    Evening

    Pleasures for today:
    1. NSD which was much needed
    2. Lovely lunch of left over HM sticky chicken fried rice
    3. Cleared out some more books at home, we now have a charity book box at work for Macmillan so put them in there.
    4. OH has an ebay parcel to return and we still have enough stamps left from the when I did the postal survey so no postage fees
    5. Lovely Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings for dinner. With another dinner plated up for someone tomorrow. The beef was reduced to clear as well so even better.

Hugs to all who need them.
  • Good evening,
Having a problem thinking of Pleasures. The return to work has not been easy for me,even though work is quiet.
    Here goes

1 I have a small unvarnished table on the balcony, which I've sanded and varnished,so it won't get ruined by the rain.

2 My HM soft cheese using my veggie rennet was a success. Now planning to make some Yorkshire curd tarts.

3 Got a lot of housework out of the way today, didn't think I'd have the time or the inclination...

4 I've been running a lot.Three times last week and again today. Can now comfortably run for 45 minutes.

5 Walking to work and still running even though I'm going through a horrible time of unhappy but wilful overeating. The last thing I feel like doing is going out the door in my running gear.Today I've eaten well and sensibly. One day at a time...

Hugs to all who need them x

    Hello everyone
Sorry to have gone AWOL this past week or so - only been dipping in to MSE occasionally and generally felt a bit scattered and harassed with life. I know how good I feel when I take time to identify some positives and post on here, as well as hear how everyone else is - so I'm back :D I will try and catch up with everyone's news bit by bit.
    So - some positives:

1 Feel very lucky I'm able to cope financially with just working 2 days a week. More cash would be nice, but have decided quality of life is so much more important
2 Have resolved to start some serious job hunting again - present job very stressful indeed (part of my decision to reduce my hours). Time for some action on my part!
3 Lost 1.25lbs at last WW weigh in - total now 6.5lbs :j
4 Had a very indulgent crafting weekend which was fab - local card making store had a weekend of demonstrations and I learned loads. Julie Wilson and another lady from 'Create and Craft tv' were there and taught us loads of fun things
5 Puddy tat completely recovered from her infection and making up for lost time - wants to play ALL the time and I was never so pleased to indulge her!

  • Hello all, old and new

    Well, today's 5 are
1..Getting 2 new office chairs for free, the office is moving and they were going to put them in the skip.
    2. Gorgeous garlic roast pork for tea cooked by my old man - oh yummy
    3. My lovely daughter, she's growing up fast and I love her to bits.
    4. Losing 4 pounds at Slimming World - hoobloomingrah!
    5. Feeling so grateful for all our amazing police officers and firefighters, am watching the 7/7 footage on the news and am humbled by the bravery and professionalism they showed that day. In the middle of evil ther's always goodness as well.

    Sleep tight peeps x
2012 Saving challenge £1000/£400! Woo!
  • 1) Spanish-style tortilla for tea, which is a good way of using up wrinkly veg. Our potatoes and beans to go with it and part II of the apple cake. It still tastes nice but is becoming more dense.
    2) A cup of tea at a friend's house, on the way home from work. It's lovely to see her and I feel very relaxed before the drive home.
    3) Rang his Mum and mine this evening. It was about time and I am now up to date with developments in the wider family.
    4) Became a hero for five minutes at work when I took a wasp out of the building with my bare hands. I had to do something before there was a stampede.
    5) Weird but good - massaged a friend's belly today. She's 8 1/2 months pregnant and spends most of her time stroking the baby. It's so good to see someone so happy with all the gloomy stories coming into the news.

Thank you for your kind words Caterina. I'm so pleased to hear you have your home to yourselves again
    Welcome HoneyBee and Bibbitybob
Thank you beachbaby, I'll get there one day at a time
Thank you for the tip CCP, I like simple so will give the plums a go
Not feeling the life and soul of the party today as I received an email from a friend, some of the things she mentioned in all innocence have opened up a wound which I thought healed long ago. Seems this last month or so has really tested me but I'm determined to be back to my old self soon, with my glass half full...of lemonade!

    1. A lie-in til 8.45am, then got up to watery sunshine which got stronger through the day, so no heating on today
    2. Almost a nsd til the window cleaner came. He's very good and does the frames and sills too, really takes time over them so it's a good job worth paying £7 for every six weeks or so
    3. Pottered in the sunshine, cut the grass on the borders - why does it always grow quicker there than anywhere else? - and repotted my Peace rose. It was in a fancy container which had cracked during last years frosts and fell to pieces recently, it's now in a good old-fashoned terracotta one
    4. Made another tea loaf to take to DD in the morning. Roasted a chicken at the same time which will make several meals and soups

    night night, sweet dreams

Pam, I am so in agreement with you on this one, I give thanks every day that I am able to work part time (and a push I could give up work and we would still be ok, even if skimping a bit). It is great to have time to dedicate to family, hobbies, volunteering etc. and still have a bit of an income, isn't it?

Here are my pleasures for the day:

1 - Feeling much better, even though I am still coughing quite a lot. I am feeling much more energy in my body and can be out and about instead of flopped out in bed.

2 - I managed (with some difficulty and with a lot of coughing and spluttering) to drag myself to the herbal medicine clinic and it was good to see the medical herbalist that has always followed my case in the past, as well as some students that I have known for a while and are now near graduation (in fact one of them took my casework today).

3 - On my way back I got a great craving for fish and chips but instead decided to be nice and frugal, so I stopped at Sainsbugs and got the Basics fish fingers and a loaf of organic white bread. Called DS and asked him to prepare some veg in advance. When I came home the veg were nearly ready so we fried the fish fingers and we had a very naughty fish finger and ketchup sandwich, moderated by health-giving fresh sauteed vegetables! Pudding: cooked plums with soya cream. Overall a delicious lunch and fairly healthy, too!

4 - The kindness of people: on my way to the herbal clinic I had a really bad coughing attack and had to stop and lean on a wall. A lady very kindly came to see and ask whether I was ok. I said I had been unwell but was ok now and thanked her. You don't expect this sort of kindness in London these days, it is lovely when it happens.

5 - Thank you Martin! I bagged myself one of the 5000 free Yoga Show Tickets (and got one for my friend, too, so we will go together!).

Hope everybody has a good evening xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Evening everyone! Hope all are well and that anyone under the weather feels better soon.

    My pleasures:-
    1) Ooh - Wednesday evening, and no more work til next Tuesday
    2) Fantastic to see the Chilean miners being rescued - am glued to Sky News as I type. Seeing their relief and their families joy is so heartwarming - puts a lot in my world into perspective :j
    3) Puddy tat gave me a lovely welcome home from work. She then lay across the back of the settee and buried her head in my hair, purring contentedly
    4) Prospect of a lovely lie in tomorrow morning
    5) Am saving a nice little stash of WW points so I can have a nice meal out this weekend - 3.5 in the kitty already

    Pam x
