    Evening everyone..

what a busy day! Left home at 6.30am and only got back at 10pm and sadly I was working most of the time :(

    1) Went to see an apple grower this morning and we ate some apples straight off the tree which was yummy! We tried Worcester; Discovery; Braeburn and Royal Galas.

    2) Cous cous salad, nice iced bun and lemonade from M&S for lunch which will go on expenses.

    3) Ummm... got some knitting done on the train and completed one square, and nearly finished another one.

Starting to struggle now... I can't think of the last two pleasures this evening...

I know... I'M ON HOLIDAY TOMORROW!!! Yippee!

On that note - nighty night.

    Sleep tight.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    5 for today.

    1) Getting a letter from HSBC so its really official now that £3200 is being knocked off my debt with them. :-)

    2) Going ice skating, my favourite sport in the world. I fell over bigger son (I was towing them round as they had never been before). I hadn't fallen over in YEARS (I'm actually not bad at skating) but because I didn't want to catch him with my skates, I had to do a massive dive and I landed on my jaw. I suppose a pleasure is that I'm not nursing worse injuries. You know its bad when you can't see straight for a second and everyone rushes to the side, sucking their breath in! I have a big chin on the one side, a graze and its going black and blue. I also fell on one knee which hurts and, I didn't notice at the time, some part of son or one of his skates must have clouted me in the thigh on the other side because that is spectacular too.

    3) Having tea cooked for me (MrN).

    4) A nice chat on the phone with my school friend.

Well, that's only 4 which is a shame because it hasn't been a bad day.

Still a bit worried about the MrN situation. I should say in his defence that I am a worrier, have had depression etc and am very tired/worn out by the endless school holidays where I stupidly didn't organise even an hour of babysitting for the boys... On the FACE of things, it is all going spendidly. So I worry instead about things that might possibly be happening which are under the surface or I will just be doing the washing up (for example) then think "Oh, I am just here at his convenience/til his wife decides to come back/til he finds someone more interesting". If the whole thing was out in the open, I think I would feel better. I devised a bit of a plan which is I will wait 2-3 weeks and if its still a secretive thing with lots of very late night meetings, then I will say that I don't actually think I want to be kept a secret and see what happens then.

    Hmmm.

    Evening everyone.

    1. It's been a pleasure reading everyone's posts after a very up and down couple of days. Thank you. Pleasures shared are pleasures doubled - and they put me back on track.

    2. Having a cup of proper coffee at a friend's house - first real coffee I've had in ages.

    3. Got the new car tax sorted ahead of time (for a change:D). No last minute panic is definitely a pleasure.

    4. Having to drive miles and miles today for different things but I did it, and safely, and at my most economical speed (car tells me what mpg I'm doing which helps).

    5. Sorting through loads of paperwork which turned up some very useful vouchers and two cheques that need paying in which I thought I'd lost but obviously haven't!

    Sweet dreams

    1. Emptied every moneybox shoebox I could lay my hands on, and counted all the 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and 20p into moneybags, and came to the grand total of (drumroll, please...) £66:j
This shall be paid into my bank account tomorrow to keep me within my overdraught, as a Direct Debit is going out tomorrow, and I don't get paid until Tuesday

    2. Baked a banana bran loaf and it tasted gorgeous warm out the oven with butter on.

    3. My bestest friend came round to see my new puppy today, bringing her twin boys. Always great to see old friends.

    4. Managed to get my lazy 15 yr old off the sofa and into the shower in reasonable time today. (supprising how easily pleased I am, lol)

    5. Took DS2 and DS3 to cinema this evening to see Toy Story 3D. I have prepaid Odeon tickets which I buy in bulk through a discount club at work, and use in the holidays on rainy days. However could not use my tickets on 3D films, so did not get to see Toy Story, but instead saw a new 2D film called 'Grown Ups'.:j Very funny, feel-good family film. My sons, ages 11 and 15 were both laughing out loud. :rotfl:I said to them it was a good job we weren't allowed to see the 3D film, which would have cost the 3 of us £26.35 to get in, else we would have missed a real treat. Recommended. :T
We all came home with smiles on our faces, in spite of the rain. Saw my DS1 in there with a friend queuing to see Pirana 3D, but he has more money than me, lol:rotfl:
    keep smiling,

  • My OS Pleasures for today (thus far)

    1. There is a strange disk in the sky... can't think of the name... oh yes... the SUN!!! :)

    2. Its FRIDAY and of a bank holiday weekend too. Wooo hoooo!

    3. I am cooking Steak, Chips and Salad for tea tonight, and shall attempt to make a hollandaise sauce as well. Hubby is being a brave DIYer tonight, trying to fix our shower, so I thought it only fair to try and cook a nice meal for him. :)

    4. The roads as I drove to work this morning were so free of traffic... it was truly a joy! (and a blessing too - cos I was running a bit late!)

    Not bad for 8.56am! :)

  • Thank you all for the best wishes and hugs.

    My 5 pleasures for yesterday:
    - Sister had her bouncing baby boy at 9:15pm, mother and baby doing well, it was an easy birth with just gas and air (A braver woman than me!) :j
    - Getting a lift to the Dr's so I only had to walk back.
    - Bargain books in the charity shop, and they were BOGOF too! Although the book I saw the other day, A Marcus Wareing recipe book that was brand new, had been snapped up already :(.
    - Ordering some bits and pieces in the M&S sale.
    - Sitting down to finish watching season 4 of The Wire on DVD with DH and a cup of hot chocolate, I love that programme :D and can't wait to get stuck into season 5.

Today has already been a very good day, so here are todays 5:
    - Losing a further 1lb, making 16lbs weight loss for the year so far.
    - More BOGOF books in the charity shop :o. My best find was a brand new cross stitch book that has 500 charted designs in, (its this one). It has some lovely sampler designs and lots of alphabets that I want to try, It was just £1.95 and I got a free trashy paperback too!
    - 2lbs of Plums and 2lbs of stawberries for £4 for jam making (both from local producers too)
    - Borrowing lots of books at the library to last us through the bank holiday - DH will read a book a day.
    - Blue skies at long last :)
    Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

    Hello Peeps,

    Mark II

Don't you just hate it when a post disappears into the ether for no reason! Anyway.......missed alot this week as DS2 has been doing a water activities week in Redditch. I have been ferrying him there and then sitting in Mcd's doing school work until it's time to pick him up. The theory being this will save fuel and force me to do some work :rotfl:

    Anyway this weeks pleasures......

    1. DS2 chatting about is adventures every afternoon on our journey home. He has enjoyed it lots :)
    2. Camping at Clent on Tues night, including.......the scenery, the quiet, no rain, DH visiting us with fish and chips, still being able to move next morning! DS2 loved it!
    3. Selling lots on EBay which has paid for a new printer cartridge and a new water pump. The celler has filled with water and the pump packed up  (Can't decide wether to claim on the insurance or not, as the premiums will rise. However, the freezer has shorted out and we have lost lots of tools etc. This is not weather related, but the water company refuses to take any responsibility:mad:)
    4. Feeling very relieved that we were able to rescue alot of stuff from the flood, and it has given us the impetus to de clutter:rotfl:(Hows that for looking on the bright side?).
    5. DD going to Reading Festival. (So growed up!) She has borrowed my Kath Kidston festival wellies. Knew they would come in useful!
    6. Seeing a free preview of the Switch on Monday. Loved it! Made a nice change from watching kids films with DS2. It had a story and made me smile. A real feelgood film. And, I took my BF.
    7. Listening to the Woman's Hour serial every day this week.

There have been more than 7, but I really do need to do some school work now, and I am about to run out of parking time at this McD's, so will head on down to the other one for more free WiFi:D

Have a lovely day. I feel much cheerier now I have visited here. Thanks.:A HE x

    Hi all,

Thanks for the good wishes for my holiday, it is not until 4th September so I shall pop in a few more times before then, I expect.

I see that I am not the only one to find the thinking OS woman's crumpet (Mark Boyle) delectable! I finished is book and it was really interesting - but I kept turning it to look at the man's picture on the back cover - unbelievable that he found himself single for quite a time, considering his looks! But I suppose not many women are willing to go to those lengths to be earth-friendly or frugal. I know that I would find it difficult to live entirely without the quick comforts that money brings. Still, there is a lot to be learnt from his experience, the book is very positive and inspiring, a recommended read IMHO.

    Here are some pleasures:

1 - I have just finished work for today (more to do but not until Tuesday).

2 - Nice breakfast with DS, yellow-stickered organic mushrooms with egg on toast and tea.

3 - Our cat Ziggy seems a bit better, we took him for a supervised visit of the garden as he is obviously craving the outdoors and fed up of being locked in the kitchen and scullery. Tomorrow he has a check up visit and hopefully they will take the drain out of his wound and he can go outside unsupervised.

4 - Bank holiday weekend, looking forward to some time with DH and work in the allotment, weather permitting.

5 - Just managed to fix our front door lock with some WD40 (instead of going and buying a new drum as DH had suggested). It was sticking but now it works perfectly again.

I might not be online for the duration of the weekend, to have a few No-PC days so I am wishing everybody a great weekend and see you back on Tuesday hopefully.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Evening all.

I'm struggling a bit to think of pleasures for today. It hasn't been a particularly bad day (although I could have done without the embarassment of going to the cash point and finding I didn't have any money left to take out :o) - there just haven't been that many pleasures. Let's think...

    1) Found a £2 coin on a zebra crossing, and a £1 coin on the floor of the launderette - together they paid for the pint I had while waiting for my laundry to 'cook'. (I don't usually go to the launderette, but all this miserable weather means that the stuff I washed to take on holiday with me tomorrow hasn't dried. :()

    2) Had a lovely cuddle with next door's super-cute black and white cat.

    3) Managed to pick 4 HG French beans to throw in with my dinner.

    4) It's Friday, and...

    5) I'm going on holiday tomorrow. :j:j:j

Have a nice evening, everyone, and a lovely bank holiday weekend - I'll be back on Tuesday (or possibly Wednesday, if I don't get round to switching the computer on when I get home on Tuesday afternoon ;)).
Back after a very long break!
