Tired and befuddled! Here are my 5:

    1) Taking bigger son to a drama class. He LOVED playing some of the roles in a bit of A Midsummer Night's Dream but the rest of the group were all girls (about 10 of them). They got the class dancing as pixies and singing "I'm So Pretty..." which he loathed so much he decided he doesn't want to go again. :-( Lovely to watch him on stage for a minute at the end, though.

    2) Went to the park with smaller son while bigger son was at the class. Good weather, ran about a bit and I took my juggling balls for a some practise.

    3) Went to nearest town in the afternoon, to the library, 2nd hand shop and little sweet shop then stood by the river and threw bread for the seagulls. Always good if they take it "on the wing", you can pretend you are training a hawk!

    4) Went to mum and dad's for tea. I haven't slept properly for ages and was nearly falling asleep in my tea there. Mum got my dad to take the boys with him when he went to get some corn from another farmer and they had a good time and got to ride in the combine when the farmer put it away. I knew nothing of this because I had fallen asleep on mum and dad's sofa, only waking up to find my blue T shirt had become a black, mohair T shirt as I had nodded off on the "dogs end" of the sofa!

    5) Neighbour came round for a cup of tea (must think of a new name for him on here) and that all went quite well. So far as I can tell, not being very well practised in such things. :-)

Evening all - hope you're all well.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts about my grandmother going into a nursing home. It's definitely the best thing for her, and I'm sure she'll enjoy it when she gets there, but it's so difficult when she's convinced herself she's going to hate it. :( I just keep telling myself how good it's going to be when she finds out that, actually, it's OK! ;)

Anyway, pleasures for the last couple of days:

    Yesterday:
    1) Got a bit of a lie-in in the morning.
    2) My grandmother was feeling OK enough to point out to me the nice-looking man visiting the lady in the bed opposite. :rotfl:
    3) Rescued the apples from the tree in my grandmother's garden. There were only a bout a dozen on there, but it's better than them going to waste. (They're nice apples, too - Cox's, I think.)
    4) Saw my sister's new car - I'm actually rather jealous, as it's considerably nicer than mine. :o
    5) Had time for a quick drink with my dad before he got his ferry home - and the pub we went into was selling locally-made cider for me, and locally-brewed beer for my dad. Happy bunnies both! :D

    Today:
    1) HM bread and HM jam for breakfast. :)
    2) Received my new mobile phone - the delivery man made a special trip back at the end of his shift to see if I'd got in from work, so I didn't have to spend another day without a phone. What a nice man! :T
    3) Received my freebie recycled bag, which I'd forgotten I'd ordered. It's very nice, too - perfect for taking my lunch and fruit to work with me.
    4) Loads of tomatoes are starting to change colour - looks like I won't end up with tons of green ones at the end of the summer after all.
    5) HM ready meal for dinner tonight, to make up for the takeaway I ended up having last night. (It was late and I hadn't eaten since breakfast. :o And I paid for it with chronic stomach ache today! :()
    *************************

GirlySquare - I hope your Gradma likes her posh new home. :)

sparrer - I hope your poor hound's much better by now, and that you get a good night's sleep after all this worrying about him.

Tealady - you're probably long gone by now, but I hope the weekend turns out OK, and the funeral goes off well.

Ladyhawk - well done for summoning up the courage to mention your idea, and I'm glad they liked it. :)

    Have a pleasant evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all!

Hope you are all just dandy this evening.

    1) Popped into MrA near work to pick up some whoopies this evening which I had spotted at lunch time when they hadn't been quite whoopsied enough! Sadly they had all gone by then and I had paid £2 in parking and I only needed bicarb and wanted to claim the £2 back against it(48p)... so I spent 30min trying to find something that added up to exactly £1.52! Yes it's sad but I refused to pay a penny more! I need to get out more.

    2) Got a copy of a trade mag this morning which I have my photo in.

    3) It's Thursday night... phew... nearly the weekend!

    4) Got rid (hopefully) of a electric steamer on freecycle. I had 5 responses, only one of which was polite!

    5) Popped into the MrA near home as well and picked up some whoopsied raspberries which were down from £1.79. Two of them were £1.11 and the other one was 65p. So I asked them to reduce them all to 65p. Cheeky I know! So I will be makingraspberry jam this evening.

    Night night

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Frith I've been following your 'meetings' with your neighbour with interest, and look forward to hearing what new name you'll give him for 5OS purposes :D
GirlySquare I loved that poster, sent the link to my DD who has 3 teens of her own now and rapidly learning what it means :p
CCP it's a very daunting thing for older people to feel they're 'being put in a home' but in a couple of weeks she'll have forgotten all her doubts and will be enjoying the company and being waited on (and will probably deny she ever had any doubts!). Having worked with older people for 30 + years I can only recall perhaps one who didn't change their mind, and that one wasn't going to like Buckingham palace as a home!
Ladyhawk pleased you got some Mr A bargains in the end. Raspberries are my favourite fruit so I'm green :D
savingforoz how exciting, booking your ticket. Well done for getting through so much work, my mind wouldn't be on anything but the trip :o
duckeggblue was it a Yorkshire or barm brack? Haven't made barm brack for ages so thanks for jogging my memory. Sounds like you're having a good time with all that cooking :)
inkie well done on your freezer finds, always good when that happens
    my 5
    1. My little dog is home :T. Not 100% but just needs to be built up again. If need be I have advice/support from DD who breeds/shows German Spitz, but he's settled back down quickly and managed a couple of spoonsful of duck and rice. Hope he doesn't have to be on it too long, it's £2.60 a tin from the vet
    2. Lovely warm, sunny day until watering time when there was a good downpour. Made life easy as I'm looking after next door's garden this week too :)
    3. Made a big bowl of pasta in the mw and a wok full of tomatoey topping, enough for 6 meals for the freezer
    4. Postie brought me a sample of cereal, a full sized box which I'll enjoy all the more as it was free :D
    5. Seeing the new BT Jane and Adam ad, how sad am I? :rotfl:

    Night night, sweet dreams

I'm starting to feel a bit better again so here's my five for today:

    1. Another £6 added into my £1 a day sealed pot so I'm up-to-date again.

    2. I haven't been using my Tesco vouchers so I've just converted them into enough deals vouchers to use on a couple of meals out. They've been tucked away into my newly started 'emergencies' file since they're valid for the next six months and it's really nice to know they're there!

    3. DS1 turned up this evening with a freezer box full of fresh plums from his gf's parents' plum tree - very welcome.

    4. Simple supper of huge dippy eggs and HM soup with tiger bread.

    5. Making time to sit and read the paper.

    Sleep well everyone
