5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Afternoon all. Hope you're all well and stuff (as my sister always puts it!).
I haven't had a particularly good day today - the department that caused me so much grief last week are at it again, and I've concluded that my working life would be considerably better if the whole lot of them were dropped down a deep hole. (I'm joking, of course. Mostly.) I decided to console myself with some chips to go with my dinner - the skinny ones you hate so much, sparrer
- but none of the three supermarkets I pass on my way home had any chips of any variety. Where have all the chips gone?!
Anyway, I'm determined to find five nice things about my day:
1) NSD (although I would have preferred to have the chips and skip the NSD, tbh).
2) Got a lovely feline welcome home - from next door's cat. It's very odd, although not at all unpleasant, to get such an effusive greeting from someone else's cat.
3) Lovely, ice cold bottle of cider from the fridge when I got home. I got it when it was on special offer, too.
4) First flower of the year on my rescue dahlia - it was going for compost in my parent's garden until I staked a claim on it, and it's beautiful - dark red leaves and red/ orange/ yellow flowers.
5) Football tonight. Come on Uruguay! :j (No, I'm not sure why I'm supporting Uruguay either. I just am.)
********************villagelife - you lucky person having sweet peas. I didn't grow any this year, for the first time in ages, and I'm missing the smell of them.
KarleyMarie - you're another twinks fan, then? I really must get round to trying them one of these days. (I've been saying that since I joined the OS forum!)
sparrer - good on your friend for turning herself round, and for discovering the pleasure of growing things. One of the small pleasures of my job is frequently coming across people like your friend who have stopped drinking / using / whatever and are determined to make a better life for themselves. I admire them all so much.
nuttybabe - what a day you had yesterday! I hope life has been free of eejit phone calls today.
Ladyhawk - I really hope your furbabe is OK and the tests show something that can be fixed. Give him a stroke and my best wishes, please.********************
Right, I must go and find something for dinner. It won't be chips, though.Have a nice evening, all.
Back after a very long break!0 -

Hello this is my first ever post though i have been lurking the forum for a while now. My computer skills are new too so please forgive any mistakes i make. Am chuffed with myself for achieving this small feat. :j0
-
Welcome to all newbies and hello to all lurkers!
1) Traffic was light on the way to work this morning, saving time and money.
2) Left overs for lunch plus some flapjack that someone left lying around on the coffee table in the staff room. I'm sure they meant it to be eaten. Anyway, the gannets descended and it's too late now.
3) Went to see an old friend for a coffee on the way home from work and left her birthday present and card. The card was £1.25 from a local artist who does prints of her work and the birthday present was commissioned from a mutual friend of ours who does very reasonably priced applique pictures. I feel we've supported the local economy.
4) Called in at another friend's on the way back. When I rang, she and the children were all cross and crying. By the time I got there, things had improved and we had a nice chat. Girls' night out soon.
5) No time to cook tea so I called in at Tesco and got a half price salmon cut up into steaks (price per steak less than £1) some new potatoes and green beans with some yellow-sticker cherries for afters.0 -

3 - back to sewing the cushions, wishing I had a machine
4 - two belts bought in Oxfam for £4

Evening all!
Haven't popped in for a while, but decided that I need to get back into the habit of listing my OS pleasures.
1) Half day at work
2) Hospital appointment this afternoon went well - don't have to go back until December.
3) Picked up a slow cooker from a lovely lady via freegle - hurrah! Super chuffed with this as I have wanted one for ages and now have one and it was freeeeee!
4) I felt really tired at around 6ish this evening and nodded off on the sofa - when I woke up, OH had done the washing up, sorted out a load of washing and had done a general tidy up
5) Took the pup for a lovely walk by the sea this eveningClearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
Evening
Today has been quite hard as it is two years today since I lost my oldest brother to Bowel Cancer, he was only 46:(
Determined to find some pleasures:
1. OH phoning me at work mid morning to check I was ok
2. Sticking to my healthy eating today, I tend to comfort eat so this was some feat
3. Coming home to find I had not shut the freezer door properly:mad: this was not a pleasure but the pleasure is we only lost half a tub of ice-cream. The rest was still frozen except for a few bits which I have cooked to use through the week. Lots of cooking and preparing was good for me as the kitchen and cooking is a bit of a have for me when feeling down or stressed.
4. Not shouting at someone who works at the desk opposite me when he left a horrible really smelly banana on his desk all day. I know this sounds strange but I am allergic to bananas and the smell makes me nauseous and he knows this.
5. Tried something new for dinner. I had some fish called mahi mahi. I still haven't made my mind up if I liked it or not:cool:
Its amazing that even on a really bad day that this thread makes you think of the positives.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Tealady - sorry to hear about your tough day. I really like mahi-mahi - how did you repare it?Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
