Evening all,
Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. I have been up in bonny Scotland for a friends wedding which was absolutely perfect - there was such a genuine warmth and joy that was lovely. Thanks for all the kind thoughts about Mum - I spoke to her this evening and she didn't mention the impending doctors appointment so I am assuming she doesn't know that I know.
1) Being at a lovely wedding with some old friends who I don't see very often.
2) I managed to lock myself out of the house with my only spare key being n South London (NOT a pleasure). Though all was ok in the end as we arranged a relay of people to get the key back to me. What lovely friends I have!
3) Felix being so happy to have me home this evening
4) Visiting the Wallace Monument in Stirling just in time to a presentation on the history of the William Wallace which was very interesting.
5) Easyjet being on time for a change!
Night all...

Happy Sunday,
1. Lovely sunny day. Lots of washing line dried and back door open all day.
2. Dog walk and forrage. Found some elderberries to make elderberry schnapps. Hope it will be ready in time for Xmas.
3. Searching for Villagelifes Apple and blackberry loaf recipe I came across a post I had written in the summer hols. I thought the summer was a bit of a dead loss as I was ill for most of it. However, surprisingly I sounded like I was having a nice time with small son! Perhaps I should re read these pleasures more often.
4. Made chocolate crispy cakes with DS2 and the little friend he had to play thisafternoon. Chocolate everywhere! Made Apple and blackberry loaf with last of the blackberries and a windfall apple.
5. Made some more gloop. Always makes me happy to think a weeks washing costs pennies. :money:
Aiming for an early night as I'm attempting to go back to work tomorrow. Night. HE x0 -
Hi fellow 5 a dayers
Here are mone for today
1. A fab lie-in and read of my Ruth Rendell in bed.
2. Mowing the lawn in the gorgeous sunshine.
3. Buying some Xmas present bargains in Wilko and Debenhams, lovely table mats for only 37p only!
4. Watching Passport to Pimlico whilst tackling the hideous ironing mountain. What a great film it is.
5. Cheese and onion french fries, allowed on the diet. Yes I know it's sad but we did say simple pleasures didn't we?
Good night and hope evryone has a good Monday x2012 Saving challenge £1000/£400! Woo! :wave:0 -
Good evening all. A little late but I have another five for today,
1. Washing on the line by 7 am.
2. A lovely family walk with dogs overlooking the lake and on such a beautiful day.
3. Stopping for hot chocolate from my flask half way on the walk.
4. An ice cream van when we got back to the car park. Cinder toffee & chocolate chip for me!
5. A new to me duvet cover from my mum.
Hope everyone is safe and well. Best wishes. X0 -
Sounds like everyone's had a fruitful weekend, while I've been shirking
1. Visited DM, what I call my regular inspection of Britains motorways - I have to take 3 to reach her and all three had miles of roadworks, plus two long hold-ups on the way home just due to volume of traffic. On the OS side it saved petrol as I couldn't go at my usual pace
2. Had a roast beef dinner out, DM has a junior portion so with drinks included it cost just under £12
3. Someone approached me in the restaurant and asked if I was *****, I said yes then recognised her as a girl I went to school with 50 years ago! Had a long chat about old times, old friends, old escapades. She still lives in the same town but has lost touch with most of the class as like me they've moved away, but it was a lovely surprise to see her and catch up
4. Left Henley in time to get home before it got too dark. I love driving in the summer but no fun in the cold, dark and usually wet winter evenings
5. Checked my Lottery ticket when I got home and have won £10which has gone into the MoT envelope for next month
Night night, sleep tight

Oh dear, ups and downs yesterday and today.
Bad bits - deciding MrN would follow the pattern of all my exes and suddenly turn nasty. Missing my Grandma who didn't quite live long enough to see my sister finally buy her own house :-( And today, after being on a massive dose of penicillin for a week for my ear and FINISHING the tablets on Saturday night - waking up covered in hives! I look very silly.
Anyway, 5 for yesterday:
1) Going out with my family (minus brother) to a farmer's market.
2) Driving back past sister's new house (contracts not exchanged yet but she's nearly there).
3) Going sloe picking with MrN and some of his children.
4) Making flapjacks.
5) Smaller son finishing all his homework.
6) School friend coming round for tea and a good chat.
7) MrN coming round :-) and deciding he probably won't follow the mad ex pattern after all.0 -
Evening all.
Frith - I hope the hives get gone quickly - nasty things!
beachbaby - cinder toffee and chocolate ice cream? Where do you get such interesting flavours?
Ladyhawk - glad you had a lovely time in Scotland.
My pleasures for today:
1) Porridge with stewed, spiced plums for breakfast.
2) Finally sorted out a long, drawn-out argument with Dairy Crest (i.e. the milkman) over a damaged product, and they've credited the cost of the 'free gift' to my account rather than giving me a replacement product. It's not quite what I wanted, but I'm tired of arguing now, and I guess I'm ahead of the game on balance.
3) Received a box of breakfast cereal to do a product test on: it's a full size pack so, as long as I like it (and it looks promising), that's breakfast sorted for the next couple of weeks.
4) My puddy tat coming for a cuddle. I de-flea'd him as soon as I got in, and it took him a while to forgive me.
5) Spicy sausage casserole for dinner, using half of one of my dad's HG chillis (which are surprisingly mild - I could have done with using the whole thing, I think).
6) Only four days to go til I've got a week off work... :j
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all,
Hope you have had a good day.
CCP - DC are a notorious nightmare - I used to deal with their wholesale side of things and they difficult to say the least!!
Frith - glad you came to the conclusion that MrN is worth it
Sparrer - congrats on the lottery win
Well, my car is back in the garage and they can't find anything wrong as it is obviously an intermittant fault. Grrr!!! I do have a courtesy car though. It meant that I got to work from home today so I got loads done and managed to squeeze in a batch of green tomato chutney and two loads of washing while I was at it. So all in all quite a successful day!
1) Having the flexibility to work from home
2) Speaking to my dad. My mum has to go in for some more tests over the next 10 days.
3) Cuddles with the kitty
4) HM butternut soup for lunch
5) Getting some of the boring household chores done
Nighty night everyone

Good evening all. My five for today,
1. A beautiful drive to work this morning, surrounded by rolling hills.
2. Being a shoulder for someone else to cry on.
3. Still being able to walk properly when I got off the cross trainer at the gym! (but only just).
4. My girlies coming home to a proper home cooked lasagne followed by chocolate cake. Ex's meals leave a lot to be desired.
5. Crunchies and Coronation Street.
Best wishes to all. X0 -
