ACEY - thinking of you (((hugs)))
Ladyhawk - what a lovely looking cat. (((hugs)))
Here are my five pleasures for today:
1. Clearing my desk at work. It felt really good to get it clear.
2. Clearing my bag out - must have had half a Boots' counter in there - much lighter!
3. Chatting with DH - always makes me smile.
4. I found 10p at the bus stop this morning.
5. Preparing lamb kebabs for tomorrow night - tikka ones. Mmm
I'm not feeling overly chatty tonight. I seem to have the tidy bug so I'm going to go and do a few bits of cleaning while I can be bothered. I've got the ironing to doso that is calling! Have a good evening, everyone.

5) watching the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show on the BBC"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -

1. cleaned kithen, mopped floor, cleaned dinning room table and put on load of washing before leaving for school run
2. toddler group was brilliant today. i was the only volunteer there (and support worker at a different group) I did everything, it was great fun and i got a little cuddle from the baby in the group!!!
3. made peppermint creams in under 5's cooking. they were vile!!! but i dont like peppermint!! :rotfl: great fun making them though! and loads turned up so somehow i got given the job of helping everyone with measurements and helping some of kids with their mixes!!! so i got covered in icing sugar and food colouring! makes a change from paint!!!
4. kids made fish and chips in family seal. that was very nice. will definatly make that again!! and so easy. i didnt realise putting breadcrumbs on stuff was so easy!!!
5. nice simple cheap jacket potato for my tea (and a bit of the kids fish!!!).

1) Got the house cleaned and the bedding dried on the line. Summer seems so money saving in terms of heat and light. Had time to kill some weeds too before I had to go out.
2) Our tree feller came this morning to discuss a serious haircut for the trees at the bottom of the garden. DH was very pleased at the price and we will be getting some logs out of it too.
3) Treated to a coffee by a friend who has just come back from a cycling holiday. She said it was magical. She has just finished training for her job too and has got a pay rise. Nice to hear such good news.
4) Charity shopping turned up a silk top for £2.99 and it's a lovely colour.
5) Got another three punnets of strawberries at the allotment with some raspberries too. Made some jam with the strawberries and DH is going to eat the raspberries when he finally gets home.0 -
Evening all.
nuttybabe - if you ever have any peppermint creams you don't want, please send them my way. I don't generally like minty things either, but I will eat as many peppermint creams as I can get my hands on, given half the chance!
Ladyhawk - thanks so much for sharing the photos of Toupe - he was a lovely, friendly looking cat. (And so's Felix, so he doesn't feel left out!)
wssla00 - it's lovely to see you posting again, and I'm sorry to hear you're feeling lousy at the moment. I hope all your meds etc get sorted out soon.
ACEY - I'm sorry you had a dreadful day in court, but very pleased to hear you had such a clear-sighted judge who could see exactly what your ex and his solicitor are like. I hope you've had a good day today - you deserve one.
My pleasures for today:
1) NSD today - that's two in one week for the second week in a row. :j I wonder if I can keep this up for the rest of the month? I spy a challenge!
2) The hot, dry weather has caused my wooden front door to split. That's not a pleasure, but the fact it's my landlord's responsibility and not mine to find the money to repair / replace it, most definitely is.
3) The first chilli has appeared on one of my plants. :j
4) And a hosta that I thought the slugs had killed has got a new leaf on it. :j:j
5) My missing swifts are back.I've only seen four or five for the past few weeks and I was starting to worry - tonight there's so many I can't count them (it's somewhere between 25 and 35 I think, but there could be more. You can see why they're called 'swifts' when you're trying to count them!)
Have a pleasant evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening,
Just a quick pos tonight as I really need my bed.
1. Chatting on the phone with my mum about a trip she went on today to Saltburn. It brought back so many childhood memories am now determined to spend the day there when we are in the north in a few weeks.
2. Ordered a some posters and a banner today for parents anniversay party and only had to pay P&P:money:also managed to get some stickers and fridge magnets with there wedding photo on that the kids that are going will like and probably a few of the adults;)
3. Resisted the urge to eat a cake at work, wrapped it in clng film and brought it home for DD
4. Bumping into a friend that havn't seen for a while and her encouranging me to go back to exercise class. Guess thats where I will be next week:eek:. Girlysquare your comments have also encouraged me to get back on the Wii fit so going to try fitting in 15 mins beore work tomorrow
5. Enjoying a glass of chilled rose wine, I'm normally a red wine drinker but in this weather a glass of chilled wine is very nice:D0 -

5 Chatted to dd on phone who is really excited about camping weekend awayMy finances are work in progress.Normal veiwing will resume shortly0 -
5 for today!
1) Went to mum and dad's and took my brother's dog for a long walk (about an hour).
2) Had a letter from the PDSA and they will contribute £57 towards my cat's operation, a few weeks back when she lost her tail. Also had a nice letter from my solicitor saying how positive the judge's words had been and that all is not lost. And a letter from the Financial Ombudsman to say all my paperwork I sent them about HSBC is in order and they are looking into my complaint...
3) Organised my sons' social lives! Smaller son has a friend coming for tea (Friday) and bigger son is off to a friend's to play and we shall all meet up again before Beavers.
4) Had a lovely tea - grilled trout, cous cous and veg then a summer pudding that I made yesterday.
5) Mum texted to remind me it is our younger cat's birthday (!) so we lit her some candles and she had some of the trout from teatime.
That's about it for today.0 -
Hi all
First of all I want to send a big (((HUG))) to Ladyhawk for the loss of her beautiful Toupe, when I saw his picture I had tears in my eyes.
GingerSnap - the freebie from Grazia (of last week) was a small tube of Modern Friction from Origins - they were supposed to have given me some other samples too but the package was empty (!!!) - I was not bothered to go back as I find the staff in Selfridges usually are very rude and inattentive, so when I actually want to BUY stuff I go to the counter in John Lewis where the staff are delightful and they know me personally (as I am a big Origins fan!). And I can pay with the John Lewis card and gain points!
Sparrer - you are right, the free transport is such a privilege! I have been using mine for the last week and every time I touch in and out I feel a real thrill that I am not paying (tightwad ol'me! hehehe).
Ampersand - good to see you online again, I am not here very frequently either these days so it is good to see old friends still popping in and out!
Here are a handful of random pleasures from the last few days:
1 - All the plants in the allotment are doing well
2 - The courgette plants in the back garden already have fruit, so have the tomato plants and the beans are all in flower!
3 - The passion flowers climbing on the fence are flowering and they are gorgeous!
4 - The weather is still lovely (even if this means I have to water plants for HOURS these days!).
5 - Work is ok, am getting used to the commute and it feels good to know that I am going to earn some money for the family and for my own treats.
6 - The kindness of true friends. Yesterday someone I knew quite well (I thought I did) told me she did not want to have anything to do with me anymore as in her words "I had been very aggressive and told her how to live her life". It left me shocked because, much as I know that I do make suggestions etc. I really do not have an agenda to impose my views on people at all. However, following this quite traumatic phone conversation - I had called her to invite her to my birthday celebration, of all things! - and the barrage of aggressive abuse I received, I called another friend who knows both of us and she helped me put things into perspective and made me see that I am not such a bad person as the other "friend" led me to believe. TRUE friends see me for who I am and accept me, warts and all, and know that I never want to hurt a soul!
7 - The kindness of my family after the above episode, how DD and DH also offered love and support and helped me feel better about myself.
8 - Managing to still carve a few hours to meet a volunteering commitment I had taken before getting the job (it is with an old lady and I would hate to let her down!). In fact I am going to see her in a half hour so I better be off!
9 - Last but not least, no work until Tuesday!
Have a great day,all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
