Hi Everyone,
I am back from France - which was lovely. I managed to avoid the mutant spiders by sleeping in a tent while everyone else was in the spider house, I also avoided the virulent food poisoning (phew!) which half the group managed to get. Dranks cheap red wine, relaxed and enjoyed myself.
So my pleasures for today:
1) My Eurostar home was on time
2) My friend who was looking after Felix came round to feed him and found me home so it was nice to have a chat with her.
3) Felix being happy to see me. He seems so much better but I will still take him back to the vet next week to make sure that it really was an infection and not cancer.
4) NSD
5) The flat was nice and tidy when I got home - the blitz I gave it on Friday morning was worth it.
Night all... snoozy time for me!
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
I never seem to come up with five, but thought I'd contribute a couple. Firstly, being all snuggly under my duvet with my favourite comfy old hoodie on, with a nice cup of tea and a dunky biscuit. It feels indescribably good but I'm sure I don't need to explain just how good it is to any of you
Secondly, found a penny on the way home. Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck!0 -

Mine for today:

2) breakfast in bed
3) cuddles from dd before work
4) listening to more of the mindfullness cd's on the way into work
5) finding school polo shirts for dd this morning, phew that was close as school starts tomorrow
6) taking a walk in the sunshine at lunchtime
7) puddy-tats antics
8) reading this thread"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
rablovesroo - it's really good to hear that you found a lovely job after looking for so long. This gives me hope that my dh will find more work after he's done his new course.
Gingerjar - ((((hugs)))) to you. And good on you for viewing the redundancy as time for a new opportunity.
5 from yesterday:
1) My super cute DS2's 7th birthday. He absolutely LOVED his presents.
2) Driving to a half-way point to see my lovely mum. She's such good company. We're going to the Dales with her in Oct and so we were talking about how much we were looking forward to that.
3) Driving to Sheringham just so we could have a lovely birthday ice cream from Ronaldos - the BEST ice cream in the world.
4) DS2 choosing his dad's signature dish - cheesy spaghetti - as his preferred birthday tea.
5) A return to the good weather.
5 from today:
1) A trip into Norwich so both my DS's could spend their birthday money.
2) Another really lovely sunny day. Has quite clearly cheered everyone up no end!
3) There were giant water balls set up by the forum (huge inflatable balls which float on the water with you inside) which DS2 loves so he had a go on that.
4) DH has got a place on a course which should help with finding another job.
5) Having a chat with a nice old Norfolk boy about local sausagesDFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

Gingerjar - sorry to hear about your redundancy.
Mollythewestie - I quite fancy doing some crochet now!
5 for today. (Wednesday).
1) Went to a big British Heart Foundation shop locally and have ordered a new (ish) sofa! I'm really excited as the 3 of us have been squashing on to our 2 seater for years and it's falling apart. So the new one will arrive on Saturday.
2) Went to Sainsburys and smaller son met someone from his class then bigger son met someone from HIS class. Then we met mum's next door neighbour.
3) Had a mad 2 hours in the afternoon doing laundry, uniforms, PE kit, bags etc then tidied, hoovered and swept the patio and cleared toys and sundry rubbish out of the garden. And we cleaned the car out! Boys are back to school tomorrow.
4) Had a horrible letter from the ex's solicitors saying I have stolen a bike and the police have been to pick the bike up and to question me. I used to get 2-3 letters a week like this in the early days (after I left him) but hadn't had one in a while. I should point out now that I haven't stolen a bike, have never been questioned by the police and have a clean CRB check! Its a pain because I will have to get on to both the police and my solicitor in the morning. It was a pleasure to just give a sigh and to know how to deal with it then have a moan to my sister about it over the phone. He really is a prize prat.
5) MrN appeared once all children were asleep bearing 2 puddings :-)))0 -
Morning all.
Gingerjar - sorry about the redundancy.
My 5 for yesterday:
1) Tried Yogalates DVD last night - it was quite good. I'm worried about my posture as I work from home on the computer so I hope this will help to straighten things out.
2) Gave myself a day off and puttered about.
3) Joined some squares of the blanket I'm making - it's starting to take shape
4) Got a lovely email from my stepmother
5) Had a tasty chicken curry for tea
Have a lovely day.0 -
My five:
1) Dad came home from the hospital yesterday.Yay! Not sure how he is yet, as they have managed to put their phone on mute or something and no one can dial in at the moment!
2) I can really feel the change in weather today. Autumn has arrived. It was misty when I drove to work this morning! All I need now is the smell of bonfires and I shall go into glorious hibernation mode.
3) I woke this morning to a purring cat lying on my feet. A rather pleasant senation!
4) I am alone in the office today and tomorrow, and I can have some peace and quiet. I might actually manage to get through stuff on my to do list, which will make a nice change.
5) Hubby is at a meeting tonight at Church which means I have the place to myself for a bit.I am feeling a bit like a Specky Morse night i think. Nothing better than Morse and a stuff Gin and Tonic!

Hi all
house elf, I have never been to the Goodwood vintage festival, I think this was the first one, I was going to go but then our allotment was having their open day on the Saturday and our members barbecue on the Sunday so I thought it is much more originally vintage to stay, and I was not sorry, as I had a great time on both days. Also, I read somewhere an article about the festival, saying that "you would feel out-of-place wearing combats and sandals, as everybody will be dressed to the nines in vintage clothes" or something on those lines, and that put me right off it!
Gingerjar sorry about your impending redundancy, I hope you find something else soon. You know how they say, when one door closes another seven open, so stay positive if you can (HUGS)!
Crickett I am glad that your dad is out of hospital, hope he recovers soon.
Sparrer, I loved reading your pleasure about the polite little boy, it made me smile, thank you for sharing such a sweet little episode!
I am off to see a friend and will be back later for pleasures. Have a good day everybody xFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Morning all
Not many pleasures going on this morning so here are a few from my last few days!
1. Made a fabulous bread pudding yesterday, never tried it before so thought I'd give it a go...ahhh it was amazing! Used loads of stale bread and bagels hanging around in the freezer, and also added a few drier apricots and chocolate chips. It was amazing, and incredibly cheap!
2. Looking forward to bread pudding for tea tonight
3. Made some really cure crochet armwarmers from some leftover purple yarn, made up the pattern myself but they turned out great
4. Selling some things on ebay, I love it when people bid on my stuff I get so excited!
5. Buying stuff on ebay (oops there goes the profits from selling!). Got another gorgeous 50s style tea dress in a beautiful red flowery pattern which goes nicely with my new patent dolly shoes from charity shop. Does anyone else love getting dressed and thinking 'this entire outfit cost me less than £10'0 -
Nothing of great importance OS wise today but have been sitting looking out of the window at the river that I can see, and probably have spent too much time just looking instead of doing more important things like cleaning ,cooking ect.but now and again its nice to just do absoluteoly nothing for half an hour.
Took the boys to school and got a tiny nervous wave from the youngest (6) as he has moved up to year two and has to go via a different entrance now("he's a big boy and not a baby anymore")said his very unsympathetic brother, forgetting its not that long since he became a big boy.
Sun is still shining nicely so I may forgo any more idleness and do some housework ,on the other hand, I think a walk to our local park sounds a better idea as I want to make the most of the late summer sunshine.
I must get a bit more motivated ,but the sunshine is winning i think so I'm off to fill a bottle with some juice and will have a walk to the parkk.B***er the housework it will still be there when its cold and rainy.
Have a nice day everyone:):)
