Evening all. Hope your all well, happy, etc. :)

zarazara - ooh, a ladybird, lucky you! I've seen precisely one in my garden, too, opposed to several hundred aphids. :(

nuttybabe - good for you for your potential change of career to something you enjoy more. Even if it doesn't work out, it sounds like you're enjoying yur volunteering (and painting your hands purple ;)).

Patchwork Quilt - that's a real shame about the uneaten gooseberries. I always think it's such a waste when people have edible plants and then don't eat them.

mollythewestie - your poor dad, being assaulted by a ghost!

Ladyhawk - I hope your puddy tat's doing OK - fingers crossed for him and you.

sparrer - your story about your visitor reminds me of some friends of my mum's, who also share their house with a previous resident. He was a professional gardener and apparently always puts in an appearance when they change anything in the garden - I don't know if they've ever worked out whether he approves or not.

Acey - at your ex - he'll get his comeuppance one of these days, I'm sure. Good luck with your bank complaint - I really hope you get as good a result as you did last time.

    My five for today:

    1) NSD - the second in one week, which is a record for me at the moment.

    2) Wore my new blue trousers to work and they actually fit. The diet's working! :j

    3) Made my first ever batch of elderflower cordial. I don't know how it's going to come out as I didn't have enough white sugar and had to add some brown - it's made it an odd colour and I don't know what it will do to the taste. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. smiley-confused013.gif

    4) My nasturtiums at the front of my flat are all out in flower and scrambling prettily everywhere. Looks like I've finally found something that will grow in that bed. :D

    5) I've just spoken to my sister (while I was mid-post) and arranged that she'll pick me up from the station on Saturday to go and visit our grandmother in hospital. That saves me a two and a half hour drive and the hassle of finding somewhere to park at, or outside, the hospital. :)

    See you tomorrow, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

    Evening ladies (and gents?)

Hope your day has treated you well.

Brought the Furbabe home from the vet this evening. They still can't seem to find anything wrong with him and I am £200 poor for the pleasure! His white cell count is slightly elevated and he has some strange shadows on his lungs which they don't think look like cancer. Otherwise everything else is working fine. Very strange.

    1) Furbabe being passed fit... but he is still not eating... I hope the new tablets they have given him will start kicking in soon!

    2) Wander into town at lunch time with a collegue. Always nice to get out into the fresh air.

    3) Senior management were at the annual golf day so the rest of us turned up at work late and in very casual clothes. Everyone was also very chirpy which was nice.

    4) In my search for some tartaric acid this evening (still haven't got any an still have no clue where to buy it) I popped in to Mr A. I picked up over 1kg of raspberries for less than £3 so have spent the evening making raspberry jam. It's so easy! My kitchen in now covered in sticky red spots though.

    5) Am making some cupcakes for my friend's birthday tomorrow. I'm going round to see her tomorrow night so though I'd take her some jam and cakes. I was going to make some lemon cordial until I couldn't find the tartaric acid.

    6) A major tranche of a project I am working on was signed off today... what a relief as it looked a little touch and go for the last few days (people denying any knowledge of the project despite records of numerous emails to the contrary).

Right - I had better go and at least try to get the kitchen into some semblence of order and to feed the cat the pill he spat out earlier.

    Night all

    L

Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.

    5 for today:

    1) Got a letter saying I am entitled to £5 per week CSA. I have known that for 5 years but its a start!

    2) Another mum from school brought round a bag of stuff her sons have outgrown so I had a clear out of MY son's clothes.

    3) Watched my son's class doing The Gruffalo at school. It looked really professional and my son was... the Gruffalo!

    4) Picked lots of cherries which have been cooked a bit and are now cooling so I can put them in the freezer.

    5) Had a letter about a County Council grant thingy that I can apply for to help get the boys "experiences they wouldn't otherwise have" (It was worded better than that on the letter!) So I can have some money towards clubs/training. Its a bit weird to think that the Council imagine they just sit at home doing nothing! They have both done gymnastics and Beavers. Older son has done "Mad Science" and fencing and is on the waiting list to do drama at our local theatre. Anyway, its a lovely offer so I'll ask if they would mind contributing to Beavers or drama.

    6) Did Ironing Mountain whilst watching Holby City.

Apart from that.... legal wrangles are carrying on and my solicitor doesn't hold out much hope for next week. Apparently the ex's solicitors are being "very difficult". Not sure what that means but it doesn't sound good :-(

Evening everyone. I'm sat here counting my blessings while the house is cooling down as it is somewhat muggy tonight! Here's my pleasures for the day:

    1. A lay in. DH took me in to work today so I got a lay in. Yay for an extra half hour in bed.
    2. Finding 20p in front of a butty wagon. Nice!
    3. Going for a bike ride with friends. :)
    4. A No Spend Day! First in ages and I think I'm going to do well with my Grocery Challenge this month! :D *fingers crossed*
    5. Practising crochet. While the motorbike is something I'm planning to do, it is going to take a while. I need a new hook (a thinner one as the one I have is a 5.5mm one) and some different coloured yarns. When I get going, I'll take pictures and try to remember the pattern.

Night, everyone! I'm off for a bath to cool down a bit more. :) (((hugs))) to those in need and I hope things feel better tomorrow.

    my 5

    1. a nice lie-in, then woken at 9am by the furpets wanting to go out
    2 nsd
    3. Filled the basket I bought yesterday with blue and white trailing lobelia, then decided I didn't like it on the shed door so hammered a couple of nails in the garden wall and hung it there. I can see it from the kitchen window, it's going to be beautiful when it grows
    4. Had the car valeted, it was the sixth one (the company stamps a card every time I have it cleaned) so I got it done free instead of having to pay £10 :D
    5. Laying in bed listening to Phil Collins as I write this :o

    Night night sweet dreams

    Hi all

Thank you for yur replies and good wishes.

Feeling remarkably stressed by all the new things in my life and decided to drop some of the responsibilities. I am a bit down at the moment so I decided to come online to count my blessings (see, after all I shall still come here when the chips are down!).

Here are my blessings for the time being:

    1 - I am alive and well

2 - So is my family

3 - These days having a job (especially a job with great conditions of service) is something to be grateful for

4 - I decided to drop the fitness programme as it is too rigid, I shall lose a bit of money over it but gain time and peace of mind, which is more valuable (and will be an incentive to make better use of my extremely cheap local gym)

5 - This morning I am seeing someone to employ as a cleaner (same principle of exchange of money for time and peace of mind).

6 - Looking forward to going to the allotment to tie and feed the tomato plants

7 - The other day a lovely OS friend gave me loads of amazing fabrics to make morsbags (THANK YOU!) and today at long last I am having a meeting with my friend to make some.

8 - The job is part time and flexible, hopefully I shall manage to strike a good balance between working and living.

9 - I entered a lot of competitions to win tickets for the Vintage at Goodwood festival - but if I don't win, I still have a 20% off code!

    Love to all xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina - Glad to see you back so soon, but not that you are finding things so stressfull. (((HUGS))) to you, I hope things get easier now you have dropped some responsibilties. Also, you have reminded me to enter some competitions for the food festivals this summer, as I would like to go to at least one this year.
ACEY - Sorry to hear your ex is still playing silly beggers, hope he gets his comeuppance very soon.
zarazara - Well done to your DS for finding a new job

We have had the most fantastic news - DH has won £2345 on the lottery!!! I still don't quite believe it and thought someone was playing a joke on us, but apparently not! So it looks like our debts will be paid off far sooner than we thought. :j We were only doing our sums 2 days ago, working how much we need to pay to get rid of debts, and now we can be completely debt free in about 3 months :j .

Anyway, here are my OS pleasures for yesterday:
    - 1lbs weightloss.
    - Visit from my mum and dad, always a pleasure to catch up on the family gossip.
    - Had a super healthy tea of salmon fillet with vegetable cous cous.
    - Found out that some family will be visiting next week for DDs 1st birthday, so have started to plan a little buffet lunch and will try to make what I can from scratch.
    - Freebies in the post: 4 free nappies and £1 off pampers voucher for DD and a Clotted cream recipe book for me
    Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
    Debt free thanks to MSE

WOW, congrats Mr and Mrs MollyWestie on your lottery win :) What an unexpected delight, I may have to go and buy a ticket myself now and hope some of the amazing luck rubs off on me.

Wow molliewestie - well done !!!

savingforoz life does take over sometimes doesn't it, have a great trip and pop back when you can.

ACEY hope things get sorted for you hun.

Tealady How was Jack Johnson? I'm very jealous, It's always better when we're together is our family theme tune :)

Right sorry for not being around much, been VERY busy. DS has had so much on this week too. Here goes.

    1. Watching DS have fun at school this week. Teddy Bears Picnics, mini olympics and today they have an artist going in to help them make giant sculptures !!

    2. Just cleaned my porch, what a tip - I'm worn out but it looks fab.

    3. Have a weekend off from work - woohoo!!

    4. Planted a load of seeds this morning.

    5. Arranged some playdates with new friends for DS and making Mummy friends for me too!!

    6. Had a good laugh with my pal and her little boy yesterday. Apparently she caught her 5 year old dangling a toy squirrel over the garden fence in to next doors on the end of a bit of string on a very long stick. He told her he was trying to catch their cat :) what a loon.

    7. DS told me he is in love with J his little girlyfriend at school - bless, he then went on to told me he's also in love with I, C and C. Talk about spreading the love.

    Have a great day
    JM x
