Taking my 6 year old grandson for a walk along the canal today, talking about anything and everything. We stopped to feed the ducks and stroked a couple of dogs, then we went and stood on the train bridge and watched trains go under our feet waving at the drivers as they went by.
Then down to where this horse is running free in a field who always comes when you shout here boy, gave him a polo mint, and then gathered some wild flowers for his mummy when she came to pick him up tonight before he returns to France on Friday.
Some lovely memories to keep for the following months!:kisses:0 -
I'm sorry to have been so clumsy with this -
I just want Julia to be able to come here at times and see an accumulation of small things, everyone's everyday little moments noted and linked to Tony, to them both.
I suspect I need to move it somewhere else, but please help me here with suggestions.
Today, after leaving a further note in Church, I'd not gone far when a young hare crossed my path, left to right[the lucky way], so that can be Tony's.
Hmm, I've had an idea - I'll re-do it as a 'Leave your mot-it moment here' Thread and put it on dfw. where most of us first met Julia.....tomorrow.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

My five+:
1) waking up early and spending half an hour on the Wii Fit whilst dp and dd slept on
2) followed by breakfast in bed
3) cuddles from dd
4) enjoying my new talking book on the way into work
5) completing some tasks, some on my own, some working with colleagues and getting a 'thank you' message from line manager's manager's manager
6) ampersand, I just read some of Tony and Julia's thread, thinking of them both and sending good vibes their way"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
My 5 pleasures today:
1. The smell of fresh cut grass as the riverbank behind my office was mown. Beautiful.
2. When I couldn't get the last bit of product out of a bottle of body lotion I stood the bottle on edge in an empty sandwich filling tub and got a heck of a lot more out!
3. A cool breeze around my toes as I sit down after a busy day.
4. A colleague sending around some of his wildlife photography - impressive pictures of robins, grey herons, blackbirds, etc. Very cool.
5. Mum & Dad coming back from a holiday with a couple of teatowels and some sticks of rock for me. Bless them!
(and because the day started so badly I did buy a cupcake or two - and a whoopie pie - and that definitely was a pleasure!)

5 for today.
1) Bigger son's presentation at school going well. He sang the Viking Song, handed out all the bookmarks he had made, read a few notes out about the Vikings then everyone had a Viking oatcake (we finished cooking at 10.30 last night!) His teacher photocopied the recipe that I had chucked in, all oil spattered in my terrible writing. I would have printed it out for him if I'd have known she wanted it! Then he was sent off around school to give the remaining oatcakes to all the other teachers! There will be a prize giving for the best talk so he is feeling hopeful...
2) Cooked a massive amount of soup in my big pan. Used tinned tomatoes, lentils, celery and carrot. Had some few lunch and there are 6 servings in the freezer.
3) Cleaned the bathroom and tidied generally.
4) Lots of excitement after school! It is smaller son's birthday at the start of August and he would like a bike. I have been on Freecycle and asked around and haven't had any luck. Anyway, we went to Spokes which takes in old bikes which are renovated by people with special needs. I thought they might have 10 bike renovations on the go but it is actually in a massive warehouse and there are HUNDREDS!! So son had to look at every bike with 20 inch wheels. He's picked a gold mountain bike which will take 2 weeks to refurbish, new wheels, saddle, brakes etc - £40!
Can't think of a 5th but not a bad day, overall.0 -
Evening all,
I didn't post yesterday as I got back from London fairly late and was exhausted!
Yesterday
1) Did a presentation skills workshop at work and realised that actually I am rather good at presenting. There are a few things to work on though...
2) Free lunch as part of the worskshop and as 3 people didn't pitch up there was extra for the rest of us... i had 3 packs of fruit salad!!
3) As there were so few of us on the course we finished early so I popped along to the Next sale and picked up some really nice brown leather boots for winter.
4) Met my friend L at the Hilton on Park Lane for some pampering (at a bargain basment price thanks to Lastmnute.com) so had a fabulous massage, manicure and pedicure
5) Went out for a pizza and used my Taste London card so got 50% off.
Today
1) NSD - first one in ages!!
2) managed to get loads of work done as my partner in crime in the office is on holiday and we tend to distract eachother quite a bit (in a good way obviously!)
3) Getting home at a reasonable time and having a snooze
4) Having a bit of a tidy up
5) Seeing that my sunflower is finally opening... hopefully it will continue to open despite looking a little dead due to lack of water!
6) Noticing that one of my black currant bushes has got new leaves on it... I thought I had killed it!
Nighty night...
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Yes please Caterina, can we have the recipe if your friend will let us? I love (proper) Italian food, fortunately have a friend with an Italian husband who is an amazing cook so have the pleasure of eating with them from time to time
. The cake holder sounds lovely, I do like it when people buy such appropriate gifts rather than just another box of smellies or whatever. So thoughtful
Tealady have a super weekend and I'm sure the party will go perfectly. Of course you'll miss DD but how lovely for her to have such special grandparents that they'll have her for the holidays. Lucky girl
Oh yummy, cinnamon buns are a favourite of mine  zara. I envy you going shopping for garden things, it's the very best sort of shopping (and costs me far too much!)
What a happy time with your DGS Vedder, do you find, like me, that you have so much more time as a grandmother than you did as a mother? Time is far more important spent with a child than worrying about the housework
Congrats on the 'thank yous' from high above Girly, it's heartwarming to be appreciated for the extras one does :T
Good for you on OS'ing the body lotion Kitchenbunny. The fresh grass smell, cool breeze and wildlife photography all sound blissful, more so because they really are free pleasures
Will keep everything x'd for bigger son ACEY, sounds like he put in a tremendous effort there. Well done on finding the bike shop, what a bargain smaller son will end up with
Congrats on the workshop Ladyhawk, is there no end to your skills?Hope the sunflower continues to bloom, they really are such happy flowers.
My 5
1. Woke early to a beautiful day when rain was forecast. We've only had one wet day in the past month, somehow it always just misses us
2. Spent a good hour chatting on the phone with the lady I'm going to India with, discussing travel, visas etc (and yes you probably will get heartily sick of hearing me go on about it, but ordinary Mary doesn't usually get this sort of opportunity in her life! Feel free pull me up if I overdo it)
3. Seeing the cats and dog all sunbathing together on the lawn. They do it all the time but if anyone goes outside they up and run as if they mustn't be seen fraternizing with the opposition!
4. NSD, the first for a few days. I must start pulling my belt in
5. Jacket potato, scraps of chicken and a little grated cheddar for dinner, with a tomato salad. All use-up stuff from the bottom of the fridge, very yummy and filling
Night night, sweet dreams
