  • 1) Opened a pot of home made blackberry jam this morning that I made in 2007. It was perfectly all right.
    2) The risotto I found in the freezer was a nice lunch too. There's one more for tomorrow.
    3) The veg my next door allotment neighbour gave me. Fresh broccoli and courgette. It was historic. In fact, I never knew that courgettes could actually taste of something.
    4) A quick snooze after work. I had to go back again later and I was whacked, so I made myself lie in a darkened room for half an hour to refresh. I didn't want to drive while I was tired.
    5) Sitting around the kitchen table when we all finally came home for a cup of tea and a natter. I know I'm going to miss this if they all go to Uni so every time is precious.

And thank goodness for the rain!

Thank you everyone for you kind words, we're taking it one day at a time.

Mollie lol at your finds in the vac, we once tried to put a tape in the video recorder and found DD, then a toddler, had posted her eggy sandwich in it :D
I agree Kitchenbunny, the rain is lovely. even to just stand in and feel the soft dampness. Congrats on you sweepstake win:T
I haven't had tinned fruit and jelly since I was a kid nuttybabe, thank you for the reminder of Friday puddings after a fish dinner :)
I'd never thought of cooking onions before freezing Ladyhawk. I tried slicing and freezing raw but even in a sealed tub the freezer really stank , might try giving your way a go next time I see them on YS. I can't think of anything nicer than free ice cream and cheese, you lucky thing :D
zara your pleasures remind me of when we lived in a small Worcs village and I baked on a Tuesday. The vicar would call in on his way home from choir practice...I soon got wise and learned to keep a special little tin of goodies for him or he'd have eaten the lot :rotfl:
Tealady well done on the rail card, they're invaluable aren't they? I'm sure everything will go well for the party, it sounds as though you have it well under control. You have a good time with your family, especially a there won't be anyone there to cause a scene ;)
CCP I hope you soon get the front door fixed. Lol at your line-manager rejecting your idea, she's no fun ;).
ACEY so pleased you felt the contact went okay but I hear you re feeling down and stompy walk. Hope everything goes your way :)
I think your 5 were very good as you weren't feeling up to par KarleyMarie. I particularly liked your No 5. That reminds me.... ;)
Well done on your charity shop find Patchword Quilt. Just once in a while the right thing turns up on the rails and it's a lovely feeling to know what a bargain you got :D
elizabunny I love the story of finding a bunny then getting one of your own, if I was younger, had DC at home, had space for a nice run, didn't have cats etc etc, I'd love another one :)
Ralloctiger sounds like you had lots of outdoorsy pleasures. How lovely to have a garden where you work where you can sit for lunch :D

    My 5

    1. Visited DD this morning, yesterday she went to the GP who sent her to hosp re worsening pains in her feet (due to lupus) and found they have 36 :eek::eek: stress fractures between them (her feet, not DD and the x-ray nurse!). The pleasure was that DSinL has taken some time off work and is looking after her well, he's such a good man. As DD said, she was managing before she knew what was wrong and I understand that, until our probs have a 'name' we just battle on, don't we? Fortunately most of us do after we know too!
    2. Made chilli in the sc and had with some naan bread from the freezer, wasn't hungry but it was really quite nice
    3. Stood in the soft rain, the first real rain we've seen for 3 weeks, and potted up some plants. I still missed the sun today though
    4. Postie brought me the second of 2 boxes of cereal to trial. It's okay but boring, I prefer muesli etc, so having had a bowl to report on I've given the rest to the little girl next door who loves it.
    5. The penny phone call (well 20p actually) :)

    Night night, sweet dreams

Evening, everyone. Here's my five pleasures for today:

    1. Finding a penny tonight. It might bring luck, you never know.
    2. Going to a pub this evening that had a lot of classic cars parked up for a meeting. What a nice night it was looking at classic Jags and Lotus Cars - beautiful.
    3. The jaunt in the car was nice too. There are some lovely hills just up the road we didn't know we had!
    4. Finding some of those really posh smoothies in my local Boots reduced to clear at 30p each (usually about £1.79 for a small bottle :D ) I got 6, gave 2 to my sister, 2 to DH and had 2 myself.
    5. Washing my hair. After a 2 day "not going to wash it" stint, it was nice to finally get it clean. :)

Hope everyone has had a nice evening. (((hugs))) to those in need.

Hugs to all those that need them.
    My five are

    1. Lovely walk in the morning with it being warm but very light rain. It creates a great smell of grass.

2.Watching my dog pick and eat apples without feeling the need to stop her as the orchards have just been left for a couple of years.

    3. Cakes at work as it was someones birthday.

4.Receiving a (very short) email from DS2 who is away with the school for three weeks. Great to hear he was fine and having a good time.

    5. Still eating from freezer/ store cupboard but will have to go to supermarket tomorrow.

    6. NSD 2nd in a row.

Haven't been feeling cheerful recently so sorry not posted for a while. I have been worrying a lot about things and getting tearful, mostly about our favourite pet chicken who went into a decline a week ago and was taken to the vets on Monday. We feared the worst as she wasn't eating, was all fluffed up and looked in pain. She had a scan and the vet found two eggs stuck inside that had burst. He managed to remove them (ouch!) but says if this happens again she will have to be put down as it is probably a genetic defect. We are keeping fingers crossed....

My pleasures from the past few days:

    1. Having an invite to tea last week from an elderly chap I met at Slimming World. He made us a lovely prawn salad with all home grown veg and gave me a coleus from his beautiful garden. He also played some old tunes on the piano for me; he plays beautifully!

    2. Had an introductory gym session yesterday (have never used the gym despite having membership to local health club for the year) and actually managed to enjoy it! Guy who showed me the ropes was great at explaining to an unfit person like me and helped me start on a plan using some of the machines and how to build up gradually... watch this space!

    3. OH has a small electricican job for today, (work is still painfully slow)

    4. Managed to get the rest of DD's new secondary school uniform. I am £200 poorer but she looks lovely in it and hopefully that's all sorted for the year ahead.

    5. Popped into Claire's when shopping for uniform and bought their 5 items for £5 in the sale, lots of stocking fillers sorted.

    6. Our hen is eating again this morning and looking more comfortable...keeping everything crossed for her.

    7. DS is being an angel lately (wants to save up his good-boy pocket money for a laptop!!!!!!) and by the time I had got up he had made his bed, folded his pjs, cleaned out the chickens and unloaded the dishwasher.

Ladyhawk: I am so sorry to hear about your poor little furbabe. Sending you a huge hug.

    Morning all.

Ginger Snap - I'm sorry to hear about your poor chicken. Fingers crossed she's all OK now.

Kitchenbunny - lucky you seeing all those nice cars. Last time I visited my parents I saw a similar collection while I was with my mum. I stopped to admire one in particular, and my mum told me my dad used to have one like it but wrote it off. Funny he's never mentioned it to me. ;)

sparrer - ouch for your poor DD! I hope she mends quickly.

Patchwork Quilt - courgettes have a flavour?! Hope you enjoy your freebies. :)

elizabunny - I'm ever-so-slightly envious of your new rabbit. I used to have one when I was a teenager and have always said I'll get another one when I have a proper garden for it to live in - one day! Give him a stroke for me, please. :)

    My pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Managing not to swear when a packet of raisins fell out of my kitchen cupboard, landed in the cat's water dish and split, sending water and raisins everywhere. At least the day could only have got better from that point!

    2) Lots and lots of rain. My garden looks much happier for having had a good drenching.

    3) Got a free jar of coffee from a colleague. It has a BB date of June and she was about to throw it away before I stepped in and rescued it. :money:

    4) I wasn't sure if I really fancied going to the pub to listen to music last night, but I'm glad I did - he was really good and surprisingly funny for someone who makes such sad songs. It was a nice friendly audience, too, so I didn't feel quite such an idiot being there on my own as I had expected. Sadly I didn't get to chat to the musician afterwards as there was a long queue of people wanting to do the same, but he plays there regularly so I'll probably see him again soon.

    5) Walked home past another pub, and recognised the voices of some friends, so I popped in to say hello and get out of the rain for a few minutes.

    Have a pleasant day, everyone.
Back after a very long break!

Thank you CCP I have done :) I can't believe how attached we've become to him already. We have two dogs as well, including a GSD that adore him, so much so that he is living as a 'House Rabbit at the moment in our conservatory, we cannot bear to put him outside at night at the moment. DH Is going to convert the shed into a new home entirely for the rabbit and attach a huge run. We have a spare area of garden for this. Getting a bit excited about this project although I think 'bunny will live in the house with us for part of the time (I'm litter training him:eek:).

sparrer my thoughts are with you.

Here are my 5 for today.................

    1) Going to be checking out the websites for hay/natural grass seeds to grow for the rabbit's run. Very OS as I plan to grow some natural hay with camomile plants and other herbs in the area to give it a really natural feel, much cheaper to grow my own than buy turf and much healthier too. (Bit worried about any chemicals that might have been used on turf).

    2) My first crop of new potatoes are ready. They are really good and taste great. I'm going to replant the planters as they empty -hoping to grow some thru winter and for Xmas.

    3) Lots of lovely different Beans also now ready, the Broad Beans are finished, but we have just started picking three kinds of runner and dwarf beans. Toms are turning red also:)

    4) I have managed to clean one of the leather chairs very thoroughly today. It's a cream colour and it takes ages when done properly. Just need to apply the final leather cream when thoroughly dry. Only 3 more to go:eek: which I will leave for another day.

    5) Received some supermarket money off coupons, 1 x £6 off £40 shop and 4 x £4 off £40 shop. I thought they were quite good but I have to use them online and don't usually shop at this particular supermarket, so will have to have a think about this. Good offer though.

Have a nice day everyone, it's a quite cloudy here and I think we'll have rain later, but at least it will be good for the gardens.

Ginger Snap - I hope things pick up for you soon (((hugs)))
Villagelife - I love to walk in the rain! Particularly the soft drizzly rain that makes everything smell so much greener.
CCP - Well done on the free coffee! I would have done the same in your shoes ;)
Elizabunny - Hope the potatoes are nice. I'm only just managing to grow (I think, I haven't checked because of the rain) 2 cherry tomato plants, and I really want to grow more things. :)

    Here's my pleasures for today:

    1. The kids being off school means the town is quieter in terms of traffic. There's less cars about and that makes walking from the station sooooo much easier, lol.
    2. Having a look around the charity shops at lunchtime with a view to buy some fabric and then talking myself out of it as I'll probably not get around to using it ;)
    3. Getting through quite a lot of work, which always feels like I've accomplished something.
    4. Having lost a lb when I weighed myself on the Wii Fit :D Happy days, soon I'll get below 11st if I can! I'm 5'7" so not too much more to go. Unfortunately when I did the age thing it told me I was 10 years older! :p to that :p
    5. A good conversation with my sister at lunchtime on the way to town. It was good to catch up with her.
    6. (A sneaky sixth!) There was a thunderstorm on the way home with lots of lovely forked lightning. Beautiful!

Have a nice evening, everyone. Just a gentle tea of soup for us as both of us are really tired due to late nights and early mornings done once too often. Have a good one!

Evening all from a somewhat recovered wogglemaker. I've really missed you and your pleasures.

After a very long story of a stay with Dad, an appointment at the Severe Asthma Unit five miles from Dad then having to drive back to Gloucester very sharp like when my lungs went pear shaped at 4.00am (resulting in phnumonia and 2 weeks in hospital again) I'm back.

My 5 for today (and yesterday)

    1. Discharge from hospital went really smooth, and got home at 2.30 pm rather than the normal tea time!

    2. DD & hubby had done the housework and changed the beds

    3. Hospital case is tidy, washing done and just waiting to be refilled.

    4. Lovely beef salad for tea with HM potato salad.

5 a cuddly time spent grooming bootsie girl - for some reason i'm the only one she'll let do it & get rid of the seed heads she accumilates (even in her tummy)

    6. The new netbook and Donggle work like a dream AND i'ts allowed in hospital.

    7. Even 88 year old dad showed some interest in what could be done on the web. A far cry from one of the first computers he used 30odd years ago that filled a room.

    8. A new long term antibiotic started today on the advice of Severe Asthma unit - Just got to wait for the trial of a different sailine neb.

    9. A nice glass of wine or two tonight and a sleep in my own bed

    Sweet dreams all

It's good to see you Wogglemaker. I hope you stay well.

    1) Cleaning my fridge and finding we have more in there than I realised. I am seeing how long I can delay going shopping.
    2) Went down to the allotment and picked another three punnets of strawberries, some beans, a lettuce and some beetroot. I can use the beetroot leaves as well, which is satisfying. It filled a few spaces in the fridge. Now I just have to be careful to use it all up in order so that nothing is wasted.
    3) Got inside just before the thunderstorm began. Watched it out of the window for a few minutes.
    4) Have been invited on a school trip on Monday. It's just a local walk and a barbeque but I'm looking forward to it.
    5) DS's girlfriend has just texted me to order two more jars of lemon curd - one for her and one for her stepdad. I knew she'd like it.
