Evening
Caterina - Hopw you start to feel better soon
Pleasures for today:
1. Wasted journey to Horsham today as couldn't get on with the work planned but at least it meant I got to leave early
2. As got back early popped into a friends for a cup of tea and a catch up
3. Got home to find that the facias and guttering had been nearly renewed on the house. Wasn't sure if the man was going to turn up. House now looks much tidier from the outside.
4. Knowing there was enough money in the bills account to pay for the work done in 3 and not having to touch any of the savings accounts.
5. As know we have a busy week cooked tonights dinner of meatballs and pasta plus a curry for tomorrow and a cottage pie for wednesday. Also baked a bakewell tart and some chocolate muffins.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
My thanks button is back
Blimus your holiday sounds sublime! Had to smile at your comment about Norfolk though as it's quite flat here too, but on a clear day, if we squint, we can see a hill in the distance
carrie enjoy your day off, gotta love the childrens school stuff. Make sure you get the last chololate this time...well done on the win
Pam congrats on the loss, as you say it all helps. The broccoflower sounds yummy, two of my fav veggies in one
beachbaby me thinks there's a bit of guilt feeling from OH, he probably thinks he didn't do enough to entertain the girls when they visited. Silly man. You're another Eastenders fan? I admit to it being a pleasure of mine, though the story lines seem a bit weaker with the loss of Barbara Windsor. No doubt they'll pick up when we 'get over' her leaving
Caterina I hope you feel better soon, the cough really doesn't seem to want to leave you. Hopefully the inhaler will help sort it out, and let you get some sleep
Rebekah old and new faces are always welcome. Sound sense sorting out the winter warmers now. Don't spend all your time off tidying, save some for 'me' time
Ladyhawk Congratulations on your win :T:T:T, you've worked hard and it's well earned. Lol at the big boss, you shouldn't let her intimidate you, she's human enough to forget her specs so she can't be perfect, can she?
Tealady good to know the facias etc have been done, a job which doesn't seem essential - til the weather turns bad! Well done on getting ahead with the cooking for the week
1. Got an early GP appointment, got some anti inflamatories for arthritis which seems to enjoy hitting different parts of me at random timef. He's also going to arrange physio and an OT to visit home to see what, if anything I need. Had my flu jab while I was there so saves me having to go back.
2. Went to my exercise class and enjoyed the laughs and the company
3. Picked DD up afterwards and dropped her at work before going to the tip. The men there are so helpful, I just ask what I should put where and they take it for me
4. Postie brought me a gorgeous Barbara Daly nail varnish
5. It got a bit chilly about 9pm so rather than turn on the heating I took myself off to bed with a cuppa and a good book. Just had to get up to let the moglets in and now we're all going to snuggle down in our respective warm beds to sleep
Night night, sleepy tight

eta hope all is well Frith x0 -
Hi everybody - unpleasant, damp, chilly evening here in Liverpool tonight
.
Bibbitybob - Well done on your curtains - don't you just LOVE friends like that one :j. Hope you kittie continues to feel better.
sparrer - how lovely of your dog to 'introduce' you to some mse neighbours - such a clever animal. And then to have Leonard Cohen sing to you throughout your dinner mmmmmmmmmm. wd on playing the 'helpless female routine' to get the men at the tip to help you :T.
beachbaby - great start to the day - no point in wasting sleepless hours. On the other hand, if I had to choose between ironging/cleaning the loo OR a lie-in, I know which I'd pick :rotfl:. I, for one, quite understand where you're coming from regarding your dd1 - guilty pleasure. Hope your ex calms down about DD1.
Blimus - sounds like you all had a fabulous visit to the Yorkshire Dales - beautiful place.
RAS - hope there's news from Frith soon - that sounds like a very nasty ear infection.
carrie - sorry to hear your job brings so much hassle with it - I've heard similar tales from other folks who work in call centres etc. Hope something else comes up for you.
frugalpam - wd on your weight loss - may not be much BUT every little helps AND at least it's going in the right direction :j:j:j - some star jumps to help you on your way. My son passed his 2stone loss last week - he's so proud of himself - AND had to make more notches on his belt.
Caterina - hope you manage to shake off those bugs soon. Very obliging of your GP to give you time off to read your library books - make the most of the extra week off hun - sounds like you really need it.
Rebekah - love the idea of 'winterizing' - could do with searching out some items myself. wd on finding the jeggings in the laundry basket :T.
Ladyhawk - sorry you didn't win the sunflower comp but WTG on Departmental Employee of the Year :j. lol at your bosslady forgetting her specs :rotfl:.
Tealady - how great that the wasted journey meant that you were able to visit a friend for a chat n cuppa. Wd on getting the outside of your house sorted before winter sneaks in on us.
Not a great deal from me for today:
1. All going smoothly in work at the moment - think the damp weather is keeping them indoors and out of mischief.
2. Bosslady has agreed to me having the time off to go with DD for her Endoscopy.
3. Have put some Butter Beans to soak - will make some Carrot&ButterBean Soup tomorrow .
4. Managed to finish off the baby blanket for my niece's baby - I'll try to upload a photo of it. It's not a big one, just the right size to go over the baby in his travelseat.
5. Bacon, egg, mushrooms and tinned toms for evening meal tonight. We don't often have this, so it's a proper treat.
6. I realised this afternoon that I've got a half-day Mental Health Awareness Week training session booked for tomorrow - thought it was on Wednesday. Had to spend the afternoon contacting all my tenants to let them know I won't be here in the morning - no time to put out notes to everybody .
Hope we all manage a good night's sleep and (((((BIG HUGS))))) for all who need them - especially those who aren't very well at the moment.
Nitey nite - God Bless - Ollie xxx0 -

2. Apple tree in garden is still covered in apples, have had a really bumper harvest this year which I have shared with friends and family, my freezer simply won't hold any more apples at the mo!!
3. Managed to stretch RTC chicken to 3 meals...this forum has taught me soo much
4. Reading this thread and being brave enough to post

hope everyone who has colds, coughs etc is feeling better, hugs to those who need them xx0 -
I've only been here about two seconds, really, and even I missed Ollie! haha Welcome back.
Your posts are just lovely, and it seems like everyone missed you so much.
Here are my 5 for the day:
1. A gorgeous, frothy FREE (hooray!) latte from Starbucks, thanks to a gift card. Oh, how I love a good gift card.
2. A delicious breakfast of homemade oat bran muffins I made the day before and heated up.
3. A lunch of leftover spaghetti from the supper the night before. (Wow, do I ever like leftovers! Hehe - there seems to be a theme here...)
4. A nice day at work, sun streaming in the windows and brightening up everything and everyone. Being good and busy, and yet feeling happily tired at the end of the day.
5. This time to freely read and be amazed by all these lovely frugal folks across the pond in the UK. Reading these boards really does keep one on track!
Oh...and just for good measure:
6. A lovely bubble bath with bubble bath goodies my Mom gave me yesterday - am about to pop in the bath after I'm done with these wonderful forums!
Have a lovely day/night everyone,
Christina0 -

Hello! Am back and nearly better, thanks RAS and others. Am now recorded as being officially allergic to penicillin and am nearly hive-free. Ear no longer hurts which is marvellous after 3 weeks.
Well, will update about the weekend as well as I can then do 5 for yesterday (Monday).
Weekend
1) Went to the wedding of my oldest friend on Saturday. When I was 0-4 he lived in the other half of the semi we lived in. We went to the same university and shared a house there too! So good fun to go to his wedding as I know his brothers, parents and other relations as well.
2) Liked the dancing at the wedding. :-)
3) Had a massive wobble late last week deciding I obviously am incapable of being in a relationship (thanks to past history/being very tired/quite ill). Wrote MrN a huge letter about everything then didn't give it to him but decided I can continue faffing about pretending to be very cool and not very bothered about him or I can pull myself together and enjoy it. Which seems to be working rather well.
4) School friend came round on Sunday night.
5 for Monday
1) Went to mum and dad's for a cup of tea.
2) Walked brother's dog up to the church and played a few hymns on the organ as there was no one about. (My mum is the organist, so it's not as unlikely as it sounds!)
3) Got the house work in order and made a few important phone calls including booking the washing machine repair man in for tomorrow.
4) MrN came round :-)
5) Had the best night's sleep I've had in a long time culminating in a very silly dream that made my sons laugh when I woke up and told them about it!0 -
Hi all,
Thank you for your kind words about my health, the cough has shifted a *tiny* fraction and I am feeling better, so I hope that I shall be completely recovered by the end of the week!
Ladyhawk, many congratulations on the recognition you got from your work, I bet you are proud of yourself (and so should be, too!).
Tealady, well done on your batch cooking - I am always intending to do the same, you will be my inspiration!
Sparrer: I loved reading about the way you managed not to switch on the central heating, we are also trying to resist putting it on until at least 1st November and it is good to be in good company!
Ollie: what can I say - it is great to read your lovely, warm posts again after so long, you have been missed big time!
fairlylittle: welcome to the thread and congratulations to your DH on passing the probation term at work, it is always very reassuring to pass that milestone, isn't it?
frugalastic: great to read the adventures of an OSer from Canada, give us an international perspective!
Frith: I am glad that your health is improving and it is good to see you back on the board!
Only lunchtime but I have a few pleasures to put down for today:
1 - Had a good night sleep and did not wake up to cough - PROGRESS!!!
2 - DD came to have a little cuddle with me before she went to Uni. She is having some stressful times (as always when she is studying) and I am happy that she could open up to me. I need to give her more time and attention I think, to help her with her self-confidence. She is great, but (like so many young women) she does not know it and she needs to hear it!
3 - Lovely breakfast with DS, scrambled eggs with fresh spring onions (from the garden) and chilli (gift from another allotment holder), accompanied by freshly squeezed orange juice (courtesy of DS who did it while I was cooking the eggs). DS loved it and said that we ought to have breakfasts like this more often - I agree!
4 - Started reading "Nella Last in the 50s" and loving it.
5 - Had a long hot bath (what a treat! I probably have no more than 3 baths per year, normally it is a shower for me, as it takes AGES for the hot water to fill the bath). I know, not so frugal or OS but the steam and heat really cleared my chest and I am feeling so much better after it!
Have a great day everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
For today:
1 The usual Tuesday routine of clothes washing and floor cleaning, always satisfied when it's done.
2 Planning what I'm going to bake next.
3 A slice of my curd tart with a cuppa after my run.I heated it in the microwave, much nicer than cold.
4 Watching the birds feeding.I've started feeding them in the last few days and HRF Kira (my cat) has turned into a quivering furry mass with a one track mind.
5 Speaking to my friend on the phone and arranging to meet up.
Have a good evening x0 -
Mine for today...
1. Had an early delivery from Sainsbugs. Got £10 0ff voucher used and saved £5.44 in offers.:T
2. Had a dentist appointment for 6 monthly check up. Had three x-rays, everything is hunky dory, no signs of infection, all fillings in tact. Only have to return in nine months instead of the usual six.:D
3. Lunch in Pizza Express paid for by Tesc* vouchers. Olives, doughballs, calamari and lasagne. Yum:)
4. Went to the surgery for a blood pressure test. It has dropped considerably since being on medication and my bllods are all fine too.:j
5. Fetched elder grand daughter from after school athletics. Gave her some tea and had a bit of a laugh and a cuddle.:rotfl:
Feel better anyone who is not feeling too well.Felines are my favourite
