    Evening All,

    Happy half term!

    5 pleasures for yesterday

    1. Trip to London with DD, DH and DS2 for Uni open day.
    2. Open day a bit if a dead loss, but DD liked the Uni campus and thinks she would like to apply.
    3. Wander around Xmas displays in Liberty and Fortnums gave us lots of ideas for making our own Xmas decorations at a fraction of the cost. (At last my family are learning the ways of Old Style Money saving!:j)
    4. Overhearing a French lady say 'Ooh La La' at the price of the coffee in Fortnum and Mason. :rotfl:
    5. Dinner at Nandos in Covent Garden with 'free chicken' vouchers.

    5 Pleasures for today

    1. Lovely sunny day.
    2. Washing dried on the line.
    3. Fridge freezer cleared and cleaned.
    4. Lasagne for tea made from scratch.
    5. Looking forward to a week of cooking, and looking after house and home. :)

Have a lovely evening. HE x

After my excitement at my first couple of posts and vowing I would ensure I would post daily, I have been very quiet!

The last week at school has been he-e-eectic! Parents evenings etc but now at long last half term is here.

Determined to make most of it-meaning I need to get on with some projects at home-and a little school stuff too. But I MUST NOT waste hours trawling through people's photos on facebook or reading people's walls or (dare I admit it) stalking people I only very vaguely know! Does anyone else find themselves doing that? Then I look at the time and an hour of my life that I can never get back has vanished! Facebook is great in many ways but is a complete nightmare for procrastinators like me. However, I see time spent on here as time well spent.

    As for my five:

    1. Beautiful sunny autumnal day here.
    2. Had lovely dinner in slow cooker- bargain and very tasty.
3.Not at all OS but should save money in the long run as mine is on its way out- I have a new car- and I get it very soon. Very exciting.
    4. Ironing watching iplayer.
    5. It's Sunday night and I don't have that nasty feeing I usually get on Sunday when 'm desperately trying to get my planning/marking done before bedtime. Love it.

Happy half term to all teachers and have a wonderful week everyone else too.

Look forward to a week of catching up xxx

    Good evening,

More thanks for all the new compliments about hair and pinny, I feel like a real Pin(ny)-up now!

Great to see you back on the thread, newlywed, welcome back!

I am feeling a bit in the dumps if I think that I have to go back to work tomorrow, even if I am really grateful for being well after two weeks of really poor health. However, this is making me think more and more that I want to be a housewife, not a career woman! Watch this space (and apologies if I keep repeating myself about this!).

So to cheer myself up, here are my pleasures for the day:

1 - Gloriously sunny day, DH and I decided to go out, were thinking of the seaside but it proved impractical so....

2 - ...instead we visited Chelsea Physic Garden, with the 2 for 1 railway voucher. It was lovely, such a beautiful little secret corner of London!

3 - We had a very nice (if a bit overpriced) lunch there.

4 - Then we went to the Tate Britain and saw some really beautiful paintings and (in my - possibly very ignorant - opinion) some less interesting stuff (I just don't "get" some of the contemporary "art").

5 - Back home, we are making a bean and sausage casserole with the last of our Borlotti beans from the allotment, and with dumplings.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Caterina - love the hair and the pinny!
Welcome jaxx and nice to see you again mineallmine and newlywed
Ladyhawk - well done on your lottery win. We always dream about what we'd do if we won the lottery - might be an idea to but the ticket first! :rotfl:

    Here are mine from today:

    1) Made some banana muffins with some over-ripe bananas that I'd frozen a while ago. Does anyone else have the problem of their muffins not ever being muffin size with proper muffin tops? They were tasty but it would be nice if they looked like proper muffins!
    2) A NSD as we didn't go anywhere and just bimbled around the house all day.
    3) A naughty pleasure - got into bed to read for a while this afternoon and put the electric blanket on. Under the extreme cosy conditions, I fell asleep, of course! :o
    4) DH has just made a lovely fire.
    5) DS2 is watching 'Surf's Up' - it's such a pleasure hearing his comments and giggling as he watches.

I had to go there for a meeting last year and couldn't work out what was psychic about it... :rotfl:
    Man plans and God laughs...
Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening everyone!
I've had no end of problems with internet access this past week - was totally without broadband for 3 days, and it's been very patchy until today :( Fingers crossed 'good' old Virginmedia have sorted it out.

Other than that it's been a pretty good week. Today's pleasures:-

    1) Finally making a start on sorting out the spare room I plan to convert to a craft room :j It's going to be a work in progress for quite some time, but the worst part - actually beginning - is done
    2) Really starting to feel the benefit of having gone part time at work (do 2 days now) - so great having time to do everything at a more leisurely pace and have the time to dabble in crafts
    3) Had a go using the 'Cuttlebug' (card makers will know what it is) at our local craft shop - fantastic. I'm hoping Santa will bring me one this Xmas ..
    4) Still doing WW - have finally made up the points I blew a few days ago on a McDonalds chicken wrap and fries.
    5) No work tomorrow

So much to catch up on in here - but meantime hope everyone is ok.

    Pam x

    Evening

Sparrer - I cant express how  i am on your behalf. I can't believe how insensitive and selfish some people can be.
Caterina - Love the hair and the pinny
Ollie - Congratulations for the new addition to the family

Pleasures for the last couple of days:
    1. Went to Britains Next Top Model Live with DD and one of her friends plus a friend of mine. The girls went off and did there own thing and the mums enjoyed a glass of champagne not MSE but lovely.
    2. Having Friday off work plus off tomorrow as DD's birthday:j
    3. Spending yesterday morning with OH looking at tiles for our bathroom refit. Think we have finally decided on which ones to go for and much cheaper than ones originally picked. Just need to agree on flooring now.
    4. Having a nice meal out yesterday with OH and DD and just sat playing card games after meal. Nice family time
    5. Managing to get a giant cup cake mould for DD's birthday cake as this was what she really wanted. Didn't manage to get the £5 one in the works as sold out but got one for £8 which is better than the lakeland one for over £25:eek:
    6. Cake made just needs putting together and icing tomorrow bit scared about this bit
    7. Not a pleasure but my aunt is in hospital as she had a stroke but the pleasure is they expect her to make a good recovery

Hugs to all who need them

    Evening all,
    My 5 for today...
    1) Beautiful if cold autumn day, managed to dry bedding on line.
    2) Have overcome my fear of the pressure cooker :rotfl:
    3) DS only had 1 "Kevin" moment
    4) Sorted out the birds feeding station yesterday and now i've got bluetits (& not just because of the cold) :o
    5) Managed to work out how to use the scanner :D "all by my own" as DGS1 would say.

    Best Wishes to all x

Again thank you so much for you kind words and thoughts. I've been trying to put a letter together for the relative but it's not the right time yet, I need be calmer, less emotional.

Welcome to even more newbies , good to see you posting. Thinking of your 5 every day is very theraputic :)

    mine for the weekend

The 'new' chest of drawers and dressing table were delivered but the chest had been damaged in transit so it went back, and a replacement delivered the next morning.
    No spend weekend
Planted the wild garlic and started to remove the dead goosebery bush
Postie brought me a £10 voucher from a survey site
    Still no heating on

Hugs to all who need/want one, sleep well
