Good to see you on this thread, JackieO! As soon as I am back from holidays I shall organise another outing in Lewisham so watch this space!
Here I am with some pleasures for today:
1 - My friend is back from Brazil (her country of origin) and it was good to see her after almost a month and before I go away.
2 - Walk with my friend (as per n.1) with tea and cakes at the Blackheath Reminiscence Centre
3 - Lunch of a mix of two leftover soups, this is the fourth incarnation and now they have all gone - and it was delicious, too!
4 - DD just gave me a little present that a friend of hers brought for me from Bulgaria, that is really kind and thoughtful of her!
5 - I found a few good books at the Cat Protection League charity shop to take away with me (and to leave here and there for the pleasure of other travelers when I have finished them).
Have a good evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Mine for today:
1) reaching the halfway stage on Wii Active 6 week challenge

Hi People!
What a day. I spent the day "preparing" for a presentation tomorrow for a very exciting, very high profile and very important new potential client. I sa "preparing" but really spent the time kicking my heels. Got loads of free veggies from it though!
1) NSD
2) tried loads of different veggies that I hadn't triedbefore - salsify, cobnuts, wild wood sorrell, red watercress and I brought home some edible seaweed to see what I can do with it.
3) Randomly spoke to my mum. She called me on my mobile from her work landline - I naturally got worried and called her back but she had just used my number to check if they were able to dial international calls from work! Silly woman!! she could have warned me!
4) Spoke to two of my brothers on the phone and arranged to have dinner with the eldest one tomorrow night.
5) Met Matt Dawson who seemed really nice.
Anyway need to go and make something of the goodies I managed to bring home and get some sleep since I need to get up at 5am tomorrow.
Night night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all.
Ladyhawk - it sounds like you've got an intriguing haul of veggies there. I've never even heard of red watercress, so I'll be intrigued to know what you do with it, just in case I ever come across some.
JackieO - good for you for deciding on the walk in the park option - it sounds like a much better plan to me!
crickett - glad to hear your dad's home, and hope he's enjoying being back. I also hope they've sorted the phone out by now so you can find out!
Frith - I'm sorry to hear your ex is playing silly you-know-whats again. Good for you for rising above it.
My five for today:
1) It's been a lovely sunny day.
2) My manager paid me a lovely compliment at work - it wasn't so much what she said as how she said it, like it's something everyone knows and can't argue with. Very flattering!
3) Picked yet more HG toms for my ever-growing tomato mountain. :j:D
4) Lovely dinner of aubergines from my dad's garden in a bacon and tomato sauce - very nom if I do say so myself.
5) Found that my veg box company has my favourite mozzarella on special offer - more nom!
Have a lovely evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -

Evening all, Hi to all new and old posters and huggs to all
I'm back in the land of OS and trying to enjoying life in the world outside hospital. Can't even try to catch up after a four week stay with two nasty bugs, so here's a fresh start with an assortment of pleasures from the last week or two.
1 got let out on Monday after a month in hospital:T.
2 Most staff in hospital lovely- special kitchen staff who understand low ~GI and frequent/long term patients. Fantastic technitians who can put a canula in cream crackered veins.
3 Teaching a junior dr a lesson - she believed the blood reports which said no infection over the sputum samples and me knowing my body. Hopefuly she and her othe dr partner have learned a lesson.
4 Made friends with another log term patient who has slightly different lung probs, but the same stuborn outlook on life.
5 Eldest actually cleaned and cleared out his bedroom for the first time in many years (he's 25)
6 several lovely days of sun
7 managed to get out of the house every day since Monday.
8 Mobility aids getting sorted, everyone on occupational therapy is so helpfull
9 Grab and run bag all washed dried and replenished.
10 All shopping done, and extra goodies sorted for next hospital stay
11 found a lot of new "free from" goods in our re-vamping Tesco that will help said long term asthmatic and allergie friend
12 although not fully fit I'm enjoying life outside hospital
there are more, but can't type any more

Morning
Wogglemaker - Glad to hear you are home from hospital and enjoying life back at home.
Pleasures for the last couple of days haven't been particulary MSE but still very nice.
1. Spending time together as a family (something we don't do often enough).
2. Cinema for orange wednesday and eat as much as you like buffet dinner. All really enjoyed this treat
3. Day out yesterday to London Dungeon - We screamed and laughed our way round, felt sorry for anyone near us as we squealed quite loudly:eek:
4. Late lunch in GBK (did use a voucher though):money:
5. DD went back to guides last night, this is her last term in guides:eek: as will be 15 in October. She was very mature in sorting out a problem with a fellow guide who had not been very nice to her during the holidays.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
I didn't do my 5 yesterday (Thursday) so will try and do them now.
1) Boys went back to school OK. They had a little fight at lunchtime. Smaller son has spent 6 weeks playing with bigger son but of course bigger son wants time alone with his friends now and smaller son wouldn't leave him alone!
2) Spoke to the SENCo yesterday and was able to tell her smaller son had gone to school without the usual hysterics. He said he answered the register which is good going for him, especially with a new teacher.
3) I worked at school all day yesterday as well and that went well.
4) Made a tasty pasta tea (sadly not appreciated as it had COURGETTE in it, shock horror) and I have a bowl left to heat up for lunch today.
5) MrN called round. :-)0 -
wogglemaker - glad to hear your out of hospital and on the mend at home. x
tealady - well done to your DD handling the problem with another guide. Hopefully she feels better now she's tackled it.
Here are mine for yesterday:
1) Met up with some friends who were staying in a caravan down the coast and had a lovely BBQ and chat while our children all played nicely (but muddily and wetly together).
2) Driving down the coast road - beautiful. Makes us all glad to be living in such a gorgeous part of the world.
3) Someone had set up a home-made fudge stall by the side of the road. Stopped by for a bag on the way home. Naughty but very nice.
4) Packing up DS1's kit bag for his Scouts 'kip on a ship' trip. It always makes us feel much closer when one of us is away for the night!
5) I think someone else said this earlier in the thread, but the feeling of impending season change. I love the feeling you get at the start of each new season. Even if it would be nice to still get some warm and fine days in before it gets colder!
Hope everyone has a great day!DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

wogglemaker - glad to see you posting again, I was wondering how you were.
My 5 pleasures for yesterday:
- Seeing my new nephew for the first time, he is gorgeous and so small - it made me very broody
- The decluttering we have been doing is paying off and house looks much tidier.
- Vouchers in the post for nappies and wipes and 4 x £4 off £20 spend at Sainsburys.
- Saving a little on electric bill: our lamp has broken, but we have to move some big furniture to unplug it and plug in our other lamp, so we have been sitting in the dark (bar 2 candles) on an evening! Very OS, but haven't been able to cross stitch or read by so little light.
- Started thinking about christmas (sorry!) and have a few ideas for presents. I have started a list of what I need to get and I will be on the look out for good offers.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
