Mindfulness is really useful as a way to avoid relapses into depression, I attended a course at a Buddhist centre, it lasted 8 weeks but I could not attend all of them, but even a few sessions really helped me. If you are interested, check if you have a Buddhist centre nearby who offers this sort of course, you don't have to be a Buddhist or even want to become one - the one I went just offered the mindfulness thing with no other item attached. Best wishes!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
  • Thanks v. much Caterina, I'll see if there are any Buddhist centres locally.

    Evening all,

Just got in from work... such a busy day. Looks like I am heading back into the madness of long hours and high stress. Not helped by peopl setting rediculous deadlines to try to show the boss that they are driving the team forward.

    1) My news from today is that my oldest brother got engaged yesterday. He and his girlfriend have been together 10 years so it's about time. Not too sure that my parents will be that pleased by it but they don't even live in the same country so it doesn't matter. She is a lovely girl but is just not particularly ambitious and never challenges my brother but it works for them and they are happy. I was particularly pleased that I was the first person he told - probably because he knew he would get the most positive response from me.

    2) Something that I never thought would be a pleasure. I watched Felix wee this morning and there was no blood and copious amount of it... maybe the antibiotics are working? Don't want to get my hopes up too much though.

    3) My webinar conference call went really well this morning. I am training about 300 of our managers over the next few weeks for a project that I am working on. I did the first one on Monday and I wasn't particularly happy about how it went. So it was a relief that this one was good.

    4) Went into town with the boss's PA at lunch to get my brother's engagement card. It was nice to escape for a few minutes.

    I am struggling to find a 5th....

I'll have a think about it...

    Night all.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    Evening

CCP- Thanks for the link for the hot water bottle going to order one in a minute as I don't mind fluffy at all

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Laptop has been playing up so kind person at work fixed it for me. Working in IS has its advantages:T. All it cost me was a flake.
    2. Lovely friend at work brought in a bag of potatoes and veg including some horseradish (going to try making some hm horseradish sauce) for me from her other job where they have a small holding and had some excess veg
    3. From number 2 made some courgette and lentil soup for lunch tomorrow. Was a bit tasteless at first so now curried courgette and lentil soup to add a bit of flavour.
    4. Lovely dinner of sweet chilli chicken and rice using storecupboard ingredients. Everyone really enjoyed and lots of positive comments.
    5. Hearing that my friends DD has got into the university of her choice, she wan't sure if she was going to get in but all confirmed today. She really needed some positive news after recent events so this is great.
    6. Another friend finding out she is going to be a grandmother next year. I have a baby blanket half made so a good reason to get it finished.

Hugs to all who need them

A late quickie tonight as I fell asleep and have just woken up :o
    1. The cob nut tree overhanging my garden is beginning to drop its fruit. Last year my neighbour and I had over 1 1/2 lb each (with permission from the orchard owner of course) this year it looks even more prolific :D
    2. The same orchard has a huge pear tree which overhangs my neighbour's garden. The orchard owner has given us permission to help ourselves :T
    3. Postie brought me a hand wash to trial. A really nice smell but as runny as water, but it's free so I'm not complaining ;)
    4. Went to meet friends this evening, someone offered to take home the ladies I usually do so that saved me a tablespoon of petrol :)
    5. My little mutt has finally been weaned of the expensive - £2.60 a tin - vet food onto a similar thing from the farm shop at 55p a tin :D
    6. DF and I managed a little conversation during the 1p phone call :)

    Night night, sleep tight

    5 for yesterday (Wednesday)

    1) Went to a local soft play place for the boys. Got to read quite a lot of my book then bumped into a college friend, there with her sons.

    2) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    3) Opened the post... Passed my counselling college course! Opened the 2nd envelope and the Financial Ombudsman have managed to knock £3200 of charges off a debt my ex husband ran up years ago. :-) Which brings my total debt down to something almost manageable.

    4) Played Murder in the Dark with my sons.

    5) MrN called round. Although I was so highly strung, tetchy and knackered by that time (quite late) that I don't think talking to me could have been much of a pleasure. :-(

Anyway, I am going ice skating today which is something I used to really love. Haven't been for years (12 years, perhaps) and the boys have never been at all....
