks for all the welcomes, have been in a more positive mood today and think its coz of trying to focus on the good bits again
Ollie lovely looking cakies.... yum yum.
1. Seeing the sun going down on the sea on my way home on the bus. Lovely pinky sky and a glassy looking sea. Lived by the sea all my life but still appreciate seeing it.
2. My bus this morning was even quicker to work without the school kids
3. Getting home to OH. Love him loads, even if he drives me insane sometimes
4. OH making me laugh.
5. Ordering my sainsbug delivery and finding things we use on offer
6. Finding I had enough to buy a 36 pack of weetabix and a small wholemeal loaf - so breakfasts are ok for tomorrow and a bit longer too.
7. Buying fish shop style fish fillets and being glad I only paid half price and not the full price - they were ok but not fantastic :rotfl:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Evening all.
newlywed - I'm glad you're feeling a bit more positive today.
villagelife - mmm, chestnuts. I'll have to try and find a tree and collect some - much more OS than buying them.
marmite - LOL at your cat and the naughty Q tip - I hope she got it to behave in the end!
My pleasures for today:
1) A nice sunny day, and quite warm, too (at lunchtime, anyway - it was a bit chilly by the time I left work).
2) Persuading two colleagues to rearrange a meeting as I was too busy catching up to go today. I don't think any of us were that keen on a Monday morning meeting anyway, TBH.
3) A perfectly ripe pear as a mid-afternoon snack.
4) My favourite vegetable side dish - green cabbage with garlic and bacon - with dinner.
5) Typing this post round my super purry puddy tat - almost cute enough to make up for the random letters in my words and the cat dribble all over the keyboard. :rotfl:
Have a lovely, half-termy evening, all (teachers in particular).Back after a very long break!0 -

My family and I,who are all cat-mad,commonly refer to cat dribble as crystal drops. It almost makes it sound exotic!I don't mind crystal drops,I suppose I find them endearing.;)0 -
5 for today:
1) Another lovely sunny day.
2) Nice phone chats with my mum and my sister.
3) Found some old 'Dynasty' progs on youtube - indulged for a while in my favourite childhood soap!
4) DH made a lovely roast chicken dinner while I took DS2 to swimming lessons.
5) Made a strange impromptu trifle with some plum compote, custard and whipped cream. Very nice!DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt
