  • Congratulations on your move to Yorkshire emsf73 and I hope it's all you expected. Hugs to those who are feeling under the weather too.

    1) Got a piece of work done that I've been avoiding. It wasn't that bad, just a case of sitting down and making myself concentrate.
    2) Delivered a jar of HM chutney to the friends that gave me the courgettes/marrows yesterday. I like this swapping thing.
    3) Went to see my friend. She's just had a tummy tuck and is walking around rather cautiously but she is extremely happy that 'the Flap' from two Caesarians and the loss of four stone has finally gone. We made lunch together and then sat and chatted over cuppas.
    4) Went to the shops afterwards and didn't spend a thing. Why are all the tops so low at the front and why are the dresses so short? I think I'm looking in the wrong places.
    5) Waiting for DH to come home. We hope to have a romantic evening in and so far, it has cost us 85p for some yellow stickered meat. Everything else was already in the freezer or the fridge.

    2) Went for a walk with my neighbour. I had sort of noticed I was typing about him quite often in this thread but I am absolutely rubbish at guessing/knowing what other people are thinking and... erm... er... :D
    :D
Had kinda noticed. erm - enjoy.:D

    Evening all,

    5) Day off tomorrow, so I get a bit of a lie-in. (The day off itself won't be particularly pleasant, though - we've got to tell my grandmother she has to go into a home, and I know she's going to be heartbroken. :(

Sorry to hear this CCP. I am sure that it is for the best has sad and difficult as it is. *hug*

My day hs been awfully busy as my boss and the big boss were in the office today so I "had" to be in early. I got up in time to make my lunch... but then forgot it on the stairs, where I had conveniently put it so that I wouldn't forget it....:o I thought that even I wouldn't eat the tuna that I had left out for 12 hours... I am sure it would have been fine though.

    1) Being treated like a proper grown up in the senior team meeting. It is the first one that I have been invited to and my update was received well.

    2) Enjoyed seeing a colleague getting a bit of a grilling. I know that is very unkind of me, but he is a shameless, calculating brown-noser who wouldn't think twice about stitching anyone else up to further his career.

    3) Being told that one of my nice colleagues has resigned. She has been unhappy for a long time, and the knives were out for her so it really was for the best and I am sure she will be much happier wherever she decides to go.

    4) The drive home tonight over the Chilterns was quite spectacular. The contrast between the clouds and bright sunlight was really striking, combined with the very heavy rain that was sheeting down over very small area in the middle distance. I also love the first few fat, heavy drops of rain before the heavens open in a downpour. I don't know what it is... probably reminds me of the excitement of thunderstorms when I was a child in Africa.

    5) I will be making some plum jam this evening... the plums have been watching me reproachfully for the last 3 days soI must do something with them!

    Nighty night all.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    2. He took me out to lunch in an Italian restaurant and the food and wine were lovely.
    3. He bought me two old style books, Eating for Victory and Feeding the Nation. I have SO enjoyed reading them.:T
    4. Had a visit from my DIL and 2 grand daughters early evening yesterday. Showed them all our veg and herbs and gave them their pocket money, nectarines and chocolate and Nesquick to eat and drink. Lots and lots of hugs and kisses too. :kisses:

    5. Have a feeling of peace and contentment tonight.:) It's quiet and mild outside, veggies and herbs are growing. What more could you want? It's good to be alive tonight.

    Ooh, happy anniversary, parsonswife8!

Let's see what I can come up with:

    1. Getting confirmation via email that my planned night out tomorrow is going ahead. Yummy Asian food at Tampopo!

    2. Seeing my friend at the gym (he has been off with back problems) and getting a good workout in.

    3. Seeing piccies of my colleague's 13 week old puppy - a cross between a Jack Russell and a pug - SO CUTE!! She has promised to bring him into work this week.

    4. Delicious homemade lentil and vegetable jalfrezi with brown rice for tea - and lots left over.

    5. Finding a cheap flight from Bangkok to Yangon - haven't booked it yet but will do soon.

    6. Packing my books away ready for storage. The house is looking emptier and emptier!

    7. Getting my broken wing mirror fixed at a reasonable price by my friendly local garage.

Thnk that'll do for now - see you all soon.
Life is not a dress rehearsal.

Sorry to hear about your Grandma, CCP. I hope she makes some good friends in there and they have plenty going on. (My Grandma was in a home for 3 years).

Well, the day started badly. I went to sleep sometime after 5am due to my clumsy handling of nice man situation yesterday. Something to do with losing the ability to speak due to shock. I went over about 1000 replies I should have given him - anything would have been better than staring into space!

    Anyway, here are my 5.

    1) My sister coming home from Yorkshire so being able to chat to her properly on her home phone rather than shouting at her down her mobile phone (she has poor hearing).

    2) Going to see my neighbour and not quite dying of embarrassment whilst apologising for being rubbish yesterday. I think the apology worked rather well. :-)

    3) Coming home again and wandering round in a floaty daze then putting an ancient Rage Against the Machine CD on and doing lots of juggling until the boys came back home after lunch.

    4) Not very MSE but went to Currys to get smaller son the world's cheapest digital camera as he takes photos whenever he can. Also popped in to Sainsburys. Paid the garage for the car service while we were out and about.

    5) Walked to the local pub with sons, neighbour (yes, that one) and his dogs. It all went quite smoothly and on the way home we saw a toad, lots of bats then a barn owl.
