Morning
Pleasures for yesterday:
1. Lovely lunch of prawn salad plus a chicken salad for dinner. It was too hot for anything else.
2. Lovely chat with my parents on the phone, looking forward to seeing them in a few weeks
3. Being able to fix a problem at work on my own without having to ask for help:j
4. More vouchers on the way for completing a survey, only £3 but the vouchers are starting to add up
5. Call from a friend inviting me to see Jack Johnson in Concert with her on Wednesday
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Morning all!
I am back after a lovely holiday in France and a week of daytrips and pottering around the house/garden. I now feel so refreshed and relaxed.
I have tried to catch up with everyones news, but there are just too many pages to read, so I apologise for just jumping straight back in!
Here are some pleasures from the last few weeks while I was away:
- Seeing DHs parents and other family in France and spending lots of quality time together.
- DH didn't turn on his phone or check his his emails for over a fortnight . He never switches off from work normally, so it was nice to get him all to our selves for a while!
- Visiting lots of local markets and trying lots of new food.
- Bringing back a box full of new ingrediants and yummy things to try. DH's aunt recommended French bread flour as making a better loaf than english flour, so I am going to give it a go.
- Taking DD to the beach for the first time. She was a little apprehensive of the sand at first, but soon got stuck into helping with sandcastle building!
- Long cool evenings walking along the coast with DH, whilst DD was being looked after by her adoring grandparents.
- My dad giving me some pepper and chilli plants from his greenhouse, they are enormous and have lots of little peppers on already.
- Not watching any TV for at least 10 days.
- Reading a lot. I finished Antonia Frasers - Charles II part 1, which I loved and I am currently reading the complete Poirot short story collection (all 50 of them!)
...I think I will stop there, as I could go on and on!
I hope everyone is well, and (((hugs))) to anyone who needs one. I saw some new faces while reading back, so a big welcome to all the newbies too.Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

My 5 for today:-
1) Finally getting around to slicing and freezing 3lb box of mushrooms bought for £1 at the weekend.
2) Pottering in the garden and bringing in a good handful of lovely sun warmed and ripened strawberries (before the blackbirds and the dog could get at them)
3) Looking through the pile of freebie paperbacks a friend bought around last night.
4) Unpacking the latest AF delivery and wondering where I am going to store 3 x 5 lt containers of white vinegar!
5) Eating some of those strawberries with the freebie squirty cream (from the freebie board) when dh gets home! Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

catznine: please what is AF where your delivery came from? (Am I being thick?!)
mollyhtewestie: your holiday sounds GORGEOUS, esp. the bit about strolling on beaches in the evening with OH. Wish my kids had doting grandparents to allow a bit of that sort of freedom!
Tealady: Well done on solving the problem by yourself. Please which survey sites do you find best? I might give them a go... And thanks for the comment re.Race for life, it was great fun! I am just keeping my fingers crossed I don't need any more of the help I was raising money for...
Patchwork Quilt: I LOVED the image of the babies next door peeping through the fence, like a scene from a Shirley Hughes book!
Saving for Oz: Very impressed by your gym activity! Puts my strolling round the field to shame, lol
CCP: thanks re. RFLife, it was great fun and now I have to train for next year so I can jog all the way round....gulp!
Ladyhawk: I am so very sorry to hear about your poor furbabe. That must be so worrying and distressing. I hope things don't turn out to be as bad as you fear...
Too early to say what mine are for today so I will be back later if I can...0 -
Evening everyone,
Just back from the vet and he has finally accepted that there is something wrong with Furbabe1... he just is so sad that it is heartbreaking. Anyway he is booked in again on Thursday for bloods and x-rays, so we'll go from there.
1) Having a yummy lunch today - HM rolls, tuna salad and another salad with loads of different ingredients including chickpeas and sweetcorn... YUM. This was followed by fresh pineapple.
2) Walking into town with a colleague to pick up a few things from Wilkos. He and I get on very well so it was nice to have a chat.
3) One of the admin girls made some yummy cupcakes for us
4) The rain this morning for my very parched garden.
5) I am going to make a stirfry a little later on with leeks from my garden. It will be the first one that I have harvested which is rather exciting!
Night all. Might not post tomorrow evening as a have a date with a new man....
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
My five for the last couple of days are
1. My shop at Tescos cost less than I had anticipated.
2. Rhubarb and a book left by my Mum.
3. HM lasagna for tea last night with salad.
4. Took lunch to work with me - salad some of which is homegrown.
5. Best one is last DS1 has finished A levels. We can all relax now for the summer until the results.0 -
Good evening everyone
Mine for today
1. Kids all ate breakfast and got ready on time this morning without (much) nagging!!!
2. Cleaned kitchen and did ironing
3. Changed all the beds and sprayed lavender around and cleaned the bathroom
4. Last half of cheesecake for tea. It was made from quark so not too unhealthy!!!
5. Played lots of board games with the kids today. Ds2 is started to get quite good with his counting and dd was playing junior monopoly quite well.
Have a good one!0 -
Not really much to report for the past day or so as I've just been wilting, beginning to find the weather oppressive - but not complaining! Nebs and inhalers working overtime, thank you NHS
nuttybabe your mention of cherries reminded me of clafouti, I'm looking forward to seeing them on the market stalls shortly.
Ladyhawk my visitor has been behaving herself for the past couple of days, she has phases of playing (harmless) tricks but this is the first time she's taken anything out of the house. I understand some people's skepticism so will just say I do know 'who' the culprit is! Hope your date goes well tomorrow
I have everything x'd that the vet will come up with a successful solution for your little furbabe :A.
CCP I'm pretty sure it's not the dog, he couldn't reach the kitchen drawers
Welcome back mollie, sounds like you've had a really good holiday. I'm envious as I'm a bit of a francophile, have a wee gite in the Lot region but don't get there these days. The week at home sounds lovely and restful, pottering is a lovely thing to do
I keep my 5 litres of white vinegar in the shed catznine, and decant into a smaller plastic bottle to keep in the house. I'm amazed at how often I have to refill it though so your bulk buy is much more sensible
my 5
1. Yesterday postie brought me a cheque for £33 from a survey site.
2. Today she brought me a can of deodorant to trial (is that in case I get over-excited about the above? :rotfl:)
3. Two nsd's
4. It's looking very heavy and overcast atm so I'm hoping for a downpour. We've not had one here for a week or more and the ground is beginning to crack
5. A friend gave me some stocks yesterday, the scent in the lounge is beautiful
Night night, sweet dreams

Evening all.
sparrer - hmm, that would be a clever dog to get the cutlery out of the drawer, wouldn't it?You obviously have a pretty clear idea of who/what the culprit is - it sounds like she's teasing you.
villagelife - WD to your DS1 for finishing his A Levels. I hope he gets the results he wants / needs.
Ladyhawk - I hope Thursday's tests show up something fixable with your poor furbabe. And I hope tomorrow's date goes well for you.
mollythewestie - it's good to see you back - it sounds like you had a fantastic time.
Tealady - hope you enjoy the concert tomorrow.
Broomstick - a while ago we had the eggy bread fan club - it looks like we'll have to start an elderflower cordial fan club now.
My pleasures for today:
1) I woke up to rain this morning, so my garden is looking much fresher for having a refreshing shower.
2) Had a very silly 10 minutes with colleagues throwing paper aeroplanes round the meeting room. (The meeting was about the hated new 'sickness management' policy, so we decided that, if they're going to treat us like naughty kids, we're going to act like them.)
3) Bought a bread roll for lunch, and found at the first bite that it was still warm in the middle.
4) Found that I'm further ahead on my studying than I thought, and should actually finish the course on schedule. :j
5) Omelette for dinner. I don't have omelettes very often and am always surprised at how good they taste.
Have a nice evening, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
