savingforoz and marmiterules their piccies aren't on the cats home website so dp has promised to get a piccie tomorrow, then I'll figure out how to make it my avatar. They're from the same litter, both boys, 5 months old, both black dsh and both litter trained. Currently chasing eachother around the house, hopefully they'll flake out soon. They're so alike that we've had to put collars on them to tell them apart

ARGH!!!!!!!!! was just on my last pleasure when I managed to lose my post!! GRRR....
Suffice to say I have had a lovely day... very chilled.
Thanks Marmite for the recipes... I hae put them in my to do file.
1) Long walk round the farm near my flat
2) Picked some blackberries
3) Picked up myfirst Christmas present for my brother - a gorgeous wicker basket which will be filled with home made goodies. A bargain for only £5.50!
4) Went to my first ever car boot whic I stumbled on by accident... lots of tat!
5) Chatted to my mum on the phone
6) Roast lamb with all the trimmings for supper. I decided to treat myself.
Fee is still unwell and I think we will be going back to the vet tomorrow
Night nigh - have a great week

My 5... over a few days...
1) I spoke to my Dad on the phone, he is hospital at the moment recovering from encephalitis. He remembered my nickname, and we had a great conversation, which is great because he was away with the fairies for most of last week.
2) had a long facebook chat with my Aunt, who is also my godmother.
3) started cross stitching and embroidering Mum and Dad's Christmas present (a little cloth for the centre of the table with roses and forget me nots on it) I have re-discovered my joy at stitching. I love it so much. I love it most of all out of all my hobbies and crafts that I do.
4) buying new clothes airers which have provided hubby and I enough space to hang ALL our washing inside. We might actually be able to conquer Mount Washmore!
5) Watching my kitten hunt moths. He is hilarious!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes. Sadly the outcome will be inevitable and I hope sooner rather than later (sorry to anyone who thinks that harsh but Alzheimers and cancer are pretty cruel too)
Frith congrats to your sons for their successes at the village show :T
savingforoz well done on the gardening, you got done just before the forecast storms
Lola the home grown potatoes sound really yummy
GirlySquare so pleased you adopted the kittens from a responsible org., will look forward to seeing the avatar when you can
marmite the carrot and courgette cake sounds amazing, and spread with apple butter...I'm going to spend some time in the kitchen tomorrow!:D
Patchwork F n C is surely OS, no prep, fuel to cook or hot water to wash up...;)
Ladyhawk the prob with car boots is that if you find something you want at a bargain price it can become addictive. I have to limit myself to a couple a year. Hope little mog is okay, everything x'd here
crickett hope your Dad continues to improve. We seem to be a forum of cat lovers
my 5 -
1. Singing our song during our phone call, 'Dancing on Clouds' which we wrote together. DF tried a few wordsand his nurse said he smiled and nodded when he recognised the tune
2. Lovely sunny morning, mowed as much of the lawn as I could before the mower broke down.
3. Met up with some friends for lunch, we all had lots of funny tales to tell about our various holidays
4. Whoopsied everything for tea, baking potato, coleslaw, tomato, mushrooms and a little tub of lemon mousse
5. The rain this evening, just in time to save me watering.
Night night, sweet dreams

Evening all
Girlysquare - I don't have a link, it was in an e-mail. The Roosevelts were pretty good on quotes, I think ('A woman is like a tea-bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water' by Eleanor Roosevelt is another one I like)
Marmite - does the apple butter come out like bought 'Apple and Pear Spread'? Do you think it would work with eating apples but no added sugar rather than Bramleys? I really like the sound of it and have surplus eaters at the moment.
My five for Sunday:
1. Getting some sewing done. I like the quietness of handsewing.
2. Yet more time spent writing. Hope I'm not tempting fate, but I think I'm on a roll.
3. Visiting the countrypark I discovered yesterday with DS2. We had a little wander round and there were quite a lot of blackberries and elderberries as well as teasles. I'm thinking that I might collect some teasles and grasses to dry to add to this year's Xmas wreath for our front door when the time comes. We'll be back for a proper forage later in the week.
4. More huge dippy eggs and HM soup for a quick supper.
5. Getting the car cleared out of rubbish - a job I'd been putting off. It's going in for its MOT and service tomorrow. (Keeping everything crossed.)
Sweet dreams
B x0 -
Sorry to hear your Dad has been poorly, Crickett but glad to hear he is progressing well.
5 for today (Sunday).
1) Getting up to date with the housework.
2) Going to see a friend of mine from college. She had never met my sons before and was very good with them, especially with smaller son who is not happy when meeting new people. Nice to have a cup of tea there.
3) Went to feed my sister's cat and he was fine.
4) My school friend came over and we went out and bought a take away Chinese (too many miles away for delivery for anything like that). We then parked on a common near the Clee Hills and ate it - took plates and cutlery with us! Lovely sunset and didn't have the promised rain until about midnight.
5) Mr N came over later and hasn't long gone. All OK there although its hard for me to know as I've been from one really rubbishy relationship to another since I was 19. (That sounds like I've had LOADS of relationships! I've had 3 but all equally poor). I can't believe how lovely this is and how... straightforward. :-)0 -
Morning
thank you to everyone for your kind wishes for last week.
CCP - So sorry to hear the sad news, thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sparrer - Sorry to hear about your friend but lovely you can still make him smile.
Girlysquare - I loved the teenager quote and it is now on the kitchen notice board
Rainywednesday and Caterina - Thank you for the gnocchi recipes, I am going to try to make it later this week.
Some pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Meeting lots of cousins that I don't really know. Last time I saw them was 20 years ago and not sure before that.
2. One of my cousins has being doing the family tree and had lots of interesting information to tell including the fact that my grandma had another child. The sad bit was that he died at 2 months old, we think he may have been premature from what we can piece together.
3. Getting to spend some time with mum and dad just chilling and catching up
4. Hearing about nephews wedding from cousin and that it all went well. Looking forward to seeing the photos
5. Walks and lots of cuddles off mum and dads dog.
hugs to all who need them0 -
Monday morning 5... (this is SUCH a good thread because it keeps my outlook to the positive - and as a non-practising optimist, this is definitely something I need to do!)
1) The glimmer of sunshine I can see through the heavy dark rain clouds. It looks radiant and made me smile
2) I have just had a really healthy breakfast at my desk at work (I get in early, so I can leave early) and I bought it all in from home, so haven't needed to spend twice to get breakfast once!
3) I have some energy for the first time in ages. Feel like I could actually get on with work and be productive. It has been a long time since I felt like that.
4) Going to get going with my house routine again this week. Need to keep it looking smart and tidy. I am going to rock Flylady this week. I hope.
5) My kitten was doing circuits of the house this morning at 2am because he was disturbed by the rain hammering on the windows. I called softly to him and he clambered into bed with me and we had cuddles and purrs until we both drifted off back to sleep."A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and wishes. Sadly the outcome will be inevitable and I hope sooner rather than later (sorry to anyone who thinks that harsh but Alzheimers and cancer are pretty cruel too)
Not at all. It is far more harsh to keep someone suffering because you can't bear to let them go. I am so sorry that he has been struck down by such relentless and cruel manner.
Frith - am really pleased that you have managed to turn your man-luck around. I hope it works out for you and that he truly is the man of your dreams (if it comes to that!)Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Monday morning again, where does the time go.
I'm new to this thread. I used to write my 10 daily blessings after reading Simple Abundance years back, but have got out of the habit.
Today:
A whole day to myself to look forward to.
A bowl of porridge eaten while listening to the rain fall
Knowing that however much rain we have today, i will still have food and shelter at the end of the day
Seeing my home take shape and become decluttered (thanks to Flylady)
Being confident that things will work out as I can keep on track and be orgainsed.0
