Caterina - Hope you feel the pressures lift with the changes you have made
ZaraZara - Well done to your DS on the job
Nuttybabe - congratulations on the changes you are making in your career hope you enjoy the course
Pleasures for the last couple of days:
1. Seeing Jack Johnson is concert, really good night out with friend which included a lovely chinese dinner out which wasn't too expensive
2. Keeping up the healthy eating all this week and really enjoying what I have been having. Especially the baked cod with roasted veg plus the cod was YS and only cost pennies.
3. Dad's birthday so sent some Love2shop vouchers which had earnt doing surveys. He was happy as had a choice were to spend them and I saved some money
4. Tube of toothpaste in the post to trial, really good timing as was just about to buy more
5. Looking forward to spending some quality time with DD this weekend as OH is away playing golf. We are going to a concert tomorrow at Mercedes Benz - Will Young, Scouting for girls, the saturdays and alexandra burke. This one is definelty her choice. I feel I have had my social life for the year crammed into the last 2 weeks.
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Mollythewestie - congrats on the win! That's great, and reminds me I ought to buy a ticket too.
Tealady - I envy you. Jack Johnson really makes me feel mellow, so a concert would be amazing, I bet.
Jollymummy - We had to clean our porch recently. Didn't realise just how white the paint was underneath
Here's my pleasures for the day:
1. Not succumbing to buying a doughnut or Danish pastry on the station this morning.
2. Getting a good night's sleep. I didn't get enough, but boy was it good sleep
3. Both my DH and my Dad offering to give me a lift home when the train was cancelled. I felt really happy inside.
4. Washing my hair and realising I'm still using the bottles of shampoo and conditioner I bought on New Year's Day! I still have about a third of a bottle of conditioner left and a bit more shampoo.
5. Getting £5 of butcher's sausages from the market and getting 21 in the packI've split it down into 2 packs of 8 and 1 pack of 5 for the freezer. That'll be good for future barbecues!
6. I gave my Mum some packets of red pepper and sweet potato pasta sauce I had made and were just sitting in the freezer. She was over the moon.
7. When I was digging in the freezer, I found I'd still got 2 packs of chilli and a pack of chorizo and chicken spicy sauce in the freezer so there's a few meals left I didn't realise I had!
Well, apart from the train being cancelled on me, it hasn't been a bad day. I only spent the £5 on sausages which for me is a good day (especially at the market) and resisted temptation to buy more things. Have a lovely evening everyone.

Evening all

Molliethewestie - congrats on the win! Thats excellent!
Tealady - i just hope they can get me on the course!!!
Mine for today
1. Spent the morning up the school in meetings about dd starting reception and ds2 starting nursery. Dd will be in Upper Foundation which is brilliant, apparently she is really confident and outgoing in school. And I found out that the nursery teacher will be back from maternity leave in September so it will mean she will have taught all 3 of my kids. She is lovely and I am so pleased. Although all the teachers are great at the school. And she said when I get a job to speak to her to sort out wraparound for ds2 and I volunteered to help out with any nursery trips to the library as they had to stop them for dd's class as they didnt have enough adults to children ratio. So a busy morning for me!!!
2. Baked some bread. I set the timer on the bread machine to see if it worked and it did! yay! :T
3. Had a nap this afternoon. Still not sleeping right. Although being woken up at 2.30 by dh shouting its gone 3 was not good!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:
4. Making lots of buffet food this afternoon out of what was in the fridge/freezer for tea.
5. FAKEOUT night. Although buffet food rather than pizza!!!
Have a good evening all.0 -
Evening all.
mollythewestie - congrats on your lotter win - that's great news. :j
Kitchenbunny - WD on your sausage bargain. I love sausages, so I'm deeply envious of your haul!
Ladyhawk - that's good news of a kind about your puddy tat - I hope the tablets make him feel better and justify the cost of treatment (not that any of us would consider doing anything other than paying for it, of course).
My pleasures for today:
1) Wore my new trainers to work. They're very comfortable, and they're yellow (or at least have yellow trim).
2) Sorted out - at least temporarily - a problem with a colleague in another department who's developed a nasty habit of blaming me for everything that happens in my specialist area, even stuff in her department which I didn't even know about. This time she copied her complaints to several other people, so I did the same with my super-helpful response - the end result was that I got a flurry of thanks for being so helpful, and said colleague had to admit that she should have been doing what I suggested all along. Victory to me, I think! :rotfl:
3) Found that nearly everything on my shopping list was on special offer. :j
4) On the way out of the supermarket car park I managed to break the barrier by getting my ticket jammed in it.I was rescued by a very friendly and utterly charming Scouse lad, and we had a nice chat in the 10 minutes or so it took him to fix the barrier and release me and my car from captivity.
5) Finished my first ever batch of elderflower cordial and it's OK, although it doesn't taste of a great deal other than sugar. I've got three ice cube trays of it in the freezer, which should keep me going for a while.
Have a pleasant evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
1) Had my hair done. I go to the cheapest salon in town and the junior, who is a lovely girl, does it for me, so it costs about half what everywhere else charges.
2) Lunch of left overs with DS. I hardly see him now he's finished his GCSEs. He's either on the Xbox, in the park or at his girlfriend's house. He is looking for a job, by the way, but there aren't many in our small town.
3) Picked another two punnets of strawbs at the allotment. We're having Eton Mess tomorrow. I also brought some poppies home. I deliberately left all the lilac poppies that came through and there were enough out to have a bunch for the table.
4) DD came home from her trip and has been very frugal with her expenses.
5) Made some cherries in brandy. I think Tesco are used to me going in for their plastic bottle of value spirits by now.0 -
Well done for doing a stock take Caterina, sometimes our activities creep up on us and we need to do a bit of thinning out.
Lol at your DS jollymummy, he's learing early to play the field
I think the visitor has worn herself out for now Tealady, she's gone quiet again. It sounds like you're having a good musical week, and like you my pref would be Jack Jones but I admit to having a soft spot for Will Young
Kitchenbunny what a hero - refusing a doughnut and a Danish! That's real strength :T
Lol nuttybabe, setting the timer on the bm and it working - I've been meaning to try mine out for months but haven't in case it doesn't. How silly, they'd hardly put a timer on just for show. Dozy me
Well done on your victory at work CCP, don't you wish people would just keep their heads down and do their job? Good for you getting the record put straight.
I like your MS hairdo Patchwork, I go to the college and pay £7 rather than the £35-£40 the fancy-antsy ones want for a trim and blow dry. Hope your DS finds work soon

1 Mowed the lawn - took 3 goes with rest breaks and I still have to do the edges tomorrow but it's looking really neat, rather like the difference to the bedroom after you've made the bed
2. nsd
3. State and company pensions arrived at the same time, one's 4 weekly and the other calendar monthly and I love the rare time they coincide. I keep adding them together to gloat at the total - then decide a take away is just silly, I have to eat for the rest of the month too :rotfl:
4. Had an invitation to friends in Yorkshire at the end of August. I'm taking 4 DGC away at the beginning of Aug so I'll be putting away some of the pensions for both trips. It doesn't last long, does it?
5. Postie brought me a bright yellow tee shirt, XXL size. I don't mind but it's one I sent for (thank you freebie board) for DS before the World Cup, and it's got the three lions logo on it. I don't think he'll want it now so it's my new night shirt
Night night, sweet dreams

5 for today.
1) Cleaned all of upstairs including the bathroom.
2) Had an invitation to my sister's birthday party. Then my son had an invitation to his friend's party on the same day!
3) Took old clothes to the clothes recycling bin and better old clothes to the charity shop.
4) Smaller son enjoyed Beavers and older son and I went for a walk in the forest while he was there.
5) My neighbour came round for a cup of tea.
That's about it for today!0 -
Mine for the past couple of days are
1. the weather - I love the heat
2. Both DS doing some work for my sister and working really hard without breaks clearing her garden.
3. Had a lovely meal with friends and caught up with all the gossip.
4. Strawberries from the garden.
5. NSD0 -
1) Lying-in. I do appreciate having teenagers.
2) Brunch at the local supermarket. It's pretty cheap and we get to sit round a table and talk whilst somebody else does the cooking and cleaning up.
3) DS's girlfriend showed me how to do sticky notes on the laptop. I'm so behind the times. She has also given DS a laptop she found under her bed, so he is in the process of updating all the software so that he can use it. I couldn't believe they had one just hanging around but apparently they got it free with something else and never needed to use it. He is very pleased, as you can imagine.
4) Bagged a yellow-stickered chicken and a cheap bottle of wine for tonight's meal. Coq-au-vin and allotment strawberries for afters.
5) Coffee date with DH in a few minutes.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.0 -
Afternoon all.
Not much pleasure today as my beloved furbabe has not been seen since yesterday morning when I forced fed him his tablets. I have been calling for him on and off through the day but he'd not coming. I have check under the bushes of my garden to see if was hiding but no luck. So I am feeling very sad and worried today. I don't want him to die alone.
One small pleasure from yesterday - found £20 on the floor of a black cab after a night out.
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
