5 for today!
1) Had a bit of a tidy up this morning.
2) My neighbour came round with some raspberries for me.
3) Went out to lunch at my school friend's parent's house (school friend was there too, would have been quite odd otherwise!)
4) Had a chat on the phone with my sister.
5) Sunflower flowered.
6) Got the Wii Music disk working with the Wii Fit board so we can do drumming now!0 -

Thanks! I'm still hyper!:D
He's a right wee bruiser! 8lbs 8oz and my sister had him with no pain relief except from a couple of co-codamol before she went to bed!:eek:0 -
That's hard to beat!
Mine today was making jam. I love the colour. The fruit was free too, so it was doubly satisfying.0 -
1) Went to the allotment and picked some strawberries, which I have pickled in vodka. Was given some blackcurrants by my next-door-allotment neighbour (who has a nasty cough, which concerns me) and some eggs by the man that keeps chickens at the end.
2) Home-made soup for lunch with home-baked chocolate shortbread afterwards.
3) DS spent some time sawing up wood. We have been given offcuts of decking etc by a friend who is a joiner and I am hoping that DS can get most of it into small stove-sized chunks during the holidays. He doesn't seem to mind.
4) Making the blackcurrants into jelly (ie smooth jam) and it setting almost at once. I did wonder, as I was pressing it through the sieve, whether it was all worth it but I'm convinced now.
5) Reading about keyhole gardens on the Greenfingered Thread. What an amazing idea! The simple ones are the best.0 -
Hi mineallmine good to see you again
. I love the idea of your solar lights, both my neighbour and I have them in the back grdens and they look pretty at this time of evening. She also bought a string of 4 ladybird lights and put them along the front of a flower bed - makes me laugh cos it looks like the end on a runway in the dark :rotfl:
Lol at claiming the dining table back villagelife. That large, flat surface is just so handy to put things down on 'just for now' isn't it
niksyg is he a lab? When my late one was a pup he got into my wardrobe and ate my shoes, I had to go shopping in my slippers. Great to hear he's doing so well at his lessons
Oh I know Ginger Snap, I'm so excited I have butterflies just thinking about going, silly at my age. But if I don't go soon, who knows....Bless your DS for saying he loved you (what did he want btw
). Hope you enjoyed the fun day and the weather stayed kind
Great news about the rebate The Thrilla, not often you hear of the IR giving more than you expect. I love larder scrumping, never know what little treasures I bought a year or so ago because it sounded tasty at the time will turn up
Your trip to Gloucs sounds lovely Ladyhawk, good for you getting to Tintern as well, it's beautiful and so peaceful there. Lol at the relationship comment, one of my best friends is gay (a lady) and I often used to be asked if we were an item. I might love her to bits but NOT like that!:D
Ooh, lovely raspberries, ACEY. Everyone goes on about strawberries which to me are just okay but raspberries, and free ones at that - heaven
I've not heard of keyhole gardens Patchwork, will pop over and have a look out of interest (curiosity )
Mine for today
1. Had a lovely long shower in my beautifully clean bathroom
2. Met up with some friends for a bring a dish lunch
3. Went to collect some more of the sand I've been given. It doesn't get any lighter but now have about a quarter of it, so getting there
4. Took the covers off the sofas to wash them overnight on econ7
5. DNeighbours OH put my 4 mini pichers up on the garden wall, they're now planted up and looking very pretty
6. Listened to an inspirational tape someone has given me, it's interesting, fun, thought-provoking...well what I heard was, I fell asleep halfway through!
7. Good, if brief, penny phone call. Sweet DF will be moving to long term care tomorrow so they're going to phone me with the direct line number. I hope they don't forget
Night night sweet dreams

Hello all!
Oh my, I'm so happy today :j
My five (6) are:
1: Oh is home, so lazy morning with newspapers, radio and crochet in bed.
2: Went to the fruit farm and got 10Kg of fruit - enough for bottles and bottles of cordial (I have blood in my cordial stream).
3: Went to see a friend who gave me loads of empty jars and bottles for my preserves.
4: Same friend took me to the huuugest cherry tree, where we picked 12Kg of red cherries - all for free as her sister doesn't trust anything that doesn't come from a supermarket . Then she showed us the Morello cherry tree where we picked 1Kg of cherries.
5: Have just preserved the Morellos in vanilla syrup ready for winter and have started my cherry wine.
6: Counted my crocheted squares and have made over 40! Only another 200 to go!
All this has made for the most amazing day (for me, I really have no life). As I'm not in uni tomorrow, and OH is here until the afternoon, I'm going to be making and preserving tomorrow and probably Tuesday.

Mine were a lady letting me go in front of her in the supermarket as I only had two things, then straight afterwards a nice man let me get on the bus first even though I was there after him. Even though they were both small things, they put me in a good mood for the day.D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0

Good morning all, on this very early morning!
CCP: I certainly did NOT pick up those earwigs, I sent DD's BF to do so, he is a regular St Francis and has the gentlest way with all creatures including bugs (you should see him gently moving wasps away with his bare hands!)! I am not THAT brave!
Sparrer: Happy tripping! I would have loved to go to India but given that I no longer fly this is a past dream now. I shall be delighted to hear your stories in the next year (something to look forward to!).
GingerSnap thanks for the kind words of encouragement, I have decided that office work is definitely not for me, so I am going to give it up!
The reason I am up and on the PC so early is because as always this is the first place where I tend to go when things get on top of me, or if I have to clarify my own thoughts, or just to take some comfort from friends.
First of all a little confession: in the last couple of months I have really fallen off the OS wagon, what with new jobs for both DH (happy) and me (not so happy - but I did not know when I took it!), summer and wanting to buy myself new clothes etc...
When I read this thread I am always reminded of the true joys of life, reading about people making their own clothes, pickling allotment-grown strawberries in vodka, baking, making and making do, and still finding lots of pleasure in life, then I remember that I can have all this AND not go to work!
In the last few weeks, ever since starting the new job really, I have been waking up very early with a sense of dismay at the idea of having to go into an office. It is not that I do not like to work, I work very hard on so many accounts, but I just cannot stand having a boss, having to work on other people's time, having to trek to an office on the other side of London... I could go on.
So as usual here I am to bring my thoughts but also my blessing to share with you all:
1- I have decided to leave the job, I feel that I can be a better wife, mother, volunteer and all-round OSer if I do not have to trek it into the office and can care about the people, animals and vegetals I love much better by staying at home.
2 - My friends from Italy and their child are here and we are having a whale of a time together
3 - They brought me tomatoes from their country place and yesterday we made sauce with their tomatoes with my garlic and my basil and we ate a lovely pasta, like mamma used to make hehee it was delicious!
4 - The weather is holding so today I am doing a bedding laundry
5 - DH is happy with me leaving the work, I think that he knows I shall look after him much better if I concentrate on domestic things
Love to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
