    Hello everyone

Frith - feel I must join in the other folks and hope you are soon feeling better. Please make sure you are doing as much resting as possible to help your body heal x

Well for today, my 5 are:
    1. Finding a quince tree/bush in a hedgerow and picking a big bag of quinces. Was wondereing what to do with them but have found a recipe on another OS forum - rah!
    2. Having my hair done this afternoon, can't wait to look sleek and shiny instead of a bit raggedy and split-endy
    3. Washing on the line, it's just SO cheering
    4. Cosy jacket potatoes for tea, am looking forward to them already
    5. Voucher through ppost for free Anchor spreadable
    6. Chile miners - all out safe and sound. Amazing what people can endure and what we can achieve as a world when we all work together.

Really struggle to be cheerful when the sky is as grey as it is today. Nonetheless:

    1. Picked another batch of small fruit from what I thought was a chilli plant but discovered, on tasting, that they were actually peppers. Had planned to make Sweet chilli sauce with them but they were too bland, so OH rescued the recipe by adding some cayenne pepper which heated it up nicely.!!

    2. Managed to get to the garden centre to buy some bags of composted manure and Growbag compost on special offer, so that's next Spring's gardening needs sorted out ahead of January's VAT increase!

    3. So pleased all the Chile miners have been rescued. Huge relief for their families, and congratulations to all those who have worked so hard to save them.

    4. Watching various species of birds descend on my pyracantha bushes to eat the orange berries. (Mixed blessing this, as I actually planted them for some Autumn colour).

    5. Have got two enormous globe artichokes for supper which we managed to buy from the market for £1. They are a meal in themselves.

Hope that you recover soon, Frith. (((( )))):)

    Mine today are:

    1. Waking up in a nice snuggly bed in our caravan.:D Duvet under the bottom sheet and two duvets to cover us.

    2. Two steaming mugs of tea and a jam scone and a yoghourt for brekkie. (naughty)

    3. Bought loads of acorn squash from Lidl, to take home with us and store in the shed for winter eating. With a bit of butter and salt and pepper.Yum yum

    4. Watching the Chilean miners all being rescued. One of the best things I have ever witnessed in my life.:T I don't know how they all managed to stay sane. I can't stand confined spaces and would have gone beserk or had heart failure.

    5. Lamb steaks and loads of veg soon, for our supper, some tv to watch and then back into the nest.:o

Have a good evening everyone and hugs to all, who may need them.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

Am so tired today - stayed up to watch the Chile miners being rescued (how fantastic it was to see them all safe) At 2am I was almost asleep on the settee and puddy tat was very confused as to why I was still up so late :D Grey skies all day - feels strange after days of sunshine, and didn't help my mood :(

    Nevertheless, today's pleasures:-

    1) Not having to get up for work and being able to lie in.
    2) Being able to watch some craft programmes on tv
    3) Found a free voice recognition app for my iPhone that WORKS!! Like my phone a lot but am slow typing emails/messages on the touch screen
    4) Nice easy dinner planned using up stuff in the fridge, so an NSD
    5) Looking forwards to getting an early night

Sorry to hear you're in so much discomfort Frith, hope you soon start to feel better. And glad you're on the mend, Caterina!

    Have a nice evening everyone,

    Pam x
  • Hello Ladies, I would like to join in on here too, please. I have been suffering from depression and anxiety for several months and have decided to be more combatant about getting better, and will be trying to do this through positive actions. This is number one.

    1. Joining this thread to focus on the positives.
    2. Waxing my eyebrows myself. :D
    3. HM chickpea and pepper curry for dinner
    4. Good friends
    5. Nice clean kitchen worktops and sink :D

    Evening all.

jackieglasgow - hello and welcome! :hello: It's always nice to have more people on this thread (and I'm very glad to see more of your somersaulting penguin avatar, of which I'm rather fond ;)).

Caterina - I'm glad you're feeling a bit brighter today.

ampersand - I'm not at all surprised that people ask for the recipes for your cakes - your descriptions alone are

beachbaby - your number 2 reminds me of a friend of mine who has 2 grown-up daughters, but barely looks old enough to have a teenager. She once told someone she was 12 when she had her first and everyone believed it for months before she confessed it was a joke.

Ladyhawk - hope you slept well last night - sounds like you deserved it.

My week at work has taken another turn for the worse - my nice chair broke this morning, so I've spent the day perched on a weird rocking stool thing that is supposed to be 'designed for comfort' - it actually seems intent on tipping me on the floor. :(

    Pleasures, though:

    1) One more day at work then I've got a week off, so the stool can sit on its own for a week. :p

    2) Cuddles with my puddy tat when I got home. (Until he spoilt it by biting me.)

    3) HM veg chilli for dinner - although the way my eyes sting every time I go in the kitchen suggests I might have slightly over-done the chillis. :o

    4) Won a BOGOF voucher for Greggs' pasties - dreadful things, but a guilty pleasure of mine (and probably tomorrow's lunch :o).

    5) A week off next week. (Did I say that already? ;))

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

Hi Jackie - nice to meet you
I'm coming through a period of stress and anxiety too - mainly due to work related stress. I've had too many days where things have got me down, and am finding that focussing on the positive aspects of my life has really helped.
I'm quite new to this thread, but find it a very supportive place :j

  • Good evening everyone and welcome to Jackieglasgow. I'm a bit wary of posting tonight with the amount of germs about on this thread! I hope everyone suffering is feeling much better very soon ((((HUGS)))) to all of you. Ampersand, it's great that you think my tone has changed and I am trying to be very positive and grown up about the situation but deep down I still think he is a complete ****(insert whatever you like!). Anyway, on to better things. My five for today,
    1. Being given some Bramley apples from one of my clients.
    2. Getting the house cleaned for when my friend came round - means I don't need to do it tomorrow!
    3. Coffee with my friend - we sounded like grumpy old women the way we were talking.
    4. Building up my new TV cabinet on my own!
    5. Hot chocolate with my girls. (Apparently I make it better than 'him').
    Best wishes to all. X

    Evening all,

    Welcome Jackie!

I go to bed last night and... PING! I was wide awake worrying about a presentation I need to give next month. But eventually I got up and made a hot water bottle and went to sleep soon after. Maybe I couldn't sleep because I was cold.

I have a nasty cold and cough now :( *snuffle*

    1) Brilliant start to the day - I went to buy my train ticket to London and found £5.20 in the machine! I feel guilty about taking it but there was no way to know whose it was... at least that's how I am justifying it myself.

    2) My boss agreeing to give me a budget to make a short film to support an award that I have been nominated for... a really nice surprise!

    3) Yummy CBA dinner of pasta bake - some HM tomato sauce from the freezer and some fusilli pasta with some grated cheese thrown on top.

    4) Finished a square for my blanket

Oooh.... now this is tough... I can't really think of a 5th one...

    5) Yummy hot porridge for brekkie... a habit that I am trying to get myself back into.

Night all... hopefully i can get to sleep early tonight since I want to be in work early tomorrow.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.
