Seeing my little girls faces at the sight of homemade orange lollipops.. icepops are so last year in our house now0

Afternoon, everyone. Here's my pleasures for today:
1. A nice walk to Mr Ts earlier with DH. He helped me pick out a gorgeous bikini, one which I wouldn't normally have gone for myself. And, even though I can see a few areas that need toning, I don't feel bad about myself in it! Bless him.
2. Only buying the food I needed, thus reducing the amount I spent to the bare minimum.
3. Making my shopping list for the next week, and refining my mealplan to make it healthier.
4. Getting the house clean yesterday meant that when I woke up, all I had to do was wash up and there was nothing else to do. Everything was nice and clean, and I felt all proud.
5. Doing a bit more sewing. I'm still nearly finished my current project-present!
Apart from a cracking headache which isn't helping my day, it hasn't been too bad. For some reason I've a nagging worry that won't go away - grr. I hope it goes, the headache too. Last night we had a bit of a Lost marathon and watched 5 episodes in a rowWe're now caught up to the end of the 3rd season and can't wait for the next discs. I was looking for train driving experience days for my Dad - steam ones, that is - and can't find anything in my price range. I'll need to find something a bit easier on the pocket.
Have a lovely evening, everyone. I'm off to cook prawn stir-fry with noodles in a minute in the hope that having something to eat will help take the headache away. Take care, all!

Afternoon all. Hope you've all had a decent weekend.
Ladyhawk - I'm glad your furbabe came back eventually, and hope he's feeling better today.
My pleasures for the last couple of days:
Saturday:
1) Went up to south London to visit my grandmother in hospital, with my sister. We got there just after 2, not realising that visiting hours didn't start until 2.30, but the lovely nurse in charge let us in 'because it's nearly the right time'. What a nice man! :T
2) My grandmother was sitting in a chair and chatting quite happily. A couple of days ago we'd all accepted she was dying and all the hospital could do was make her comfortable for her last few hours - she says she's doing it deliberately to keep us all on our toes! :rotfl:
3) Afterwards went for a walk with my sister beside the river - the trees were green and full of birds, the river was clear and full of fish, and it was very pleasant indeed.
4) Had a delicious king prawn risotto for dinner and, by Surrey / London standards, at a very reasonable price.
5) Got back to Portsmouth at an unearthly hour (actually not long after midnight, but I was so tired it felt much later) and found a taxi waiting at the station - I'd been worrying all the way home that I'd have to wait ages for one to turn up.
Today:
1) Had a very long lie-in - I just couldn't wake up, and figure my body needed some extra sleep - very nice too!
2) Washed the kitchen floor so it's no longer sticky from my elderflower cordial experiment earlier this week.
3) Tied up my tomato plants - it proves they're growing.
4) Had a chat on the phone with my mum about nothing very much in particular.
5) Roast beef for dinner. It's a rare treat as I can't often justify doing it just for me, but this joint was RTC so it didn't feel quite so indulgent.
Have a nice evening, everyone.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
Sparrer - Thanks, the garden was a big factor is choosing the house and I love just sitting on the patio watching the kids. And am even starting to like gardening!!
Mine for today:
1. A lie in, not for long but better than nothing!!!
2. Baked the bread rolls for the weeks lunches today. I am going to try to freeze them fresh and hopefully when they defrost they will still be fresh tasting!! As they do tend to get a bit dry after a day!
3. Made some cakes today. Used the weezles apple cake receipe but didnt have apples so put in choc chips and raisens instead!
4. Took ds1 to a birthday party. Spent 2 hours watching him run around with his school friends in the sun (mostly!!)
5. I clippered dh's hair today saving 7.00 and he cut a chunk off mine. I dont have time to do my hair anymore, it just gets put up in the morning so doesnt need to be even!!!
Thats all for me. Have a good evening all.0 -
Sorry its been a while since I posted, I haven't been feeling great and have been suffering bouts of the old anxiety again. Am feeling more like me today, though, so my pleasures are:
1. The bathroom is taking shape, tiling is at last done and OH has put on new taps and re-plumbed loo and sink. Just need the shower fixed now and some new flooring down before its finished.
2. A work colleague kindly collected all my Race for Life sponsorship for me while I am off work and posted it through the door today. She must have been very persuasive as usually it takes months to get teachers to pay up for anything!!
3. Spent a happy few hours in the park with the kids and a picnic. They are at an age (9 and almost 11) when they will soon not want swings and so on so I am enjoying their enthusiasm in such simple things while it lasts.
4. Managed to resist temptation in a shop selling Yankee Candles... they were half price but I reasoned I still don't really NEED them.
5. Hoping to spend a bit of time with OH tomorrow, have hardly seen him of late.
Ladyhawk: I really do hope your furbabe is on the mend. I know its not the same, but when one of my three chickens was off her food only for a few days I was so upset could think of little else. Give him a cuddle from me please!
Mollythewestie: A belated congratulations on the lottery win! Brilliant news.
CCP: I am so glad your grandmother seems loads better and hasn't lost her sense of humour!
Kitchenbunny: Well done on the bikini and having a lovely figure to put in it! I would need to find a garment with a considerable amount more fabric to cover all my "problem areas" lol!! Hope your headache is now gone.
Broomstick: I hope this week is a better one for you. At least those exams are out of the way now for your poor sons.
Night everyone.0 -
I'm going to try and think over 2 days.
Saturday
1) Went round to my neighbour's for a cup of tea and the boys played nicely with his sons.
2) Went to the contact centre so the boys could see their father and it wasn't too bad.
3) Had a good tidy of the garden and washed the patio down (everything has been getting so dusty).
4) My school friend came round for a chat.
5) The local Millennuim Green had its 10th birthday celebrations. Its right in the middle of the countryside with magnificent views. I think the festivities started in the early afternoon but we didn't get there til 9.30 which was the balloon part of the day. I thought they would be those tissue paper balloons but they were hot air balloons! One landed on the field then they showed us how you set the balloons up for take off (although they only took off again by 10cm because it was dark!)
There was a lovely firework display starting 10.30ish. We were there, and my school friend, neighbour and 3 of his sons, my mum, dad, brother and all sorts of people I hadn't seen for years like people from primary school or their parents.
Today
1) Had a lie in! The boys didn't go to bed til 11pm which is unheard of so didn't wake up til 9.30 - which is also unheard of!
2) Sister came round with some new pyjama trousers for me (I'd given her a Primark order since she lives nearer) and some sandals for the boys. I did some of her work paperwork in exchange.
3) Boys went to play football with next door's while I had a tidy up and watched bits of Wimbledon.
4) Went swimming with my brother and sister.
5) Made a tea out of bits and pieces, a bit like special fried rice. I chucked in: rice, half a jar of pasta sauce from the fridge, chopped carrot, celery, tomatoes and a handful of frozen peas. And some omelette. It was really nice!
6) Just winding down now before bed when I shall listen to the Archers Omnibus on iplayer.
Some less pleasant news - court tomorrow..... :-(0 -

Hope it goes well tomorrow ACEY, whatever comes up.
Here's mine for today -
1) DS's gf's stepdad came last night to share in the giant chicken. It's a long story but basically, she was coming to tea with us anyway and when she saw me turning the chicken over in the wine she said, "That's enormous. It's like an advert," so I asked if he wanted to join us because her Mum is in hospital and he would be eating on his own. (Did anybody understand that?) Anyway, because it was so last-minute we were all very relaxed and we had a lovely evening.
2) Sunday School this morning and it was a Very Big Day for the babies in creche who are going up to school in September, as they had a visit to Big Sunday School so that they could get used to it. Poor little things. They looked like startled rabbits most of the time but I think it went well. Sunday School is so MSE though - lost sheep name badges made of card and cotton wool, a story and juice and then games involving only a scarf for resources.
3) Lunch made from last night's left overs, allotment salad and some rice I found in the freezer.
4) Picked more strawberries before it rained and made 2 jars of jam while I was ironing. Felt really smug.
5) It's always soup for tea on Sunday, which came from last night's chicken stock and some bread I made myself use up. That's effect that coming back to MSE has had on me. I feel obliged to be more frugal.
Sneaky 6th - made myself go and forage some pine cones from the pavement outside a neighbour's house. They will go for either craft or kindling but I couldn't just leave them lying there.0 -
Evening everyone,
Thank you for your wishes for my boy. He has managed a small piece of cheese, 3 biscuits and 6 prawns today. It's not enough but it is more than he has had in a number of days, possibly even weeks. So maybe he is feeling a little better (wishful thinking). Ginger - he says "purrrrrrr" and thanks for the the cuddle!
1) Still enjoying the sunshine... could do with some rain though.
2) When I was working the in the garden yesterday three people who were walking past complemented me on my good work which was really nice.
3) Chatted to my mum on the phone
4) My friend L called this evening to find out how the furbabe is. She lost her cat a few weeks ago to cancer so was able to empathise with my concerns.
5) Yummy dinner tonight - it didn't look great and I didn't hold out much hope for it but it was delicious!
6) My kitchen is clean! well it was until I started cooking dinner. I must make sure its clean again before I head off to bed.
7) Bought more plants - 8 mange touts and 8 broccoli (I think... will the are brassicas of some type) another strawberry and tayberry bush. All for £3.50. I am not sure if the tayberry will survive though...
Night night.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
