5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

I've never posted on here before, but had a long read through today and it made me smile
1) I am 'sofa bound' at the moment as had an operation on my foot on Monday so am off work. I was woken by someone ringing my bell this morning delivering flowers! They're from everyone at work which was very unexpected. They’re gorgeous and my favourite coloursThe card with them is funny, I think they're missing my regular tea making. The lady who delivered them brought them in for me too as could see I was struggling, bless her
Excuse the crappy photo, the camera on my phone is rubbish.
2) I've found some cheap shorts online at Matalan. I can't get trousers or jeans over my boot (which I have to keep on for 6 weeks) and skirts are a bit awkward for moving around in at home, so I’m either going to order online or wait until my dad’s near the shop and ask him to pick them up for me (and save on delivery costs!)
3) I have received a payment/refund from my healthcare thingy through work for a dentist visit last month. Only about £45, but it all helps.
4) Knowing I have lots of homemade 'ready meals' in the freezer so I don't have to worry about cooking anything if I don't feel up to it.
5) I've just had a bath! I'm not risking a shower as i'm not allowed to get my foot wet and I don't want to risk balancing on one leg for too long. I feel so much better now
6) A 'later'. I've given up on tv as everything has been changed because of bloody football, so i'm going to stick a dvd on and sit and watch it with some popcorn my dad gave me later.
Only little things, but it’s made me realise how we take things for granted, especially things like just having a shower!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Hi all
Thank you very much for all your congratulations for the new job!
Happy birthday Acey for today and CCP for tomorrow!
freakyogre best wishes for a speedy recovery after your operation!
Sorry I have disappeared off the face of the earth for a while, I am so busy I cannot hear myself thinking these days, however I keep meaning to come online and say hi and here I am.
The pleasures are so many these days, I feel that my family and I are truly blessed and I am really grateful for all the good things that are coming to us.
A few random pleasures:
1 - My work colleagues seem really lovely
2 - The job seems a very interesting one (I hope!) even if it is going to be very busy and quite challenging (which it is something I look forward to).
3 - Because of the flexibility in time and day the traveling to central London is not too bad
4 - My fitness regime is still going well and today I managed some jogging and more challenging exercises (for me that is!).
5 - Went to central London with DS to buy him his first suit (now that he has finished college he needs one to start looking for work and go to interviews) and we had a lovely day.
6 - DH seems to be very happy in his new job
7 - DD is getting a lot of babysitting and nannying work, she is very well liked by all the families and I am really proud of her.
8 - DS saved a lot (for him) of money from his paper rounds and asked me to put them in his deposit account. I know how hard it is for him to save so I am really proud of him.
9 - Looking forward to dinner with some of the veg that are growing very nicely in both front and back gardens (with the good weather).
10 - The allotment is coming on and we nearly have enough space to plant all the plants that we have grown in expectation.
11 - Other allotment holders have been very generous and gave us lots of plants too.
12 - Good crop of blackberries in the front garden, good crop of raspberries and rhubarb in the allotment (plants that were already there).
Love to all and see you soon again, hopefully! xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Happy birthday ACEY !!!!!
Here goes for today.
1. I'm working this weekend, so did my chores then read my book and chilled for a couple of hours.
2. DS went to his girlyfriends for tea, when we picked him up he's got a Star of The Week certificate for excellent reading- and for the first time is on the Star of the Week board at school - I'm so proud
3. spoke to DS teacher, he's struggling a bit with his handwriting - he's just turned 5 - so we came up with lots of ideas to improve his hand, eye co-ordination, she gave me some worksheets and I've made him a little area of the dining table for activities. I've popped playdoh, pencils, pens, paper, card, crafting stuff and beads on there and intend for us to do a bit of play after school most nights, think if it's fun he'll enjoy it more, as will I
4. Enjoyed watering my lottie, it was so peaceful up there.
5. Had a nice natter on the phone with my Mum.

Thank you very much for all the birthday wishes! And happy birthday, CCP for tomorrow!
5 for today.
1) Got woken up to a cooked breakfast! (tea and toast). I was made to sit up (not a morning person) and ate it, wondering why I felt a bit odd. Then the boys brought in my cards. Then I looked at the clock. We normally get up at 8am and it was just before 6...
2) Went out for lunch with mum and dad and saw a big fish in the river Teme afterwards.
3) Had a few phone calls.
4) Took smaller son to Beavers and bigger son and I went for a walk in the forest to the stream and saw a deer on the way home.
5) Very much looking forward to tomorrow. We are going to one of the Ludlow Festival workshops. Bigger son is doing a workshop run by someone from Aardman Animation (of Wallace and Grommit fame)! Smaller son and I are going to "do Ludlow" then we'll get bigger son, have a dash round the castle, go in the river then have chips to tea. :-)

1) Managed to do some more digging this morning. The bottom of the garden has been a compost heap/dump for 20 years and the rest of the garden had gravel over plastic bags in the borders, so have been digging up the plastic bags (I do try to remove the stones but it's nearly impossible) and put the good soil on the top to dig in later. It is full of weed seeds but the soil under the bags is compressed, shiny and stinky so I think it will do some good. The apple tree is definitely looking better this year for being freed from the bags.
2) Strawberries are looking ripe-ish. I am hoping we can have some tomorrow as there is some double cream in the fridge left over from ...
3) DD made a cheesecake yesterday and unfortunately, there was too much filling. So she took the cheesecake off to a friend's house and we ate the bowl of filling for pud. Delicious. She can certainly cook.
4) DD's boyfriend told us that when he went to Uganda last year, the nurse at the clinic (and orphanage) that our church supports needed some money to fix her teeth so he gave her what he had left - about £35. Anyway, after he'd come home, a little girl came into the clinic and it turned out that she needed a life-saving operation at the hospital, so the nurse gave the teeth money to save her life. She wrote to explain that she hadn't used the money for the teeth but it had done a great deal of good. Anyway, we have a pot in our kitchen for all the spare change to go to the orphanage and we counted it out - £37.70. God provides!
5) Putting my feet up and reading all these cheerful posts while DH sits and plays his guitar.0 -

Ooooh, more cake, good-oh! Happy Birthday to you:bdaycake: CCP. Have a lovely one!
My five for Friday:
1. Got quite a bit of tidying done in the house.
2. Nice man from the vegbox rang up to ask if I really wanted two large boxes next week - I'd already spotted the mistake on my account on the website and had just corrected it. I've no idea how two had got ordered, but it was great that they were being diligent and had checked and it gave me the chance to say thanks for this week's free cookbook.
3. Another good phone call with the wholefood supplier. They are sending me a catalogue.
4. Got some overdue bills paid so I'm now up to date.
5. Made my courgettes stuffed with quorn mince (left over from last night's pasta) for supper. We all like this meal.
Sleep well.
