    Evening all.

    My five for today:

    1) The colours of the leaves on the trees in the office car park, which I can see from the window next to my desk.

    2) Getting the boiler fixed so I can have the heating on at home, just as the weather has taken a turn for the colder.

    3) Found a jar of my dad's HM tomato chutney in the cupboard, from last winter, to put in my lunchtime sandwiches.

    4) HM sausage casserole for dinner - not bad at all for something made up on the spur of the moment.

    5) Only two more days til my week off. ;)

Best wishes to everyone feeling under the weather.
Back after a very long break!

Evening all from a very weary Ladyhawk....

I didn't post yesterday as I had a really manic day of back to back meetings ten dashing to a hotel where I was staying to get ready for a charity dinner I was attending for work.... which went on until 4am... hencethe weariness

    So for yesterday

    1) We raised over £40,000 for charity

    2) My guest (who I had not met before) was left off the table plan (definitely NOT my fault for a change!) but he laughed it off and turned out to be very entertaining and pleasant company. Where as the mn on my otherside was rather rude and obnoxious.

    3) I did not get drunk!! Hurrah!! Maybe I am growing up after all?

    4) Gorgeous food

    5) A very successful meeting with one of our clients who was very impressed with what my company is doing on a range of topical issues.

    6) My friend from work who we think probably has cancer (more tests are being done on Friday) was surprised at the dinner when she was presented with an award for her charitable efforts. She has had such a rotten time recently so it was lovely to see her smile properly for the first time in ages.

    Sooooo... for today....

    1) No hangover!!!! Whoop!! And I only started getting tired once I got home

    2) 12 hours in the office without a lunch break but managed to get loads of work done which was brilliant as it was starting to stress me out.

    3) I was a bad girl... I stopped off at the Fine Burger place at St Pancras station for a burger and chips for supper. I did use a £2 off voucher so at least I wasn't too naughty. I can't remember when I had a takeaway!

    4) Yummy breakfast on expenses of M&S organic blueberry yog, a M&S spiced iced bun, some fruit salad and a cuppa tea. Gotta love expense accounts!

    5) My station was closed this evening (grrr) but the train company layed on taxies to ferry us from the stop before ours to our one - and we didn't have to wait for it and it was dne with the least amount of fuss... what a change!

    zzzzzzzzz....

Night all... sleep well... I know I will!

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening,

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Straight forward journey to our Horsham office both ways even if it does take 1.5 hours each way and I got a seat on the train.
    2. NSD as anything spent today can be put on expenses
    3. Like others have said watching the miners in Chile being rescued
    4. Quiet relaxed eveing at home
    5. Looking forward to working from home tomorrow

Hugs to all who need them
  • Good evening all. I'm typing this while watching the news about the miners being rescued. How lovely to have some good news for once! Frith, sorry to hear about your ear infection returning. Hope it clears up soon. Sparrer, please send a slice of tea loaf my way.
    My five for today,
    1. A lovely yellow flower which has grown through the wall at the bottom of the garden and looks in at my kitchen window as if to say hello.
    2. Being told I don't look old enough to have children of 12 & 14! (It could be a lie but I don't care).
    3. Getting extra hours at work - meaning extra money for christmas with things being tight this year.
    4. Coming to the realisation that even though I really miss the girls when they stop over with their dad I at least know they are happy and well cared for. I know that some women (and men) are constantly worried if their partner has the children and that must be awful.
    5. A busy day at work, but coming home tonight to a warm house, a hot shower, a cup of coffee, a jam butty and a goodnight phonecall from the girls. Life can't be bad!
    Best wishes to all. X

Welcome to newcomers Honeybee83 and Bibbitybob and thanks for your empathy Caterina.

Beachbaby, again I have to say how striking is your changed tone - truly a remarkable thing to read back on and see transformed in no great stretch of time. Your thoughtful insight re: ex OH behaviour during access is something that Frith knows all about. Frith, be careful now. Your earache has returned; hives are never a joke; we're heading into winter. You've been under the weather for a good week now and you must not do the typical too-much-too-soon woman thing.
    Please.
Apart from which, I'll return to you, beachbaby, and join in concerning the truly vile and hated........
1.Crosstrainer, which I conquered on Tuesday[at a very low level, to be sure] and will meet again a bit before 0700h tomorrow. I am managing the 10 minutes at higher resistance now, works out around 1.8>2.4km, but I will never 'like' it.
2.Raspberries have pretty much stalled now, so I'm eating the ready ones, rather than freezing any more. They are luscious and I see another couple of large, late strawberries almost ready, too. They did very little earlier on.
    3. Chocolate beetroot cake with rose essence cream frosting and melted chocolate drizzled thereon - took to Charity showroom day on Tuesday[it was hectic] - more than divine. I've started doing print-outs of the day's baking as people do ask - all mse recipes, needless to say.
4.Printer now works, thanks to detailed simple help from another poster, confused?, who is going through a horrendous time, having been declared bankrupt without knowing it. Annulment is being sought. Trying to help - more welcome!
    5. Liked Ed M's first outing on PMQs today - underestimation by one's opponents is always helpful.
    6. My hot water bottle awaits me in bed. It's been cold, grey, lowering of soul today.
7.Catching up with odd bits more of Saturday's Grauniad. I take Saturday's issue only, my single bought newspaper per week, and spend a week or more, easily, reading it. Have just come across this on the TV Listings page for last Sat: When Piers Met Lord Sugar, 9pm, ITV1.[Are you ready for a rather tasty example of vitriolic splendour?]
'An obnoxious toady with a misplaced sense of entitlement meets a cockney blowhard with a poor track record in one-liners as Piers Morgan delves into the private life of Lord Alan Sugar.....' Love that first clause.

    That's my ever flexible 5555.
Goodness, I see tomorrow just happened, so Bonne Nuit and restoring dreams to all.

It's been quite an amazing day for Chile, and wonderful to have it on the news channel constantly without interruption from gloom and doom.
beachbaby I got the recipe for tea loaf from the OS board, posted by grumswifie. I would never have believed a recipe with no eggs and no fat worked so well, it really is delicious

    1. Being able to watch the Chile rescues as they happened :j
    2. Taking DGD2 to have her brace tightened. Not much fun for her - other than having half a day out of school - but I'm pleased I can be of help to DD
    3. Went into an Aldi afterwards, never been in one before and it's really quite cheap so got one or two dry goods for the store cupboard
    4. A very nice man came and put a kitchen cupboard door back on for me foc. It fell off again after I put it on so he's done a belt and braces job on it :D
    5. A good evening out with friends

    night night, sleep tight

    5 for yesterday (Weds).

    1) Went to Worcester to meet my friend and she made me get a dress for the wedding I'm going to on Saturday. I don't actually own any dresses or skirts so it was all rather painful but I got one from M and S in the end. Goodness knows if it is "right" for a wedding!

    2) Pretty much on top of the housework.

    3) Really enjoyed watching the miners being rescued in Chile.

    4) MrN came round.

Only 4 pleasures because I am still really ill. Even got hives on the tops of my feet now. Ear is AWFUL and kept me awake a great deal of last night so I am going back to bed in a minute. I have now had this ear infection for 16 days... Am getting thinner though because I can't open my mouth properly because of the pain so haven't been eating my usual quantities. :-(

Poor you, Frith - you sound so unwell. :( I hope your doctor manages to sort this out very quickly (you have been back to your GP, haven't you? I seem to remember you mentioning it earlier this week). Hugs to you, and I hope you get better very soon.
Back after a very long break!

    Hi,

Just popped in to have a quick read of any news.

I am so sorry to hear that you are still unwell Frith, I hope you get better soon. Hives sound really horrible, poor you (((((((HUGS))))))).

I am feeling much better, but not well enough to go to work, I am sure they would not appreciate me coughing and spluttering my germs all over the office, so I shall concentrate on resting and recuperating here at home (and might have a quick outing with DS to get him some shoes for an interview he has got coming).

    See you all later x
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
