Hi all
I have come in to say that you won't see me very frequently here anymore because since I started work I find that when I come home the last thing I feel like doing is go on the computer, as I spend all day three times per week on one.
I shall pop in as often as I can but I am not sure I shall be able to do it as regularly as before, so I wanted to let you all know because I know that you are all such kind and considerate people and when you do not see a regular poster you get concerned about their well being. I would not want to worry you!
I am not losing the habit of being thankful for the blessings I receive, though! I always think about the good things in my life and I give thanks, in the evening, before I go to sleep.
However, while I am here, I am posting a few random blessings from the last few days:
1 - The allotment is nearly all sorted, thanks to DH's hard work and to the generosity of the people who gave us lots of spare plants.
2 - Work is hard but very interesting.
3 - Watching a red cloudy sky after sunset as I type.
4 - The blessing of having a loving family.
5 - The blessing of having loving friends, including all of you here (((((COLLECTIVE HUG)))))
6 - Pasta with sauteed cauliflower in wine, garlic and olive sauce for dinner YUMMY!
7 - Free dance show ticket for tomorrow morning, going with DD.
8 - A welcoming, comfortable bed waiting for me in the next few minutes GOOD NIGHT!!!
Love and hugs to all xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Just a couple of quick extra pleasures:
7) One I forgot in my earlier post - I received my freebie soaps, and none of them was lavender scented. :j They look lovely and I'm quite looking forward to running out of soap so I can start using them.
8) Heard from my mum that my grandmother has made a miraculous recovery, and is sitting up in her hospital bed, eating, talking non-stop, and generally annoying the hard-working hospital staff. Pretty much back to her usual self, in fact.(No, I don't take after my grandmother in any way at all...
)
Caterina - I'm glad to know you're enjoying your job, even if you are getting sick of the sight of a computer.I look forward to reading your posts when you can make them.
Have a pleasant evening / night, everyone - I'm off to bed with a lighter heart after pleasure 8.Back after a very long break!0 -
5 for today!
1) Spent a while looking for my mum and brother in the crowds at Wimbledon (they were in court 1).
2) Started a new complaint against HSBC with the Financial Ombudsman after the very positive outcome from my last complaint.
3) Went strawberry picking after school.
4) Topped up the oil in my car and spent a nice few minutes in the sunshine showing my younger son all the different parts of the engine.
5) Something funny happened at the strawberry field. Smaller son and I were paying for our strawberries and the 2 sons of the farmer (in their 20's) were jumping around shouting that Federer was out and they wanted to rig the television back up in the shed. I was just saying to the farmer "Oh, my brother is at Wimbledon today". The 2 lads said (to each other) "George is there today" "Who...?" "You know, Big George". I said "My brother, George????" and they looked very confused! He is 6 foot 5, very thin and I'm 5 foot 7 and not very thin. And he's 9 years younger than me! Turns out we were all talking about the same George and they play tennis with him. I had to chortle on the drive home that he is known as Big George!
On the less positive side, the ex did not go to court for fraud but has been driving past here, waving. Not terribly ill, then. And I had 2 solicitors letters saying that unsupervised contact between he and the boys will probably start after court next week...0 -
I.m sure know who the culprit is CCP, appears from time to time, perfectly harmless and you're right, I think a bit of a tease. Lol at your No 2, couldn't agree more. Thinking of you and your grandmother, will say one for her tonight. Oh, just read your last, so pleased she's feeling better
. Will say one that she continues to improve
nuttybabe clafouti is a French dish of black cherries in a heavy batter so it turns out like a cross between a very thick pancake and a Yorkshire pud. It's really delish with fromage frais or ice cream. Making my mouth water now . I tend not to talk too much about my visitor but see below, while I'm very open minded about this sort of thing. I do understand the skeptics point of view
I am so sorry about the ex causing problems again ACEY but what goes around comes around...he'll get his just rewards for all the trouble he's making..
You take care savingforoz, we'll all be thinking of you :A
mollie sorry to hear your resident wasn't happy, I'm very lucky with mine. She's the late partner of the person who lived in the house before me, he's moved away but for some reason she's stayed. Possibly because she was happy here, and knows I don't mean her any harm. I described her to my neighbour once and she asked if I'd found a photo of her, but in fact I'd I seen her walk up the stairs and go into the bathroom. It was after I'd stopped drinking, in the daytime and I'm not the only one to have seen her so not a dream or whatever. Just occasionally she'll move something and I'll find it some time later, like a book I bought for someone one Christmas, went to wrap it and it wasn't on the coffee table where I'd put it. It turned up 5 months later, on that coffee table. As CCP said, she teases but it's all innocent and harmless. Now I won't say any more because half of you are already thinking I'm completely mad!
Wow, a motorbike kitchenbunny, how clever you are. I tried to crochet but gave up after several attempts. perhaps now I'm older I might have more patience but don't think I'd ever aspire to something as different as a motorbike. I'll be interested to hear how it turns out
Caterina take care and hope everything stays as positive for you as it is now.
My 5
1. The weather, it's still beautiful and still no rain here
2. Went out with a friend to a garden centre. I really shouldn't! Got one or two bargain plants...and one or two not so bargainous planters
3. Friend paid for lunch at the garden centres shiny new coffee shop. It was delish, hope they keep up the standard as it's not too far away for an occasional lunch out
4. Postie didn't bring me anything (I'll be having words with her) but I got yet another charity bag to fill. Don't know whether to be pleased that I don't have to buy bin liners, or cross because it's contributing to an oil shortage
5. Nice evening out at my fellowship, lots of laughs as usual
Sneaking in a 6th - so looking forward to a lie-in in the morning, the first for a week :T
Night night, sleep tight

Evening all,
Hope you are well.
Thanks again for the kind thoughts for my furbabe. Fingers crossed that they can get him to eat tomorrow after they have finished poking and prodding him.
So... the date... he was exceptionally nice (and paid for dinner) but I just didn't feel much of a spark. Yes he would stand up to me (which is a good thing) but I wasn't attracted to him whatsoever. Next thing is how to break that to him? Oh well in the cold light of day I hope that he will realise that we are not meant to be and won't text or call me...
1) Furbabe is still affectionate despite not eating anything properly for more than a week.
2) My lovely colleague giving me a lift to work today as I was heading into London straight after lunch
3) Invited to have drinks with some old friends who live in Sheffield who are about to disappear off to Ecuador for an indeterminate length of time.
4) Having a bit of a laugh in the office this afternoon with our Comms team.
5) Falling asleep on the train home and waking up 2 stops before mine!
Nighty night
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Caterina - Hope you can find the time to come and see us from time to time, as your posts will be missed
.
sparrer - Your resident sounds lovely if slightly mischievous and I don't think you sound mad at all :rotfl:. Our resident was, we think, the former tenant who was an old lady when she died, but had lived in the house for over 40 years. Although she was a nice lady according to neighbours, the house had a feeling of sadness over it. There was a constant feeling of being watched in certain rooms (many people commented on this), things brushing up against you, crockery and cutlery crashing about at night (what is it with cutlery I wonder?!) and even shadowy figures. I have many spooky stories about that house the best one involved my dad having his bum pinched eventhough he was in the house alone :rotfl::eek:
My pleasures for yesterday:
- Checking the bank and realising we had more money left than I thought after holidays and a few unexpected bills. We should be able to clear all the extra money spent on the Credit Card by the end of July too.
- A cobbled together tea of vegetable risotto with bits of sad looking veg, it tasted lovely though.
- Watching DD splashing about in the bath and having a great time.
- Having a chance to catch up with some recorded TV programmes.
- DH helping me out in the kitchen when I had a million things on the go :AValue of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0 -
I didn't believe in ghosts until I heard one whispering in our last house. Then it tried to float through the hedge! I went straight to the local Vicar to have it exorcised, I'm afraid, even though I wondered if he would think I was mad. Actually, he took me very seriously and I felt better after he'd been. It was our house and I wasn't going to share it with the past.
After that strange memory, some blessings -
1) Made 2 big and 5 tiny jars of strawberry jam yesterday. The tiny little jam pots saved for me by our local cafe are going to come in useful, I can see.
2) Evening out at the local Kashmiri curry house. Seemed like a long time since the last one.
3) Got some wool in Oxfam this morning for a Christmas present I would like to crochet. Our school is holding a Christmas Craft Fair too, which started me thinking.
4) Planted four gooseberry bushes this afternoon. Unfortunately, I drive past our old house (the one with the ghost) every day and the gooseberry bush there is dripping with fruit. I'm very tempted to go and knock to see if they would let me have some as I left a note of what was edible and it doesn't look like they pick anything.
5) Paid a chunk off the credit card, which has had a bit of a battering with MOTs etc0 -
Evening all
Gosh, alot of you have 'visitors'!! Whilst I do believe, I so wouldnt want to experience anything like it!!!!Very interesting hearing about all yours though.
Mine for today
1. Toddler group this morning and we did hand painting. Although I think the purple paint should have a warning on as I still have a purple hand!!! None of the kids were stupid enough to do it, just me!!!! :rotfl:
2. Had my supervision for my volunteering today. They are going to look into getting me on a childcare level 2 course and a counciling course as they now want me to 'support' the parents and i have to research the craft activities as they have to meet certain standards for learning and I need to come up with the craft and how it will help the kids learn!! So all good, more responsibitily and maybe more courses and a change of career!!!!Much more interesting than being an accountant!!!
3. Under 5's cooking. We made puff pastry pizzas. And they were really nice (I had to try them obviously!!!)
4. Family seal. we were the only family to turn up so it meant I could help ds2 and the teacher and chef could help ds1 and dd. We made pitta bread and greek salad. It was very nice and I even made one for myself! yummy!
5. Kids had their own cooking for tea so I put whoospie steak in slow cooker with a glug (or 2) of red wine for dh and me which I would have had with my greek salad but I ate that as soon as we got home from school!!! :rotfl:
Have a good evening everyone.0 -
1. I found a Ladybird in the garden Go Bird Go! eat those Aphids
2. Planted some mustard [as in mustard and cress]
3.DS1 found a job locally!
4.DH is just the Best in the Whole World
5. Being able to post on here and "talk" to you lot.
AND ITS RAINING----YIPEEEEEEE"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0 -
