5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

1) Made corn muffins this morning and had them on the table when a friend called for coffee.
2) Went to the allotment and in spite of the feeling that this has been a difficult year, came away with a variety of veg that will certainly last the weekend, even with guests. Have frozen some French beans and broad beans.
3) Evening meal consisted of meatloaf (again, but if they will keep yellow-stickering the mince packs) and home grown veg. We also finished some ice-cream, which freed up a bit of space in the freezer and gave me another plastic tub for lunches etc.
4) Made blackberry vodka and pickled some beetroot. The blackberries were picked by DS's gf, bless her.
5) Went out for one drink with some friends. We don't see him very often and they were at a local restaurant this evening, so they picked us up when they had finished.0 -
So sorry to read your sad news, CCP. I will be thinking of you and your family.
Here are my 5 for today (Friday):
1) We went to the Kids Club at the cinema this morning - only £1 each. Got caught in a thunderstorm on the way back to the car but I do love a bit of lightning.
2) Went to Sainsburys so feel a bit more organised.
3) Went swimming with my brother and sons.
4) Had a phone call from my sister who is at the Levellers Festival in Devon (can't remember the name of it now).
5) The boys got their entries ready for the village show tomorrow. Bigger son has done a piece of art work and they are both entering the handwriting classes and the cornflake cake classes (these are ones just for children). I used to take part in the same show when I was little! Bigger son said "I do love it when we do things like this as a family" :-) (Not that we usually spend our time apart sitting in different rooms!)
6) MrN came round. :-)0 -
Its been busy here so haven't posted for a few days
1. DS1's A level results weren't quite enough but he has got into a uni he wanted to go to and doing a very similar subject to what he wanted to. After a stressful Thursday we were all delighted in the evening.
2. Making more blackberry jam. It doesn't last too long in this house.
3. A couple of NSD's this week.
4. Eating lots of homegrown runner beans.
5. The house being all clean and tidy.
6. Going on holiday later today. Can't wait.
Hugs to all those that need them especially CCP.0 -
Sparrer, the crab apple and chilli jelly is lovely to eat with pork sausages, or pork chops, pork pies and any other rich meat, like pheasant or guinea fowl.
Felines are my favourite

5.Cuddling the cats."The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
I don't know if I'll make five, but I've had a few:
1. Arriving at the bus stop just a few seconds before my bus did.
2. Being more productive today than I'd bargained for, which means good feelings of jobs being done.
3. Nice cup of tea and a sit down, with a couple of biccies to boot. Even more pleasurable as the tea is from a free sample teabag and the biccies are some of my favourite yummy branded ones that I got cheap in the pound shop.
And it's not all that OS in the traditional sense, but it counts because my grandmothers would agree it's a pleasure - getting my hair "done", so it's all lovely now. Won't last forever but I'm enjoying it while it does.0 -

Edited to say, I forgot....
Got a whoopsied pizza base in Sainsburys, 12 inch one with tomato and cheese on it.
Added 6 slices of torn up salalmi, thinly sliced fresh tomato, dried oregano, torn fresh basil and about 8 Basics mozarello pearls and 6 halved black olives.
Ten minutes in a hot oven and my God, it was to die for.
Got 8 huge slices for about £3. how much would that have cost in a pizza place?
And OH and I, REALLY enjoyed it.
Got half leftover in foil in the fridge, it was that filling..Felines are my favourite
