I meant to say I love the hair too Caterina, very funky!
My first pleasure...
1. Someone (ie KitchenBunny) asking for my Nandos recipe!
Now I feel a bit of a cheat but here goes...
1 x free range chicken, quartered
2 x bottles of Nandos hot marinade (can you feel the guilt!)
1 x hour at least for everything to marinade, lots of putting marinade under the skin, and stabbing it with a knife so the marinade really soaks in.
Bake for about 1 and a half hours. If you leave it overnight it is even better.
AND my other pleasures...
2. Peanut butter on toast with a coffee from my Nescafe machine
3. Smug feeling of doing washing whilst surfing the web
4. Bright sunny day.
5. Quite literally giving the dog a bone - the white pets at home variety. he literally jumped in the air with happiness.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

KB - fruit mincemeat is so simple to make. I have used Delia's recipe this year, which involves bunging nearly all the incredients into a bowl, leaving over night, whacking it into the oven for 3 hours, adding the brandy, then bottling. Simples!

Hi guys. My five for the day
1. Peerless sunny day.
2. Lie in.
3. Toast and marmalade brekky.
4. Started a diary on MFW.
5. Looking forward to decoration we have planned. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
hi guys,
have been missing for a while, been so busy at work and then again when I get home so I've been totally wrecked. Plus since end of July have had one of the step-kids here 5 days a week (and for the entirety of august as his mum told him he wasn't allowed back home ) still waiting for child benefit to get off their behinds and sort the money out (apparently she's not answering their queries) and also tax credits (she says she won't send it till she knows step son is happy here - er it was him that asked to stay here and he's been fine all these months without her bothering with worrying!!)
Hugs to all who need them, sorry i've not kept up.
Anyway here's some of mine from the weekend:
1. The sun shining
2. Seeing two of my nephews - they make me smile
3. Finally managing to make an edible non-lumpy white sauce for my lasagna - might be time to say bye bye to Bisto white sauce (i'd run out and have no more money till payday). It's an achievement as for the last 5 years every time I've tried I've ended up with what looks very much like baby milk sick!!! :rotfl:
4. Being given some parsnips (as they were bogof and wouldn't all be used) - thanks mum - they were very good in the beef stew last night.
5. Being given some beads - I gave unused buttons to a friend with no thought of anything in return so it was a lovely surprise as her unwanted beads are very pretty.
6. Getting compliments on my necklace of beaded beads. Was inspired after the somewhat expensive visit to a Stitching show in London where there was lots of beads
7. My supermarket helping confirm that my last few pennies before payday were well spent in my usual supermarket (obviously checked before I went there).
8. Managing to make pizza base and toppings from the storecupboard and freezer for lunch yesterday - so glad I froze that half pack of pepperoni etc - at one time they'd have gone in the binworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Stir in egg & milk to make a stiff dough
Roll out roughly to size on a floured surface & press into the tin
Cut out about 16 bars
Sprinkle dem sugar on top & press in
Bake about 25mins. break into bars when cool.. Really lovely despite such a simple recipe.
Just popped in with recipe as requested, will try and come back and do my 5 later.
p.s thank-you for the welcomes, they were a definite pleasure.Sometimes not moving backwards is as much an achievement as moving forwards is on other times. (originally posted by kidcat)
It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
Evening all.
jaxx - hello and welcome to a fellow Pompey fan. Thanks for the rock cake bake recipe - that sounds utterly scrummy.
newlywed - WD on the white sauce - it's something I always have trouble with, too.
beachbaby - it sounds like you had a lovely time away with your girls. WD on spotting the discounted dress for your DD - what a find!
Ollie - my sister's BF is a Liverpool fan in exile, so I know all about the goings on. Sadly I know exactly how it feels to see your team in that position - I hope it gets better now.
My pleasures for today:
1) A lie-in this morning - the last one for a while as I'm back at work tomorrow.
2) Watching the re-run of the grand prix this afternoon and being very glad I didn't get up early to watch it - I would have been very annoyed to get up at 7 for a race that ended up running so late.
3) The moment the helicopter filming the Great South Run finally stopped hovering over my house and flew away. There's just something about the noise that sets my teeth on edge, particularly when it's overhead for several hours.
4) Filled my last empty pots with winter pansies. I've now run out of room and will have to buy another pot or two to house the last dozen or so plants.
5) Rescued two overgrown French beans - they're now too big to eat, so I'll dry them to grow more plants next year.
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hi Peeps!
Hope you are all well!
I have had a lovely day - just pottering about.
1) I went shopping and spent £10 and got my new winter coat, a lovely fluffy dressing gown, soe Cath K!dson rose hand cream, 2 big bags of bark chips for the garden, a blueberry plant and some groceries! Ok I had £100 worth of vouchers which helped significantly. For some reason the bark was reduced to £2 each instead of £6... and I found £2 in the trolleys that people hadn't bothered to reclaim! Bonus for Ladyhawk!!
2) Roast lamb with the trimmings for supper (even if it is only for me!!)
3) Making a big pot of soup for lunch tomorrow. And some bread rolls to go with it. I'm working from the London office tomorrow which has a microwave which my normal office doesn't.
4) Clean bedding tonight... with an extra duvet! Cozy toasty warm!
5) My mum gave me a recipe book of all her favourite recipes for Christmas last year which featured a recipe from my grandmother and great grandmother. I am going to try making my great grandmother's ginger bread recipe tonight as well. I didn't know grandparents let alone my greatgrand-parents who must have been born in about 1875 so I am really excited about trying out her recipe! I suppose that I will have to wait for one of my brothers to have a daughter for me to be able to pass them on.
6) Won £10 on the lottery last night. The first time I have played in ages!
Have a great week everyone.

Good evening all. Just going to post mine for today before going out to work.
1. A gogeous sunny day.
2. Washing drying on the line.
3. A wonderful supportive family.
4. DD1 stopping at home tonight.
5. Empty wash basket!
Best wishes to all. X0 -
1) More free pototoes for lunch, with dahl and a jam tart after.
2) Leftover dahl with rice for tea (yes, I know it's lazy but I can't be bothered to cook again) with gluten free apple pie made from the bottled apples I did in September.
3) Coffee date with DH. Why do we talk more when we're out?
4) Knitting some of my free wool (from a friend's Grandma's loft) into a jumper. It's a bit wobbly but I'm determined to do something with it and winter nights are drawing in.
5) Free fire courtesy of our joiner friend. I really must make them another cake.
Thank you for all your posts. I really enjoy reading them and find them so inspiring. Keep it up!0 -
Good evening!
Mine for today:
1 Had a nice day at work. It's been a quiet weekend.I even got off a bit early.
2 Have managed a mealplan for next week which doesn't involve a trip to the shops.
3 Having an early night tonight.Going to bed with my book-the warmest place to be.
4 Watching my cat's acrobatics as she skillfully duffed up a naughty Q-tip.
5 I've saved the best for last.I worked to work this morning in the rain and arrived at work with my socks half-wet.Luckily I had a spare pair of socks in my locker.I would have been in a foul mood, walking around all day with damp, cold feet.
Ladyhawk pleased for you at your Mum's good news. Thanks for the mincemeat recipe;I like the sound of that one.
Caterina like the hair-and the pinny!
Have a good week x0
