    Evening all.

sparrer - I'm really sorry to hear about your friend. My thoughts are with him.

Ladyhawk - I'm always dragging bargain plants back to the office, too. I've got so many plants now that it takes me ages to water them, but I still keep spotting gaps I could squeeze 'just one more' in. ;)

Kitchenbunny - well done on your sweepstake win. :T I was on holiday when our office did one, so I didn't get a team. :(

Acey - hope the contact visit today went OK.

I've had another pretty lousy day at work (by 10.30 I was asking if it was too early to start drinking - joking, of course!), but I'm determined to think of five nice things:

    1) Another nice sunny day, after a slightly soggy start. I was hoping it would rain as my plants need a good drink but, as I've still got a hole in my front door, dry weather's probably better.

    2) Arranging a meeting with my line-manager to find ways of dealing with the department that's giving me so much grief. So far she's vetoed the idea of threatening them with a lethal weapon, sadly. :p

    3) Had a chat on the phone with my mum.

    4) Every time I look at my tomato plants I see more mini tomatoes. :j

    5) I treated myself to a new pair of trousers for work, but I've tried them on and they don't fit. That's a bit of extra money when I take them back, anyway.

    Have a nice evening, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

Thanks for thinking about me - the contact did go OK today.

    Here's my 5:

    1) Felt a bit under the weather so stayed at home. Did all sorts of odd jobs including writing to the CSA (again) and writing to my MP about the CSA not doing anything despite his writing too...

    2) Mum came round this afternoon and I did an home insurance quote for her (moneysupermarket.com and quidco) and managed to knock LOADS off the price she had been quoted.

    3) Went for a very fast, stompy walk at the time I would usually pick the boys up from school. It had stopped raining.

    4) Made myself fish pie for tea with carrots and courgette.

    5) Going to go to bed shortly and listen to I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue on the iplayer.

    Heyy..

Not a very good day today..

Didn't get to sleep til 3am, woken up by assistant manager ringing to tell me she wasn't going into work at 7:30am, I wasn't due to start til 10:30 and didn't even need anything. I'll try my best though.

    1) Lovely weather, not too hot, not too cold :)
    2) Did some more decluttering.
    3) Found some chicken stuff at bottom of freezer (poppets, strips etc), can only assume OH brought them and forgot about them :) Mmmm first tea I've eaten in a long time without considering cost.
    4) Had a nice little talk with girl I met in town on Saturday :) Happens to be the nicest girl I've met in a few years!
    5) .... I think there's ice cream in the fridge?

I said I'd try... Not very MSE today...

  • Ladyhawk the recipe I have is for a slow cooker. I make it in a 2 pt Pyrex dish, covered with foil, and pour in boiling water half way up, so the effect is the same. It's on for 2-3 hours, depending on the amount of juice in the lemons and the size of the eggs.

The recipe is 1 lb sugar, juice of 4 lemons, 4 eggs and 4 oz butter. Melt the butter and whizz everything else in with a hand mixer. Pour through a strainer to get the stringy bits of egg and into the Pyrex bowl. Cover the bowl and proceed as above.

Of course, the real recipe calls for heating things gently before you put them in the slow cooker etc but this always works for me.

    Anyway -

    1) Got up early enough to put a chilli in the slow cooker before work.
    2) Traffic was light so I was sitting on the edge of my seat looking as if I was awake when everyone else was still coming in for the Monday morning meeting.
    3) Random lunch from the freezer. Trying to use things up and it turned out to be curry and fried rice from a 'takeaway' bag we had ages ago.
    4) My £10 suit from the charity shop. It's originally from an exclusive local shop and looks just the part for work.
    5) A bowl of our strawberries as I am sitting and reading through the MSE forums.

I know. Luckily it's not a big hole, so I've currently got a plastic bag sellotaped over it to keep out the rain - very stylish! ;)

Acey - I'm glad the contact went OK. Good luck with getting the CSA to co-operate.

Oooops!!! all behind again.....nothing new there. Very distracting fortnight. We found a stray bunny in the garden last week and we got very attached to him..so did our dogs, then after three days, his owner claimed him. However I have had some lovely blessings. Firstly HUGS to all those who need them with worries of whatever kind (((hug))))

Here are mine for the last little while:-
    1) My lovely DH bought me another bunny, he's soooo gorgeous. I had one when I was a young girl and our little stray rekindled the memory. Great free fertlizer for my plants as well.
    2) A lovely picnic in the weekend sunshine at our local lakes with DH, DS1, his partner and our grandson. Then we had a nice walk with our dogs.
    3) Followed by an evening barbeque and much fun for our grandson playing with the new bunny and our 2 dogs in the garden.
    4) DS2 and his partner have arrived home safely from their holiday and really enjoyed themselves. Hope to be going to visit them in the next week or two.
    5) Everything in the veggie plot is really growing now and we are able to supplement our grocery shopping quite a bit. Hopefully bunny won't eat us out of herbs and home!! He has taken quite a liking to my Basil, Coriander and Callendula, bless him.

    Hi All,

Hope everyone is well. I had a product tasting today so can hardly move! For a change nearly everything we tried was edible and in fact most of it was really good which certainly is unusual. Rhis was certainly an improvement on my day which started with one of our chefs phoning me at 5.45am to whinge... he's just lucky that I couldn't find my phone in time otherwise he would have heard a side of me that I don't particularly like!

    1) Lots of yummy food today including loads of gorgeous ice cream:drool:

    2) Home earlyish at 5.20pm

    3) A nap when got home - with all that food I was really sleepy!

    4) Was able to bring home a few samples - yummy cheese being the highlight!

    5) Rain for the garden... my friend in Cananda sent me photos of his garden this afternoon and it made me realise how brown and parched mine is looking.

    Night all.

    Sleep well

    Evenng,

    Pleasures for today:
    1. Someone at work brought cakes in for their birthday and I only had a tiny corner of a piece of carrot cake, even though really wanted a large piece:A
    2. Found out someone can't make it to the party we are having next week for parents. I know this sounds mean to put it in pleasures but she has a history of causing a scene so one less worry for the day. Just got to work out how to get parents there:eek::eek:I'm not panicking about it really
    3. DD's progress report from school and all seems to be going well. She struggles with school but its getting there with the right help
    4. Received another box of cereal in the post to trial, as eating cereal every morning at the moment this is all good
    5. Having 15 minutes of the Wii with DD and her being really pleased that she had put on weight. :rotfl::rotfl:I wouldn't have been pleased if I had put on weight

Hugs to all who need them. Sparrer, thinking of you and your friend
