Caterina - it sounds as if you've made the right decision for you as the job was making you unhappy and it was affecting the way you wanted to live your life.

    My five are
    1. A lazy day at home.

    2. A NSD

    3. A HM chicken pie for tea which I managed to stretch LO chicken for.

    4. Two walks with my do and really taking the time to appreciate the area in which I live and realise how lucky I am living here.

    5. Doing some gardening and it has really made a big difference to how it looks.

Hi Guys - Sorry to have gone missing for a while...very bad reason - spending so much money so very guilty!! OK - confession time: we bought a lovely gorgeous campervan. We had thought to wait until Megs dad retired (2 yrs) but what the heck - we could just about afford it and have had a great summer so far out and about. The trouble is I have been buying stuff for it.
So now I am back and must get on the straight and narrow again.
    Yesterdays 5 were:
    1. Great homegrown veggies and eggs to eat
    2. Nice bike ride in the sunshine
    3. Not at all stiff after 6 mile run (working up to GNR again)
    4. Gardening in our lovely garden
    5. Two great dog walks

Take care and enjoy the summer

    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents

    Morning

Some pleasures from the last couple of days:
    1. DD doing make do and mend in school on Friday. She really enjoyed it but could also see how hard rationing was for people.
    2. Finally cooking the bargain duck crown that I had bought. I made it into a stirfry with sweet chilli sauce and chilli noodles. It should have done two lots of meals but OH and DD liked it so much they scoffed the lot.
    3. Went to waitrose late for my shopping on sunday and everything I needed was reduced. Plus got some poussins for 69p each. Being OS is certainly making me cook different things. Plus I think we eat much better now than ever before.
    4. Saturday we had a trip to Kingston where we had brunch and it was buy one get one free. I hadn't planned this, OH reckons I can find a bargain anywhere:money:
    5. Some freebie (low spend) toy story lego to put away for christmas for niece and nephew. Will get the bags today as well
    6. DD getting a full outfit for a wedding we are going to for less ta £20 plus it looks lovely

Hugs to all who need them.

My lovely free OS pleasure is having friends from Italy visiting me and spending time with me reminiscing about our youth and having lots of fun, eating food they brought me from their land and being joyful together.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

charlies - aunt I'm sure it won't be long before you're posting on here about your newly acquired cat and three kittens! Now that she's started to trust you, they will be coming back every day. Better start stocking up on those cat food tins !! And making a nice comfortable little sleeping place for them in your shed/garage !

This thread is an invitation to tell everyone about something positive or uplifting that has happened to you today - it can be anything that has made you feel good and that life is worth living

    Hi charlies-aunt,

As we already have the Old Style pleasures thread which is designed to be positive and uplifting, I've added your thread to it to keep the posts together.

    1) Coming down to a clean and tidy kitchen on a work morning. It's worth those extra few minutes at night putting everything away.
    2) Being invited onto a school trip and being given the water fight to supervise! The boys ran around in the woods squirting each other and I got to sit in the dappled shade under some ancient trees and listen to the leaves rustling.
    3) Heaven and Earth for tea - a recipe from Elisabeth Luard. Basically, a combination of roasted potatoes, bacon and apple. It should be eaten in the autumn, as the pigs fatten up on the windfalls from the orchards, but we like it at any time.
    4) Persuading DH to come home early to give DD a driving lesson. Our insurance is horrendous because we have a teenager on it so if we can have fewer driving lessons, I will be happy.
    5) Book Club this evening. I haven't read the book as I ducked out of the last one to go for a walk with DH but I enjoy the company, the wine and the snacks.

    Have a pleasant evening, everyone.

    Mine for today are:-
    1. Two slices of toast and wholenut peanut butter for brekkie.
    2. Feeding our resident wood pigeon this morning.
    3. Receiving my latest t-shirt purchase in the mail, from Ebay. Lovely long white, with some print on.
    4. Walking around the garden in the sunshine and looking at all our herbs and veg growing.
    5. Waiting for my whoopsie belly pork roast to finish slow roasting and then going to eat with our yellow and green courgettes and some cauliflower cheese. As well as hm apple sauce.
    :j
OMG, Just looked up from typing and the wood pidgeon has hopped up over the step and is sat on the little mat inside our front room.

;) Felines are my favourite ;)

    Here's my pleasures for today:

    1. My magazine arriving - lots of recipes to look though! It was a gift subscription so I don't mind. :)
    2. An easy tea. A slow cooked chicken & chorizo stew mixed with some cooked rice to make jambalaya. Nice.
    3. I'm going to have a nice cool bath later.
    4. Going through Boots and New Look and not buying anything I didn't need in spite of various sales being on.
    5. The sunshine. I've taken some lovely pictures of the river and some forming conkers. Nice.

Things are a little tense here tonight and I've just sent a message to a friend apologising as I've not been in touch for ages. I hope she understands :s

parsonswife8 - wow, a wood pigeon in your front room! We've not had anything that wild in here. Weirdest thing was a dragonfly.
