Evening all. Hope you've had a nice day in all this lovely sunshine (well, it is on the south coast, anyway :)).

    My five for today:

    1) Lie-in this morning. I really needed it and feel much better for the extra sleep.

    2) Sorted out my car insurance - the quote I finally accepted was only £15 less than the renewal quote, but I got £45 cashback so I'm quite chuffed. :money:

    3) Washed my car, so it's all clean and shiny again. (For the time being anyway - darn seagulls.)

    4) Got some tidying up done in the garden, and managed to beat back a huge bramble from a neighbour's garden without getting horribly scratched.

    5) The smell of a BBQ from a neighbour's garden, and knowing I'll be doing the same thing myself in a bit. I hope my dinner won't be quite as 'caramelised' as theirs smelt, though. ;)

    Have a lovely evening, all.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening all

    Mine for today

    1. had a bit of a lie in but more importantly woke up myself rather than being woken up by kids screaming!!! And when i did get up ds2 came running up to me saying 'you are wonderful'!!! Bless him :D

    2. Cleaned the kitchen and put on washing whilst kids ate breakfast

    3. Spent the morning mowing the lawn and using sheers to do edges (my sister is giving me her old strimmer but until then sheers will do!!!), so lawns look nice and tidy and then we all played football! :j

    4. Spent a bit of time in afternoon chillin' whilst kids watched a film and i did a bit of crochet. Am working on a HUGE alien, and only done his eye so far!!! But crocheting is the only thing i will do infront of kids as i dont like having knitting needles and sewing needles about when they are running round.

    5. BBQ for tea. Then afterwards watched dh run around garden playing with kids wearing them out! They will sleep well tonight.

    Have a good evening everyone.

    Evening all,

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Milkman delivery this morning, so nice to get up to fresh milk and orange juice on the doorstep
    2. Some free washing tablets in the post today to trail.
    3. Also got another £3 in vouchers from a survey
    4. Lovely lie in this morning. After the last couple of really busy weeks was lovely
    5. Walk around the shops with DD this afternoon and a lovely iced raspberry tea from costa

Hugs to all who need them
  • 1) A lie in. I just love being off timetable (for a little while anyway).
    2) Brunch at the local supermarket cafe and they have promised to save their little jars for me, as quite a lot of mine have not come back.
    3) Picked more strawberries at the allotment. It made me think ... I believe that growing your own teaches you patience as you have to wait for certain things to come into season before you can eat them and I think that's a very good thing. However, we won't have another year like this one (in terms of soft fruit) for a very long time and it therefore makes you appreciate not just a season but a year. Very long term thinking.
    4) The lovely man over the fence at the allotment gave me some calabrese and courgettes.
    5) Main meal made out of left overs, including some meringues that I had left in the oven to cool about two days ago and forgotten. They were rather golden by the time I discovered them but perfectly edible.

Hope we can all sleep in this heat.

    Its not too hot here!

    Have had a busy day - here's my 5:

    1) Having a bit of a lie in.

    2) Neighbour coming round for a cup of tea.

    3) Sons taking part in a sponsored bike ride through the Wyre Forest. (It was actually a triathlon but the Scouts did the tough parts!) There were 50 riders and smaller son was 3rd! One boy fell off almost immediately and broke his collar bone :-( but he is OK.

    4) Went round to neighbour's to pick raspberries (I think I detect a bit of a theme here).

    5) Went to the barbeque to mark the end of the triathlon. The broken collar bone boy had been to hospital and was at the BBQ complete with sling. My sons were running all over the place then we went in the field by the forest and played frisbee.

    Morning everyone,

    Hope you are all well.

    1) Finally got my tartaric acid from a small brewing shop 20 miles away. It was a long way to go for just a little pot of the stuff. So today I will be making my lemon cordial finally!

    2) Afternoon nap for two and a half hours!

    3) Felix playing with one of his toys - he used to be scared of it

    4) Hen night for a friend - not really wild despite all the other ladies on the hen night are students!! I was the Grand Dame of the evening. We just went to the Comedy Store which was pretty good. The highlight being Sarah Millican who was very funny.

    5) Went for a long walk around the West End before meeting the girls with a spot of quiet people watching as well.

Sparrer - where are you? Hope everything is ok.

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

Morning, everyone. Here's my pleasures for yesterday:

    1. When DH did the washing yesterday, we managed to get everything line dried in the morning thanks to the sun. It was beautiful.
    2. Getting a few small bits of cleaning done in passing moments.
    3. Mending some fleeces ready for winter.
    4. Getting DH's bike leathers fixed instead of taking them to a seamstress.
    5. Making lovely HM pizza last night. While I'm surprised no-one was having a barbecue it was nice to have a big meal that wasn't a hassle to prepare.

Not a lot planned today as it's going to be another hot one. I do have a (great big) pile of ironing to do which I'll get done this morning, and then I think there'll only be one or two bits done today. Some more mending and perhaps a bit of surfing to find a pair of nice-looking wellies for winter. Take care, everyone, and have a good day.

  • 1. Washed towels and bedding and they are on the line, drying nicely in the breeze
    2. Using "washer balls" instead of detergent and softener. I thought I'd give them a go. Has to be good if it means less chemicals!
    3. Catching up on some films I got but haven't had chance to watch yet
    4. Having a light lunch of home-made pasties I made yesterday using the recipe for yoghurt pastry I got from on here somewhere
    5. Not going out anywhere - got some stuff to do for work - so a NSD for me!

    Hi all

Here are a few more pleasures and blessings while I am online:

1 - Lazying in the shade in the garden on my fav recliner

2 - Lunches and dinners in the garden because of wonderful weather

3 - DH making breakfast for me (and the bonus is: he is clearing last night mess that we left in the kitchen after dinner!)

4 - Booked a day out in Paris for me and DD (there is a secondary reason but I won't bore you with it, it is some bureaucratic thing I have to sort, but it will leave us enough time for window shopping and a nice lunch!).

5 - Looking forward to a couple of hours peace while all the world watches the football tonight!

    Have a great day everybody!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
