Morning all. I didn't get round to posting my pleasures yesterday, so here they are (in a bit of a hurry as I'm meant to be doing some work
):
1) Another lie-in.
2) Tomatoes are starting to appear on my plants. :j
3) Had a phone call from my dad, which was a pleasure in itself, but also found out that my grandmother is coming out of hospital and will be back home today.
4) Sausage sarnie for dinner, using up LO sausages from Saturday's BBQ, with fried onions. Very , and almost worth the indigestion I had for the rest of the evening.
5) Watched the football in my local pub, with a large group of Spaniards and one lone Dutchman. It was wonderfully friendly and good natured, and what football should really be about.
Have a good day, all - I'll pop back in my lunchbreak and catch up properly.Back after a very long break!0 -
5 for yesterday, if I can remember back that far.
1) Quite a leisurely day. We were going to go to Worcester but bigger son was terribly sick half way (apologies to whoever's driveway we stopped in....)
2) Sons played nicely together.
3) Lots of phone calls from friends and family.
4) Listened to the Archers on iplayer when I was in bed.
Oh dear, only 4! Very worried this morning as later today will be the first time this year the boys have had unsupervised contact with their father. Here's hoping for no stupidity on his part....0 -
Been awol due to my dearest friend being very poorly and going downhill now. I've been told there's no point in going there atm as he's not well enough for visitors so have to wait and see if/when I can. We do speak on the phone every day though, even if sometimes it is through one of the nurses. I've really not felt up to being chatty and sociable, however I need get off my pity potty and look for the good things...
my 5
1. I've been given about half a ton of sharp sand for the base of my new patio. I just have to collect it...
2. I won £40 at DD's pub's 'bonus ball' draw. That's 20 more for my holiday with DGC and 20 towards petrol for my visit to friends in Yorkshire.
3. The contnuing lovely weather. Rain was forecast today for the first time in 3 weeks...it was about 6 tiny drops then the sun came out again
4. My 18-month-old laptop broke down yet again, it's obviously a rogue one, but fortunately I have a 5-year-old one that DGD2 sold me when she got a new one. It's far less erratic and doesn't have to be rebooted every few minutes. When the holidays and patio are done a new one will be my next savings project...it's never ending, isn't it?
5. Once again, the 1p a minute telephone calls to Bejing. Huge thanks to MSE, without them I don't know how we'd manage
Take care

sparrer - (((Hugs))) to you, thinking of your friend and hope their health improves soon.
ACEY - I hope your sons contact with their father goes well today.
balmaiden - Sometimes the simplest of pleasures are the best aren't they
Here are yesterdays OS pleasures:
- Lots of rest in the morning as I had walked too far the day before and I was sore and achey.
- DH painted the front garden wall that we have been meaning to paint for 2 years:eek:. Best of all, we found a full tin of paint in the shed so we didn't have to spend any money either.
- Roast chicken dinner, yum. Lots of chicken leftover too for other meals.
- World cup final. Knowing that its all over for another 4 years, whoppee!!!
- Finding out that a neighbour is selling their house. I know it sounds a mean thing to have as a pleasure, but the house has been rented out for the last year, and the tenants are a bit of a pain in the backside - shouting, swearing loudly at the children and generally using the entire street as their own personal rubbish bin. Nobody around here will be sad to see them go!
Today's pleasures:
- A free packet of sugar in the post thanks to the freebie board
- Getting my online shopping delivered, saving me dragging my aching bones through the supermarket and having full cupboards/fridge/freezer again.
- Making DD homemade houmous for dinner and she loved it.
- Following some online instructions to take apart and mend my dyson by myself. I managed to get it working again, the small plastic bag and biro jammed in the pipes may have been causing the problem :D.
- The rain watering the garden for me.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0 -
Here are some pleasures of mine for the day:
1. Rain. It's a nice, soft drizzle and the plants and grass are loving it.
2. Another NSD, then realising I have had 5 NSDs in a row.
3. Having picked Spain in the World Cup Sweepstake, I picked up a small amount of winnings today
4. And used it to pay for my Avon orderFree goodies.
5. A treat for tea - chilli con carne from the freezer, then DH paid for a small bag of chips from the chippy for usNo cooking!
KB xxTrying for daily wins, and a little security in an insecure world.0 -
mine for today
1. cleaned kitchen and cleaned and tidied 2 food cupboards.
2. Went through all the food i have and made a list and meal plan. Have enough food to last 3 weeks!!!! Should keep my weekly costs down as just need fresh fruit/veg and milk!!! :j (and whoopsies!!!!)
3. Slice of hm fruit loaf with my cup of tea this morning. Lovely to sit down and relax whilst ds2 entertained himself!!!
4. Had a little nap after picking ds1 up from school. Nearly fell asleep before leaving for school so did well to last until we got home!!! :rotfl:
5. Cottage pie out of freezer for tea (which everyone ate even dd ) and found a few packs of jelly and a tin of fruit cocktail at back of cupboard so fruit in jelly with enough for dessert tomorrow! :T
Hugs to all who need them.0 -
Hi everyone,
Sparrer - sorry to hear about your friend. That's really sad - hope he's doing better today.
KB - well done on your win!
Nutty - I am very jealous of your little nap especially as I will have to be up at silly oclock tomorrow
Molly - I'm also so relieved the football is over. I watch the final but really I find football exceptionally dull
CCP - my tomato plants are also finally converting flowers to fruit
Patchwork - WD on the lemon curd. I would love to make some but sadly I am minus a double boiler - do you use one?
Balmaiden - welcome back and well done on your veggies
An ok day today at work. Senior management were out so it was fairly relaxed.
1) Wander into town with a colleague and had a good natter
2) Took my new Billabong watch (courtesy of Freecycle!!) to get a new battery. It is really lovely and totally my style (ie very plain) so I am very chuffed with a cool new watch for only £6!
3) Popped into Wilkos - and couldn't help but buy two really healthy chilli plants that were marked down to 50p each. My colleagues are always impressed about the bargains I drag back to the office.
4) Finally cooking up the massive bag of onions that have been lurking in my kitchen for at least 6 weeks! I will be freezing most of them once they have cooled.
5) Carrying on with "Project Tidy Flat" by taking photos of some tables that I want to put onto ebay. I also vacuumed and dusted a bit.
Night all - sweet dreams.
