Evening all
Having a bad day today. Bit fed up of money after all the comments about 'middle income' can survive this budget. I am not saying people on benifits can survive or its a fair budget to them, I am just saying we at 'middle income' cant and its always us that loses out the most because we can apparently afford it, I am seriously stressing about it and finding a job to fit with nursery when ds2 starts in september as i just dont know how we will cope if i cant! And i know thats selfish as people are alot worse off than us and I should be grateful for what we have but i just cant tighten the budget any more. Then getting digs complaining about me. Why cant people relise that i do what i can! I have 3 kids who i spend all day running round after, i do 1 thing for me which is my volunteering. I spend hours making presents and baking goodies for family and all i get is critisism when things arent on time but all the hours i put in trying to get stuff done (and no thanks when i do all this stuff) when i am trying to keep kids happy, sticking to a budget so spend hours walking to shops to get the best deals and keeping on top of housework and washing. I cant do everything and i wish people would understand that. Sorry, very tired and just needed a rant.
Sparrer - I did paul mckenna weight loss after seeing the show on living beginning of last year. i lost 1/2 stone and then kind of got sloppy with it and didnt keep with it, just ate what i wanted to and didnt stop when feeling full. What did it for me was going to a healthy eating trainer and giving her a food diary every week!
anyway mine for today.
1. We all had breakfast bars for breakfast and they were a huge hit!! :j
2. Quiet at toddler group so spent the morning singing/playing with ds2.
3. Cleaned kitchen and bathroom today
4. Kids made burgers and chips in family seal so they had that for tea. And they were very nice too. Obviously I had to taste all 3 of them!!! :rotfl:
5. Dh giving me a cuddle as he knows I have had a bad day even though he has spent most of the day in car for a meeting that was a waste of time. He can be a sweetie sometimes!!
Ah well, tomorrow is another day! But as its still today, i think chocolate is in order!0 -
Evening
Sparrer - I'm another one who tends to clean the shower while I'm in it
Nuttybabe - Don't let them get to you. You are doing a fantastic job and its obviously other peoples insecurities showing through. Big hugs to you. Agree chocolate always makes you feel better
Pleasures for today:
1. Really productive day at work got everything done that I wanted to do today plus some other jobs sorted
2. Lovely email off my mums cleaner thanking me for something I had ordered for her (freebie low spend)
3. Even though this money has been expensive my bank account is still in credit and its pay day tomorrow pre MSE it would have been at the top of the overdraft limit:money:
4. Treat myself to a nice hat to wear at the weekend. Not really at hat person but if we are sat outside in the sunshine all day Saturday I know I will need one.
5. Finding out we can go and watch the tennis tomorrow afternoon now as well as Saturday and the tickets for tomorrow are for Cente Court. DD is very excited:j:T:j:T:j:T

nuttybabe - I hear you, we are a middle income family and DS is a public sector worker, things could be worse but when someone told me today that her council rent is too much at £50 per week and aren't we lucky to have our house. I bit back, yes but a third of my hubbys monthly salary pays our mortgage so we can't afford to drink, go out have a flat screen telly or Sky like you (she's told me in the past this is what she spends her cash on, I'm not making assumptions.) - argh!!! sorry it bugs me too sometimes.
Anyhoo, simple pleasures, that's what I'm hear to discuss and have had a super day.
1. My lovely pal picked me up and took me over to see her allotment. She's had it 5 years and it's great. We then went back to her house, sat in the garden and scoffed cake - lovely!
2. Got paid today and got a tax refund as they got my code wrong last month, working all these sunny weekends felt worth it a bit
3. Took DS to his friend from schools house for a play tonight for first time. Felt a bit nervous as I don't really know his Mum, but she was lovely and we had a really good natter
4. Went up to lottie and planted some leeks my pal gave me, our lovely lottie neighbour gave us some butternut squash and lots of turnips, she is TOO kind.
5. Got 3 loads of washing dry on line tomorrow. DS is going for tea to his little girlyfriends tomorrow - he's a social butterfly this weekso tomorrow I'll do the ironing and clean the house as I'm working this weekend.
night night

Hi Everyone,
I didn't manage to post last night as I got back from London just before 5pm and decided to have a small rest before cracking on with some work... and work up at 5.30 this morning! I really did need it for some reason!
My poor furbabe is unwell. I took him to the vet 2 weeks ago and they couldn't find anything wrong with him. And since I got back from Paris he hasn't really been eating and is generally not himself. Normally when I get home from work I call him and he comes to say hello. He is now just sleeping alot and not eating. So I took him to the vet again this evening and again they can't pin point anything so he is going to have to go back in for some tests. I should have got them to run some tonight... oh well.
Oh and my flexible benefits have been messed up because they didn't recieve my form in HR... so now I don't get extra holiday and have to pay for family private medical cover even though I don't have a family... I am certainly going to fight this one!
And I am suffering with hayfever. My chest is all wheezy and nose is all snuffly.
So... my pleasures for today:
1) Feeling rested all day. It really does make a difference!
2) My youngest brother, whose birthday it is today emailed me this morning to offer me a spare ticket to see Pearl Jam tomorrow night in Hyde Park. Rock on!! I have taken the day off work to ensure that I get down there in time.
3) Going to Sains this evening for the first time in absolute ages and treating myself to a pineapple and some lovely black cherries...
4) My weekend starts here! :j
5) Chatting to my oldest brother on facebook, and as he is a ENT surgeon who gave me some nasal spray a few years ago to help with my allergies, chatting to him reminded me that I still have the spray and that I should find it and hopefully it will cure my snuffles.
Nuttybabe - illegitimi non carborundum
Have a great evening everyone
LMan plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0 -
Evening all.
I've had a decidely un-OS day today - buying ready-made lunch AND dinner. Hey ho, I guess we all fall off the bandwagon sometimes - I must just make sure I now get back on it, as I really can't afford not to.
Ladyhawk - I'm sorry to hear your furbabe's ill. Could it be the heat making him feel unwell? Whatever it is, I hope he gets better quickly.
nuttybabe - it sounds like you're having a rough time at the moment, so hugs to you. You know how much you're doing, and I'm sure your family do too, and that's all that really matters, imo. Hope you enjoyed your chocolate, at least.
newlywed - I'm glad the job's going well for you. And well done on avoiding shiny things in shops! :T
Kitchenbunny - I know exactly what you mean about your number 4. I've recently rejoined the weight loss thread in the hope of sorting out my own podge.
Acey (from yesterday) - that's great news about the PPI money. I'm sure you can put it to a much better use than the bank ever could.
My pleasures for today:
1) Found a pair of sandals I thought I'd lost - I'd left them in the entrance hall of my flat, for some unknown reason.
2) Ordered my freebie soaps from Wild Olive - I'm just hoping they don't send me a lavender-scented one now. _pale_ Thanks very much for the tip, Ginger Snap - I haven't been on the freebies boards in ages, and would have missed this one if you hadn't mentioned it. :A
3) I had to go to a presentation at work today - it wasn't uninteresting, but was spoilt by a group of people a few seats away who talked through the whole thing. The pleasure was finding out afterwards that they'd been getting on everyone else's nerves, too.
4) Made a tentative agreement with a lady at work to sell her my spare BBQ, which has never been used (as my parents got me another one just after I'd bought it, and I decided it would cost too much to send the original one back). It'll only be £10, but it's better than nothing.
5) Found my favourite breakfast cereal on special offer in Waitrose - 25% off. :j
6) Watching and listening to a big flock of swifts swooping over my flat. I love 'em - summer on wings.
Have a pleasant evening / night, all.Back after a very long break!0 -
Have not had a good day today but I will think of 5 pleasures in a moment.
I phoned the FOS again about the PPI money and no, they are not going to send me a cheque. They are going to use the money to pay off some of the loan. I KNOW it at least means I have £3,500 off the one remaining loan but I would have rather had the cash to get some work done on the house!
Neighbour is really very unwell so I did some babysitting for her son (also a bit unwell). I do worry about them. :-(
Finally, can't tell you all about the ex husband (sadly!) as he has a fraud case coming up then a family law case versus me! Suffice to say he has been in all sorts of trouble locally. I can tell you one of his silly things has been to shout and swear in public at a friend of mine and challenge him to a fight! A duel would have been more fun :-D
Anyway, 5 for today!
1) Had a tidy and cleaned the bathroom.
2) Had a birthday card come in the post.
3) Made a lovely tea - just grilled trout with a big bowl of salad but it was just the job. Had fresh pineapple for afters.
4) Friend of my ex-mother-in-law came round which is why I know all the stuff about the ex and his burgoening (spelling????) criminal record. :-S Nice to see her though and to have a cup of tea together.
5) Oh yes, I got in touch with someone at the Swan Theatre in Worcester who does acting type workshops for children and my older son is on the waiting list! He is so dramatic and even puts on little shows at school in his breaktimes!
6) The child psych went to see smaller son in school. I asked smaller son how he had got on and he said, "Oh, we got on very well, Neville (the psych) had salad for his lunch" :-D
Hoping for a better day tomorrow - its my birthday!0 -
Hugs and chocolate, (and/or one of our home-made '99' icecream cornets - highly recommended for therapeutic purposes) for those that need them.
Happy Birthday to you:bdaycake: Acey, since it is now 'tomorrow'. Hope today is much better for you.
My five for Thursday:
1. DS1 has finished his exams and is pleased with how they have all gone and I'm really pleased with how he has been organised and motivated about working for them.
2. Favourite local drive through beautiful scenery and in glorious sunshine to the Thursday group DS2 and I go to. Was happy the whole way.
3. The grilled haloumi and salad pitta DS2 had made for my packed lunch.
4. Contacted the wholefood supplier whom I used to buy from when a ran a co-op many moons ago to see if I could start one up again. It's looking hopeful.
5. Another NSD.
Sleep well.
