Comments
-
My five for yesterday are
1. The weather sunny and hot and a weekend!
2. Friends BBQ so we all sat , talked, ate and drunk - very relaxing. The couscous salad I took was also made on Saturday so no cooking involved for me.
3. Made yet more elderflower cordial - I love it.
4. Seeing my veg plants grow.
5. A NSD0 -
Afternoon
Been a very busy but lovely weekend with lots of pleasures so here are a few in random order:
1. DD had an induction day at college (as she is going one day a week next year as part of GCSE's ) and loved it. She normally doesn't like anything school related too much so this is great news.
2. We got to see Roger Federer play on Centre Court on Fridayplus some good doubles tennis
3. Saturday we saw lots of good tennis on the outer courts at Wimbledon and DD got lots of players autographs so she was happy
4. Beautiful weather all weekend so could enjoy things outdoors and I didn't get burnt this time;)
5. BBQ with friends on Sunday, lovely food, lovely food and a few glasses of wine. Even is the football was rubbish we had a great day.
Jexy - Good to see you are still around, hope you are keeping well
Ladyhawk - Concert on friday sounds really good
Ginger Snap - Well done on the Race for Life. An amazing achievement after all you have been through. Hope you continue to stay healthy
Hugs to all who need them0 -
Evening all
Mine for today
1. Another hot sunny day with the kids playing outside
2. Cleaned the kitchen and went through the cupboard under the stairs finally :j
3. Hoover all downstairs and sorted out the ironing ready for tomorrow and did 3 loads of washing
4. Made a cherry cheesecake with cherries that dh bought quite some time ago and am really fed up with seeing in the freezer, it was lovely as well. Ds1 gave me a hug for making it!!!
5. My healthy eating trainer who I lost weight with last year phoned to say she had just driven past me and I look like I have kept the weight off. And she is just trying to organise for the paper to do a story on my weight loss!!!
Have a good one everyone0 -
Hi all
jexy it's good to hear from you
Yesterday
1) spending an hour in bed reading before dd woke up
2) cuddles from dd
3) dd reading her school books to me
4) having a bbq after the footie
5) enjoying Pimms and ginger with all the trimmings
6) Top Gear
Today
1) breakfast in bed
2) cuddles from dd
3) another sunny day
4) treating myself and work friend at Costa Coffee, I had an iced vanilla latte and a slice of Victoria sponge cake
5) time flying as lots to do today"We have to be kind because everyone is fighting a great, great battle" - Sir Richard Attenborough
"There is a special place in hell for women who don't help other women" - Madeleine Albright0 -
ARGH!!! I had written comments to everyone and then my 'puter froze. Grrrr!!!
Suffice to say well done to those who have kept weight off, those who have done the Walk for life and a special mention to Sparrer and her poltergeist.
1) Hopefully just missed a speed camera... fingers crossed.
2) Home on time! Whoop!
3) An hour pottering in the garden and staking my veggies - my garden now looks like I am trying to grow bamboo canes!
4) Wander into town with a lovely collegue at lunch time.
5) Picked a perfect strawberry from my garden.
My poor furbabe is going back to the vet tomorrow as he has stopped eating again. I have a nasty feeling that it might be expensive and terminal
Anyway... better sign off before I lose this one as well!

4)Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Great news about the weight loss lady, nuttybabe!
Sorry to hear about the poorly furbabe, Ladyhawk. Will be hoping for the best for you and puss.
My 5 for today:
1. Short day at work - I leave at 2.30pm on Mondays.
2. Trying out a yoga/pilates class at the gym. I may well do that again. Did a cardio session as well.
3. Getting all my contacts imported into Outlook and setting up my RSS feeds. All seems to be working fine now.
4. Yummy felafel burger for tea with veg. Plus some of my leftover peanut stew for lunch, with pitta - very tasty.
5. Having a good morning at work and cracking on with a job that I wanted to get out of the way.
Right, all this exercise combined with the heat is making me sleepy. Off to bed. Nighty night.Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Evening, all.
savingforoz - your peanut stew sounds lovely, and reminds me of a spicy sweet potato and peanut stew I used to make quite regularly. I'd love to have it again - now, what did I do with that recipe?
Ladyhawk - hugs to you and your poor puddy tat. I can only hope it's not as bad as you think it's going to be. And, from yesterday, no I wasn't complaining about listening to Muse, though watching them (or at least the lovely Matt Bellamy) would have been better still.
nuttybabe - well done you on your weightloss, and keeping it off, too. It's a bit unfair of you to mention cheesecake, though - I'm trying to lose weight at the moment and I love cheesecake (despite the inevitable results from eating cheesecake when I'm lactose intolerant). It sounds scrummy, though.
villagelife - I'm going to have my first attempt at elderflower cordial later this week, so it's good to know someone on here has made it successfully. Fingers crossed mine comes out OK.
sparrer - it's probably a silly idea, but it couldn't be the dog moving your cutlery while you're not looking, could it? I can't think why a dog would start stealing cutlery, but who knows what an animal might think to do for mischief?
ACEY - LOL at your bigger son with his leg bone microphone, and good on your younger son for getting so good at talking to people. :T
jollymummy - good luck with your elderflower cordial - hope it goes well (I'm taking a new interest in the stuff as I'm trying it myself soon). I'd be interested to know how your chilli jam goes, too, as I rather fancy trying to make some as a birthday or Christmas present for my dad this year.
Ginger Snap - very well done on doing the Race for Life. :T:T:T
jexy - it's nice to know you're still around - hope you can pop back in and let us know how you and the girls are getting on, when you have a bit of time.
My five for today:
1) Another nice, sunny day. (Although it got very windy this evening in Portsmouth - I gave up trying to study outside when the first few pages of my notes sailed off towards Hayling Island.)
2) Had the first of my HG blackcurrants for breakfast this morning.
3) NSD.
4) I couldn't have the aubergine curry I'd planned for dinner tonight as my aubergine had grown a fur coat. The chorizo and chickpea stew I threw together instead was a pretty tasty substitute, though, and there's plenty left for tomorrow's lunch.
5) One of my chilli plants has its first flower.
See you tomorrow, peeps!Back after a very long break!0 -
CCP I'm intending to have a go at elderflower cordial too. I ordered some extra lemons in tomorrow's vegbox to make it with. I keep seeing elderflower in the hedgerows and just need to find somewhere away from the roads to pick some that has been growing at a distance from traffic.
Anyway, five pleasures for today:
1. Tons of billowing washing done and dried and a clean bed that smells beautiful for tonight.
2. Loads of cooking including a rhubarb and ginger crumble made with the rhubarb DS1's gf brought round at the weekend.
3. A big pan of end-of-week/use-up-the-veg soup with tomatoes and basil that will do for tomorrows lunch.
4. DS2 discovered some orange carrots and one yellow one that had sprouted in one of the crates we moved from our old house. We hadn't replanted the box and the carrots had germinated a year late so he picked them for his lunch and gave me a taste too.
5. Am cheating a bit but I know this is about to be a pleasure. Am going to snuggle up in an armchair for 60 mins of the BBC4 programme about Joyce Grenfell on iplayer.
Sweet dreams everyone.
B x0 -
1) Work has managed to stumble through the financial year and we all have our contracts for next year, which is fantastic. However, there is a pay cut for all staff in order to balance the books, which was a surprise, but it's better than losing anybody.
2) Left over curry juice and rice for lunch. I just can't waste the sauce. It's too tasty and it was a 'free' meal.
3) Another bowl of strawberries picked from the garden. The babies next door were peeping through the hedge at the bottom of the garden and asking for more but their Mum swept them inside before I gave in.
4) Quick visit to a friend who had a small operation today. She's chirpy and she's walking around so I'm happy. I recycled some magazines in her direction, which pleased both of us.
5) Finding enough change in my purse for lunches tomorrow for DD and DS. Made a pack-up for DH and me, which is not my favourite job, but probably saved £4.0 -
Evening all
Must go to bed soon. Here goes.
1. NSD
2. got loads of washing dry on the line.
3. had a bit of a chill out day interspersed with chores while DS was at school - I usually do this on the mondaywhen I've worked over the weekend.
4. went up to allotment and planted some leeks my friend gave me.
5. It's raining, thank goodness as the allotment is pretty dry and it means the garden doesn't need watering!!
